Dua Asharat

Text and Translation

The Supplication of the Tens; some of its passages are repeated ten times each. This version — there being some difference among its transmitted copies — follows Shaykh al-Tusi's Misbah al-Mutahajjid. It is advisable to say it every morning and evening, though its best time is Friday afternoon:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ وَلَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM SUBHAANAL LAAHI WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI WA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHU WALLAAHO AKBAR WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHIL A'LIYYIL A'ZEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the All-magnificent.

سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ اٰنَاۤءَ اللَّيْلِ وَاَطْرَافَ النَّهَارِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالْاٰصَالِ

SUBHAANAL LAAHI AANAAA-AL LAYLI WA ATRAAFAN NAHAAR SUBHAANAL LAAHI BIL GHUDUWWI WAL AASAAL

Glory be to Allah in the hours of the night and the two ends of the day; glory be to Allah in the early morning and the evening,

سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْاِبْكَارِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ حِيْنَ تُمْسُوْنَ وَحِيْنَ تُصْبِحُوْنَ

SUBHAANAL LAAHI BIL A'SHIYYI WAL IBKAAR SUBHAANAL LAAHI HEENA TUMSOONA WA HEENA TUSBIHOON

glory be to Allah at nightfall and daybreak, glory be to Allah when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning,

وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَعَشِيَّا وَحِيْنَ تُظْهِرُوْنَ

WA LAHUL HAMDU FIS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARDI WA A'SHIYYAW WA HEENA TUZHIROON

and unto Him is praise in the heavens and the earth, at nightfall and at noon,

يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ وَيُحْيِيْ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَكَذٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُوْنَ

YUKHRIJUL HAYYA MINAL MAYYITI WA YUKHRIJUL MAYYITA MINAL HAYYI WA YUHYIL ARDA BA'DA MAWTIHAA WA KAZAALIKA TUKHRAJOON

He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and He revives the earth after its death; and even so shall you be brought forth.

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُوْنَ وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

SUBHAANA RABBIKA RABBIL I'ZZATI A'MMAA YASIFOON WA SALAAMUN A'LAL MURSALEENA WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI RABBIL A'ALAMEEN

Glorified is your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they attribute to Him; and peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْمُلْكِ وَالْمَلَكُوْتِ سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْعِزَّةِ وَالْجَبَرُوْتِ سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْكِبْرِيَاۤءِ وَالْعَظَمَةِ

SUBHAANA ZIL MULKI WAL MALAKOOT SUBHAANA ZIL I'ZZATI WAL JABAROOT SUBHAANA ZIL KIBRIYAAA-I WAL A'ZAMAH

Glory be to the Lord of the kingdom and the dominion, glory be to the Lord of might and sovereignty, glory be to the Lord of majesty and greatness,

الْمَلِكِ الْحَقِّ الْمُهَيْمِنِ الْقُدُّوْسِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ الْمَلِكِ الْحَيِّ الَّذِيْ لَا يَمُوْتُ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ الْمَلِكِ الْحَيِّ الْقُدُّوْسِ

AL-MALIKIL HAQQIL MUHAYMINIL QUDDOOS SUBHAANAL LAAHIL MALIKIL HAYYIL LAZEE LAA YAMOOT SUBHAANAL LAAHIL MALIKIL HAYYIL QUDDOOS

the True Sovereign, the Guardian, the Holy. Glory be to Allah, the Ever-living Sovereign Who never dies; glory be to Allah, the Ever-living, Holy Sovereign.

سُبْحَانَ الْقَاۤئِمِ الدَّاۤئِمِ سُبْحَانَ الدَّاۤئِمِ الْقَاۤئِمِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيْمِ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْاَعْلٰى

SUBHAANAL QAAA-IMID DAAA-IM SUBHAANAD DAAA-IMIL QAAA-IM SUBHAANA RABBIYAL A'ZEEM SUBHAANA RABBIYAL A'LAA

Glory be to the Ever-standing, the Everlasting; glory be to the Everlasting, the Ever-standing; glory be to my Lord, the Most Great; glory be to my Lord, the Most High,

سُبْحَانَ الْحَيِّ الْقَيُّوْمِ سُبْحَانَ الْعَلِيِّ الْاَعْلٰى سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالٰى سُبُّوْحٌ قُدُّوْسٌ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّ الْمَلَاۤئِكَةِ وَالرُّوْحِ

