This ‘Makki’ Surah has 28 verses. It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) that frequent recitation of this Surah is a protection from Jinn and the reciter will be in the company of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) on the Day of Resurrection. This Surah also protects one from the evil actions of an unjust person.

Prisoners secure early release by reciting this Surah and those who recite it properly will never face poverty or starvation. Keeping this Surah in one’s possession ensures safety from the Jinn, victory in debate or confrontation, and safety of possession and wealth. Debts are also easily paid back.

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful

QUL OOHEYA ELAYYA ANNAHUS TAMA-A’ NAFARUM MENAL JINNE FA-QAALOO INNAA SAME’NAA QUR-AANAN A’JABAA.

Say, ‘It has been revealed to me that a team of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, “Indeed we heard a wonderful Quran,

YAHDEE ELAR RUSHDE FA-AAMANNAA BEH, WA LAN NUSHREKA BE-RABBENAA AHADAA.

which guides to rectitude. Hence, we have believed in it and we will never ascribe any partner to our Lord.

WA ANNAHU TA-A’ALAA JADDO RABBENAA MAT TAKHAZA SAAHEBATANW WA LAA WALADAA.

Exalted be the majesty of our Lord; He has taken neither any spouse nor son.

WA ANNAHU KAANA YAQOOLO SAFEEHONAA A’LAL LAAHE SHATATAA.

The foolish ones among us used to speak atrocious lies concerning Allah.

WA ANNAA ZANANNAA AL LAN TAQOOLAL INSO WAL JINNO A’LAL LAAHE KAZEBAA.

We thought that humans and jinn would never utter any falsehood concerning Allah.

WA ANNAHU KAANA REJAALUM MENAL INSE YA-O’OZOONA BE-REJAALIM MENAL JINNE FA-ZAADOOHUM RAHAQAA.

Indeed some persons from the humans would seek the protection of some persons from the jinn, thus only adding to their rebellion.

WA ANNAHUM ZANNOO KAMAA ZANANTUM AL LAN-Y YAB-A’SAL LAAHO AHADAA.

They thought, just as you think, that Allah will not raise anyone from the dead.

WA ANNAA LAMASNAS SAMAAA-A FA-WAJADNAAHAA MOLE-AT HARASAN SHADEEDANW WA SHOHOBAA.

Indeed we made for the heaven and found it full of mighty sentries and flames.

WA ANNAA KUNNAA NAQ-O’DO MINHAA MAQAA-E’DA LIS-SAM’, FAMAN-Y YASTAME-I’L AANA YAJID LAHU SHEHAABAR RASADAA.

We used to sit in its positions to eavesdrop, but anyone listening now finds a flame waiting for him.

WA ANNAA LAA NADREE ASHARRUN OREEDA BEMAN FIL ARZE AM ARAADA BEHIM RABBOHUM RASHADAA.

We do not know whether ill is intended for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intends good for them.

WA ANNAA MINNAS SAALEHOONA WA MINNAA DOONA ZAALEK, KUNNAA TARAAA-EQA QEDADAA.

WA ANNAA ZANANNAA AL LAN NO’JEZAL LAAHA FIL ARZE WA LAN NO’JEZAHU HARABAA.

We know that we cannot frustrate Allah on the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by fleeing.

WA ANNAA LAMMAA SAME’NAL HODAA AAMANNAA BEH, FAMAN-Y YOAMIM BE-RABBEHI FALAA YAKHAAFO BAKHSANW WA LAA RAHAQAA.

When we heard the [message of] guidance, we believed in it. Whoever that has faith in his Lord will fear neither privation nor oppression.

WA AMMAL QAASETOONA FA-KAANOO LE-JAHANNAMA HATABAA.

As for the perverse, they will be firewood for hell.

WA ALLAWIS TAQAAMOO A’LAT TAREEQATE LA-ASQAYNAAHUM MAAA-AN GHADAQAA.

If they are steadfast on the path [of Allah], We shall provide them with abundant water,
