Merits
This Surah was revealed in Makkah and has 128 ayaat. In the commentary of Majma’ul Bayan it is recorded from the Holy Prophet (S) that whoever recites this Surah will not be questioned, on the Day of Judgement, about the blessings he received on the Earth and will get the reward equal to the amount of people who left a good will when they died.
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that whoever recites Surah an-Nahl once every month, he will be safe from 70 types of diseases and will be from among the people of Jannah. This Surah should, however, under no circumstance be written and kept in the house or garden as it may have harmful effects. Imam Sadiq (a.s.) has said that if kept in a house or garden, it will soon be destroyed. Indeed this is a weapon that one is only allowed to use against an evil person who is the enemy of Islam.

INNAMAA JO-E’LAS SABTO A’LAL LAZEENAKH TALAFOO FEEH, WA INNA RABBAKA LAYAHKOMO BAYNAHUM YAWMAL QEYAAMATE FEEMAA KAANOO FEEHE YAKHTALEFOON.
The Sabbath was only prescribed for those who differed about it. Your Lord will indeed judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they differ.
UD-O’ ELAA SABEELE RABBEKA BIL-HIKMATE WAL MAW-E’ZATIL HASANATE WA JAADILHUM BILLATEE HEYA AHSAN, INNA RABBAKA HOWA A-A’LAMO BEMAN ZALLA A’N SABEELEHI WA HOWA A-A’LAMO BIL-MOHTADEEN.
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good advice and dispute with them in a manner that is best. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are guided.
WA IN A’AQABTUM FA-A’AQEBOO BE-MISLE MAA O’OQIBTUM BEH, WA LA-IN SABARTUM LAHOWA KHAYRUL LIS-SAABEREEN.
Should you retaliate, retaliate with the like of what you have been made to suffer, but if you are patient that is surely better for the steadfast.
WAS BIR WA MAA SABROKA ILLAA BIL-LAAHE WA LAA TAHZAN A’LAYHIM WA LAA TAKO FEE ZAYQIM MIMMAA YAMKOROON.
So be steadfast, and you cannot be steadfast except with Allah [’s help]. And do not grieve for them, nor be upset by their guile.
INNAL LAAHA MA-A’L LAZEENAT TAQAW WAL LAZEENA HUM MOHSENOON.
Indeed Allah is with those who are Godwary and those who are virtuous.