SUBHAANAL HAYYIL QAYYOOM SUBHAANAL A'LIYYIL A'LAA SUBHAANAHU WA TA-A'ALAA SUBBOOHUN QUDDOOSUR RABBUNAA WA RABBUL MALAAA-IKATI WAR ROOH

glory be to the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting; glory be to the Most High, the Highest; glory be to Him, exalted is He, All-glorious, All-holy, our Lord and the Lord of the angels and the Spirit,

سُبْحَانَ الدَّاۤئِمِ غَيْرِ الْغَافِلِ سُبْحَانَ الْعَالِمِ بِغَيْرِ تَعْلِيْمٍ

SUBHAANAD DAAA-IMI GHAYRIL GHAAFIL SUBHAANAL A'ALIMI BI-GHAYRI TA'LEEM

glory be to the Everlasting Who is never heedless, glory be to the All-knowing Who needed no teaching,

سُبْحَانَ خَالِقِ مَا يُرٰى وَمَا لَا يُرٰى سُبْحَانَ الَّذِيْ يُدْرِكُ الْاَبْصَارَ وَلَا تُدْرِكُهُ الْاَبْصَارُ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيْفُ الْخَبِيْرُ

SUBHAANA KHAALIQI MAA YURAA WA MAA LAA YURAA SUBHAANAL LAZEE YUDRIKUL ABSAARA WA LAA TUDRIKUHUL ABSAARU WA HUWAL LATEEFUL KHABEER

glory be to the Creator of what is seen and what is unseen, glory be to Him Who perceives all sights while sights cannot perceive Him, and He is the Subtle, the Aware.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّي اَصْبَحْتُ مِنْكَ فِي نِعْمَةٍ وَخَيْرٍ وَبَرَكَةٍ وَعَافِيَةٍ فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِهِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ASBAHTU MINKA FEE NI'MATIN WA KHAYRIN WA BARAKATIN WA A'AAFIYATIN FASALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIH

O Allah, I have entered this morning in blessing, goodness, grace, and well-being from You; so bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَاَتْمِمْ عَلَيَّ نِعْمَتَكَ وَخَيْرَكَ وَبَرَكَاتِكَ وَعَافِيَتَكَ بِنَجَاةٍ مِنَ النَّارِ

WA ATMIM A'LAYYA NI'MATAKA WA KHAYRAKA WA BARAKAATIKA WA A'AAFIYATAKA BI-NAJAATIM MINAN NAAR

and complete for me Your blessing, Your goodness, Your grace, and Your well-being, with deliverance from the Fire,

وَارْزُقْنِيْ شُكْرَكَ وَعَافِيَتَكَ وَفَضْلَكَ وَكَرَامَتَكَ اَبَدًا مَا اَبْقَيْتَنِيْ

WAR ZUQNEE SHUKRAKA WA A'AAFIYATAKA WA FADLAKA WA KARAAMATAKA ABADAM MAA ABQAYTANEE

and grant me gratitude to You, well-being from You, Your bounty, and Your honor, for as long as You let me live.

اَللّٰهُمَّ بِنُوْرِكَ اهْتَدَيْتُ وَبِفَضْلِكَ اسْتَغْنَيْتُ وَبِنِعْمَتِكَ اَصْبَحْتُ وَاَمْسَيْتُ

ALLAAHUMMA BI-NOORIKAH TADAYTU WA BI-FADLIKAS TAGHNAYTU WA BI-NI'MATIKA ASBAHTU WA AMSAYT

O Allah, by Your light I have been guided, by Your bounty I have become needless, and by Your blessing I begin my morning and my evening.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّي اُشْهِدُكَ وَكَفٰى بِكَ شَهِيْدًا وَاُشْهِدُ مَلَاۤئِكَتَكَ وَاَنْبِيَاۤءَكَ وَرُسُلَكَ وَحَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَسُكَّانَ سَمَاوَاتِكَ وَاَرْضِكَ وَجَمِيْعَ خَلْقِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE USH-HIDUKA WA KAFAA BIKA SHAHEEDAW WA USH-HIDU MALAAA-IKATAKA WA ANBIYAAA-AKA WA RUSULAKA WA HAMALATA A'RSHIKA WA SUKKAANA SAMAAWAATIKA WA ARDIKA WA JAMEE-A' KHALQIKA

O Allah, I call You to witness — and You suffice as a Witness — and I call to witness Your angels, Your prophets, Your messengers, the bearers of Your Throne, the dwellers of Your heavens and Your earth, and all Your creation,

بِاَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ وَاَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهِ عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُوْلُكَ

BI-ANNAKA ANTAL LAAHO LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA WAHDAKA LAA SHAREEKA LAKA WA ANNA MUHAMMADAN SALLAL LAAHO A'LAYHI WA AALIHI A'BDUKA WA RASOOLUK

that You are Allah, there is no god but You, alone, with no partner unto You, and that Muhammad — Allah's blessings be upon him and his Household — is Your servant and Your Messenger,

وَاَنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ تُحْيِيْ وَتُمِيْتُ وَتُمِيْتُ وَتُحْيِيْ

WA ANNAKA A'LAA KULLI SHAY-IN QADEER TUHYEE WA TUMEETU WA TUMEETU WA TUHYEE

and that You have power over all things; You give life and cause death, and You cause death and give life,

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ حَقٌّ وَاَنَّ النَّارَ حَقٌّ وَاَنَّ النُّشُوْرَ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةَ اٰتِيَةٌ لَا رَيْبَ فِيْهَا وَاَنَّ اللهَ يَبْعَثُ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُوْرِ

WA ASH-HADU ANNAL JANNATA HAQQUW WA ANNAN NAARA HAQQUW WA ANNAN NUSHOORA HAQQUW WAS SAAA-A'TA AATIYATUL LAA RAYBA FEEHAA WA ANNAL LAAHA YAB-A'THU MAN FIL QUBOOR

and I bear witness that Paradise is true, the Fire is true, the Resurrection is true, the Hour is coming with no doubt in it, and that Allah will raise up those who are in the graves.

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ اَبِيْ طَالِبٍ اَمِيْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ حَقًّا حَقًّا

WA ASH-HADU ANNA A'LEE-YABNA ABEE TAALIBIN AMEERUL MU'MINEENA HAQQAN HAQQAA

And I bear witness that Ali ibn Abi Talib is truly, truly the Commander of the Faithful,

وَاَنَّ الْاَئِمَّةَ مِنْ وُلْدِهِ هُمُ الْاَئِمَّةُ الْهُدَاةُ الْمَهْدِيُّوْنَ غَيْرُ الضَّآلِّيْنَ وَلَا الْمُضِلِّيْنَ

WA ANNAL A-IMMATA MIN WULDIHI HUMUL A-IMMATUL HUDAATUL MAHDIYYOONA GHAYRUD DAAA-LLEENA WA LAL MUDILLEEN

and that the Imams of his progeny are the guiding, rightly-guided Imams, neither astray nor leading astray,

وَاَنَّهُمْ اَوْلِيَاۤؤُكَ الْمُصْطَفُوْنَ وَحِزْبُكَ الْغَالِبُوْنَ وَصَفْوَتُكَ وَخِيَرَتُكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

WA ANNAHUM AWLIYAAA-UKAL MUSTAFAWNA WA HIZBUKAL GHAALIBOONA WA SAFWATUKA WA KHIYARATUKA MIN KHALQIK

and that they are Your chosen intimate friends, Your victorious party, Your elite and Your best from among Your creation,

وَنُجَبَاۤؤُكَ الَّذِيْنَ انْتَجَبْتَهُمْ لِدِيْنِكَ وَاخْتَصَصْتَهُمْ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ وَاصْطَفَيْتَهُمْ عَلٰى عِبَادِكَ وَجَعَلْتَهُمْ حُجَّةً عَلَى الْعَالَمِيْنَ

WA NUJABAAA-UKAL LAZEENAN TAJABTAHUM LI-DEENIKA WAKH TASASTAHUM MIN KHALQIKA WAS TAFAYTAHUM A'LAA I'BAADIKA WA JA-A'LTAHUM HUJJATAN A'LAL A'ALAMEEN

and Your chosen ones whom You have selected for Your religion, singled out from Your creation, chosen over Your servants, and made a proof over all the worlds;

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَالسَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

SALAWAATUKA A'LAYHIM WAS SALAAMU WA RAHMATUL LAAHI WA BARAKAATUH

Your blessings, peace, mercy and blessings be upon them.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اكْتُبْ لِيْ هٰذِهِ الشَّهَادَةَ عِنْدَكَ حَتّٰى تُلَقِّنَنِيْهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَاَنْتَ عَنِّيْ رَاضٍ اِنَّكَ عَلٰى مَا تَشَاۤءُ قَدِيْرٌ

ALLAAHUMMAK TUB LEE HAAZIHISH SHAHAADATA I'NDAKA HATTAA TULAQQINANEEHAA YAWMAL QIYAAMATI WA ANTA A'NNEE RAADIN INNAKA A'LAA MAA TASHAAA-O QADEER

O Allah, record this testimony for me with You, so that You restore it to me on the Day of Resurrection while You are pleased with me; verily You have power over whatever You will.

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا يَصْعَدُ اَوَّلُهُ وَلَا يَنْفَدُ اٰخِرُهُ

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU HAMDAY YAS-A'DU AWWALUHU WA LAA YANFADU AAKHIRUH

O Allah, to You is praise — praise whose beginning ascends and whose end never runs out,

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا تَضَعُ لَكَ السَّمَاۤءُ كَنَفَيْهَا وَتُسَبِّحُ لَكَ الْاَرْضُ وَمَنْ عَلَيْهَا

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU HAMDAN TADA-U' LAKAS SAMAAA-O KANAFAYHAA WA TUSABBIHU LAKAL ARDU WA MAN A'LAYHAA

O Allah, to You is praise — praise before which the sky lowers its embrace, and for which the earth and all upon it glorify You,

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا سَرْمَدًا اَبَدًا لَا انْقِطَاعَ لَهُ وَلَا نَفَادَ وَلَكَ يَنْبَغِيْ وَاِلَيْكَ يَنْتَهِيْ

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU HAMDAN SARMADAN ABADAL LAA INQITAA-A' LAHU WA LAA NAFAADA WA LAKA YANBAGHEE WA ILAYKA YANTAHEE

O Allah, to You is praise, everlasting praise, with no cessation and no exhaustion, befitting You alone and ending with You,

فِيَّ وَعَلَيَّ وَلَدَيَّ وَمَعِيْ وَقَبْلِيْ وَبَعْدِيْ وَاَمَامِيْ وَفَوْقِي وَتَحْتِيْ

FEE-YA WA A'LAYYA WA LADAYYA WA MA-E'E WA QABLEE WA BA'DEE WA AMAAMEE WA FAWQEE WA TAHTEE

regarding me, upon me, with me, alongside me, before me, after me, ahead of me, above me, and beneath me,

وَاِذَا مِتُّ وَبَقِيْتُ فَرْدًا وَحِيْدًا ثُمَّ فَنِيْتُ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ اِذَا نُشِرْتُ وَبُعِثْتُ يَا مَوْلَايَ

WA IZAA MITTU WA BAQEETU FARDAW WAHEEDAN THUMMA FANEETU WA LAKAL HAMDU IZAA NUSHIRTU WA BU-I'THTU YAA MAWLAAYA

and when I die and remain solitary, alone, and then perish; and to You is praise when I am raised up and resurrected, O my Master.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ بِجَمِيْعِ مَحَامِدِكَ كُلِّهَا عَلٰى جَمِيْعِ نَعْمَاۤئِكَ كُلِّهَا حَتّٰى يَنْتَهِيَ الْحَمْدُ اِلٰى مَا تُحِبُّ رَبَّنَا وَتَرْضٰى

ALLAAHUMMA WA LAKAL HAMDU WA LAKASH SHUKRU BI-JAMEE-I' MAHAAMIDIKA KULLIHAA A'LAA JAMEE-I' NA'MAAA-IKA KULLIHAA HATTAA YANTAHIYAL HAMDU ILAA MAA TUHIBBU RABBANAA WA TARDAA

O Allah, to You is praise and to You is thanks, with all Your praises entirely, for all Your favors entirely, until praise arrives at what You love and are pleased with, our Lord.

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰى كُلِّ اَكْلَةٍ وَشَرْبَةٍ وَبَطْشَةٍ وَقَبْضَةٍ وَبَسْطَةٍ وَفِي كُلِّ مَوْضِعِ شَعْرَةٍ

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU A'LAA KULLI AKLATIW WA SHARBATIW WA BATSHATIW WA QABDATIW WA BASTATIW WA FEE KULLI MAWDI-I' SHA'RAH

O Allah, to You is praise for every meal and drink, for every grasp, every clenching and every opening, and for every place of a single hair,

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا خَالِدًا مَعَ خُلُوْدِكَ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا لَا مُنْتَهٰى لَهُ دُوْنَ عِلْمِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU HAMDAN KHAALIDAM MA-A' KHULOODIK WA LAKAL HAMDU HAMDAL LAA MUNTAHAA LAHU DOONA I'LMIK

O Allah, to You is praise, everlasting praise along with Your everlastingness, and to You is praise with no limit short of Your knowledge,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا لَا اَمَدَ لَهُ دُوْنَ مَشِيَّتِكَ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا لَا اَجْرَ لِقَاۤئِلِهِ اِلَّا رِضَاكَ

WA LAKAL HAMDU HAMDAL LAA AMADA LAHU DOONA MASHEE-ATIK WA LAKAL HAMDU HAMDAL LAA AJRA LI-QAAA-ILIHI ILLAA RIDAAK

and to You is praise with no bound short of Your will, and to You is praise whose sayer's only reward is Your good pleasure,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰى حِلْمِكَ بَعْدَ عِلْمِكَ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلٰى عَفْوِكَ بَعْدَ قُدْرَتِكَ

WA LAKAL HAMDU A'LAA HILMIKA BA'DA I'LMIKA WA LAKAL HAMDU A'LAA A'FWIKA BA'DA QUDRATIK

and to You is praise for Your forbearance despite Your knowledge, and to You is praise for Your pardon despite Your power.

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ بَاعِثَ الْحَمْدِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَارِثَ الْحَمْدِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ بَدِيعَ الْحَمْدِ

WA LAKAL HAMDU BAA-I'THAL HAMD WA LAKAL HAMDU WAARISAL HAMD WA LAKAL HAMDU BADEE-A'L HAMD

and to You is praise, O Initiator of praise; and to You is praise, O Inheritor of praise; and to You is praise, O Originator of praise;

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ مُنْتَهَى الْحَمْدِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ مُبْتَدِعَ الْحَمْدِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ مُشْتَرِيَ الْحَمْدِ

WA LAKAL HAMDU MUNTAHAL HAMD WA LAKAL HAMDU MUBTADI-A'L HAMD WA LAKAL HAMDU MUSHTARIYAL HAMD

and to You is praise, O Utmost of praise; and to You is praise, O Innovator of praise; and to You is praise, O Purchaser of praise;

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَلِيَّ الْحَمْدِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ قَدِيْمَ الْحَمْدِ

WA LAKAL HAMDU WALIYYAL HAMD WA LAKAL HAMDU QADEEMAL HAMD

and to You is praise, O Guardian of praise; and to You is praise, O Ancient of praise;

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ صَادِقَ الْوَعْدِ وَفِيَّ الْعَهْدِ عَزِيْزَ الْجُنْدِ قَاۤئِمَ الْمَجْدِ

WA LAKAL HAMDU SAADIQAL WA'D WAFEE-YAL A'HD A'ZEEZAL JUND QAAA-IMAL MAJD

and to You is praise, O Truthful in promise, Faithful to covenant, Mighty in host, Sustainer of glory,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ رَفِيْعَ الدَّرَجَاتِ مُجِيْبَ الدَّعَوَاتِ مُنْزِلَ الْاٰيَاتِ مِنْ فَوْقِ سَبْعِ سَمَاوَاتٍ

WA LAKAL HAMDU RAFEE-A'D DARAJAAT MUJEEBAD DA'AWAAT MUNZILAL AAYAATI MIN FAWQI SAB-I' SAMAAWAAT

and to You is praise, O Raiser of ranks, Answerer of supplications, Sender-down of verses from above seven heavens,

عَظِيْمَ الْبَرَكَاتِ مُخْرِجَ النُّوْرِ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ وَمُخْرِجَ مَنْ فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ اِلَى النُّوْرِ

A'ZEEMAL BARAKAAT MUKHRIJAN NOORI MINAZ ZULUMAAT WA MUKHRIJA MAN FIZ ZULUMAATI ILAN NOOR

Great in blessings, Bringer of light out of darkness, and Bringer of whoever is in darkness out into light,

مُبَدِّلَ السَّيِّئَاتِ حَسَنَاتٍ وَجَاعِلَ الْحَسَنَاتِ دَرَجَاتٍ

MUBADDILAS SAYYI-AATI HASANAAT WA JAA-I'LAL HASANAATI DARAJAAT

Changer of evil deeds into good deeds, and Maker of good deeds into ranks.

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ غَافِرَ الذَّنْبِ وَقَابِلَ التَّوْبِ شَدِيْدَ الْعِقَابِ ذَا الطَّوْلِ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ اِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيْرُ

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU GHAAFIRAZ ZANB WA QAABILAT TAWB SHADEEDAL I'QAAB ZAT TAWL LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA ILAYKAL MASEER

O Allah, to You is praise, O Forgiver of sin, Acceptor of repentance, Severe in punishment, Possessor of bounty; there is no god but You, to You is the ultimate return.

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي اللَّيْلِ اِذَا يَغْشٰى وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي النَّهَارِ اِذَا تَجَلَّى وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي الْاٰخِرَةِ وَالْاُوْلٰى

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU FIL LAYLI IZAA YAGHSHAA WA LAKAL HAMDU FIN NAHAARI IZAA TAJALLAA WA LAKAL HAMDU FIL AAKHIRATI WAL OOLAA

O Allah, to You is praise in the night when it covers, and to You is praise in the day when it shines forth, and to You is praise in the Last Life and the First,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ كُلِّ نَجْمٍ وَمَلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاۤءِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ الثَّرٰى وَالْحَصٰى وَالنَّوٰى

WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADA KULLI NAJMIW WA MALAKIN FIS SAMAAA-I WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADATH THARAA WAL HASAA WAN NAWAA

and to You is praise as many as every star and angel in the sky, and to You is praise as many as the specks of dust, the pebbles, and the seeds,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ مَا فِي جَوِّ السَّمَاۤءِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ مَا فِي جَوْفِ الْاَرْضِ

WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADA MAA FEE JAWWIS SAMAAA-I WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADA MAA FEE JAWFIL ARD

and to You is praise as many as all that is in the expanse of the sky, and to You is praise as many as all that is in the depths of the earth,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ اَوْزَانِ مِيَاهِ الْبِحَارِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ اَوْرَاقِ الْاَشْجَارِ

WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADA AWZAANI MIYAAHIL BIHAAR WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADA AWRAAQIL ASHJAAR

and to You is praise as much as the weight of the waters of the seas, and to You is praise as many as the leaves of the trees,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ مَا عَلٰى وَجْهِ الْاَرْضِ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ مَا اَحْصٰى كِتَابُكَ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ مَا اَحَاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُكَ

WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADA MAA A'LAA WAJHIL ARD WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADA MAA AHSAA KITAABUK WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADA MAA AHAATA BIHI I'LMUK

and to You is praise as many as all that is on the face of the earth, and to You is praise as many as all that Your Book has enumerated, and to You is praise as many as all that Your knowledge encompasses,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ الْاِنْسِ وَالْجِنِّ وَالْهَوَاۤمِّ وَالطَّيْرِ وَالْبَهَاۤئِمِ وَالسِّبَاعِ

WA LAKAL HAMDU A'DADAL INSI WAL JINNI WAL HAWAAA-MMI WAT TAYRI WAL BAHAAA-IMI WAS SIBAA-A'

and to You is praise as many as mankind, the jinn, the crawling creatures, the birds, the cattle, and the beasts of prey,

حَمْدًا كَثِيْرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيْهِ كَمَا تُحِبُّ رَبَّنَا وَتَرْضٰى وَكَمَا يَنْبَغِي لِكَرَمِ وَجْهِكَ وَعِزِّ جَلَالِكَ

HAMDAN KASEERAN TAYYIBAM MUBAARAKAN FEEHI KAMAA TUHIBBU RABBANAA WA TARDAA WA KAMAA YANBAGHEE LI-KARAMI WAJHIKA WA I'ZZI JALAALIK

a praise abundant, goodly, and blessed, as You love and are pleased with, our Lord, and as befits the generosity of Your Countenance and the might of Your majesty.

Then repeat the following statements ten times each:

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيْفُ الْخَبِيْرُ

LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAHU LAHUL MULKU WA LAHUL HAMDU WA HUWAL LATEEFUL KHABEER

There is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner unto Him; His is the dominion, His is all praise, and He is the Subtle, the Aware.

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِيْ وَيُمِيْتُ وَيُمِيْتُ وَيُحْيِيْ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوْتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAHU LAHUL MULKU WA LAHUL HAMDU YUHYEE WA YUMEETU WA YUMEETU WA YUHYEE WA HUWA HAYYUL LAA YAMOOT BI-YADIHIL KHAYR WA HUWA A'LAA KULLI SHAY-IN QADEER

There is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner unto Him; His is the dominion and His is all praise; He gives life and causes death, and He causes death and gives life, and He is Ever-living, never dying; in His hand is all good, and He has power over all things.

اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ الَّذِيْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّوْمُ وَاَتُوْبُ اِلَيْهِ

ASTAGHFIRUL LAAHAL LAZEE LAA ILAAHA ILLAA HUWAL HAYYUL QAYYOOM WA ATOOBU ILAYH

I seek the forgiveness of Allah, besides Whom there is no god, the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting, and I repent to Him.

يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحِيْمُ يَا رَحِيْمُ يَا بَدِيْعَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ

YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO YAA RAHMAANO YAA RAHMAANO YAA RAHEEMO YAA RAHEEMO YAA BADEE-A'S SAMAAWAATI WAL ARD YAA ZAL JALAALI WAL IKRAAM

O Allah, O Allah! O All-beneficent, O All-beneficent! O All-merciful, O All-merciful! O Originator of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of majesty and honor,

يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ يَا حَيُّ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ يَا اَللهُ يَا لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

YAA HANNAANO YAA MANNAANO YAA HAYYO YAA QAYYOOMO YAA HAYYO LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA YAA ALLAAHO YAA LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANT

O Most Compassionate, O Most Bounteous, O Ever-living, O Self-subsisting, O Ever-living, there is no god but You; O Allah, O He besides whom there is no god,

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ اَللّٰهُمَّ افْعَلْ بِي مَا اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ اٰمِيْنَ اٰمِيْنَ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM ALLAAHUMMA SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMAD ALLAAHUMMAF-A'L BEE MAA ANTA AHLUH AAMEEN AAMEEN

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad. O Allah, do with me that which You are worthy to do. Amen, amen.

(then recite [Surah al-Ikhlas](A116))

You should then say the following:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اصْنَعْ بِيْ مَا اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ وَلَا تَصْنَعْ بِيْ مَا اَنَا اَهْلُهُ

ALLAAHUMMAS NA' BEE MAA ANTA AHLUH WA LAA TASNA' BEE MAA ANAA AHLUH

O Allah, deal with me as You are worthy to do, and do not deal with me as I deserve,

فَاِنَّكَ اَهْلُ التَّقْوٰى وَاَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ وَاَنَا اَهْلُ الذُّنُوْبِ وَالْخَطَايَا فَارْحَمْنِيْ يَا مَوْلَايَ وَاَنْتَ اَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

FA-INNAKA AHLUT TAQWAA WA AHLUL MAGHFIRATI WA ANAA AHLUZ ZUNOOBI WAL KHATAAYAA FARHAMNEE YAA MAWLAAYA WA ANTA ARHAMUR RAAHIMEEN

for You are worthy to be feared, and worthy to forgive, while I am one deserving only of sins and faults; so have mercy on me, O my Master, for You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

Then repeat the following ten times:

لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِيْ لَا يَمُوْتُ

LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAH TAWAKKALTU A'LAL HAYYIL LAZEE LAA YAMOOT

There is no power and no strength except with Allah; I put my trust in the Ever-living Who never dies,

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيْكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِّنَ الذُّلِّ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيْرًا

WAL HAMDU LILLAAHIL LAZEE LAM YATTAKHIZ WALADAW WA LAM YAKUL LAHU SHAREEKUN FIL MULKI WA LAM YAKUL LAHU WALIYYUM MINAZ ZULLI WA KABBIRHU TAKBEERAA

and praise be to Allah, Who has taken no son, has no partner in dominion, and needs no protector out of weakness; so magnify Him with the greatest magnification.
