Dua in the Mornings and Evenings

Text and Translation

Dua Allahu Allahu Rabbi: Muhammad ibn Fuzayl wrote to Imam Muhammad al-Taqi (al-Jawad) (a) asking to be taught a supplication. The Imam replied with this supplication, to be said in the morning and evening. One may then submit his requests — this statement is an introduction to asking for anything, by Allah's leave, the Exalted.

Dua of the Impregnable Shield: Imam al-Sadiq (a) said to Dawud al-Raqqi: do not fail to repeat this three times in the morning and three times in the evening. The Imam added: my father used to say, "This is one of the divinely-treasured supplications."

Morning Dua of Imam Zayn al-Abidin

Begin the day with:

اَبْتَدِءُ يَوْمِىْ هٰذَا بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نِسْيَانِىْ وَعَجَلَتِىْ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ وَمَا شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ

ABTADI-O YAWMEE HAAZAA BAYNA YADAY NISYAANEE WA A'JALATEE BISMIL LAAHI WA MAA SHAAA-AL LAAH

I begin this day of mine ahead of my forgetfulness and my haste, in the name of Allah, and what Allah wills shall be.

Entrusting Oneself to Allah

In the evening, recite 3 times:

اَسْتَوْدِعُ اللّٰهَ الْعَلِىَّ الْاَعْلَى الْجَلِيْلَ الْعَظِيْمَ نَفْسِىْ وَمَنْ يَّعْنِيْنِىْ اَمْرُهُ

ASTAWDI-U'L LAAHAL A'LIYYAL A'LAAL JALEELAL A'ZEEMA NAFSEE WA MAY YA'NEENEE AMRUH

I entrust to Allah, the High, the Most High, the Majestic, the Great, my soul and whoever's affair concerns me;

اَسْتَوْدِعُ اللّٰهَ نَفْسِىَ الْمَرْهُوْبَ الْمَخُوْفَ الْمُتَضَعْضَعَ لِعَظَمَتِهِ كُلُّ شَيْئٍ

ASTAWDI-U'L LAAHA NAFSIYAL MARHOOBAL MAKHOOFAL LAZEE YATADA-A'DA-U' LI-A'ZAMATIHI KULLU SHAY

I entrust to Allah my soul — the Awe-inspiring, the Feared, before Whose greatness everything is humbled.

Dua at the Coming of Night

Greet the evening with:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْئَلُكَ عِنْدَ اِقْبَالِ لَيْلِكَ وَاِدْبَارِ نَهَارِكَ وَحُضُوْرِ صَلَوَاتِكَ وَاَصْوَاتِ دُعَاۤئِكَ اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALUKA I'NDA IQBAALI LAYLIKA WA IDBAARI NAHAARIKA WA HUDOORI SALAWAATIKA WA ASWAATI DU-A'AA-IKA AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMAD

O Allah, I ask You, at the approach of Your night and the departure of Your day, at the presence of Your prayers and the voices of those who call upon You, to bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.

Then submit your requests.

Morning Dua of Imam al-Baqir

Begin the morning with:

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ وَبِاللّٰهِ وَاِلَى اللّٰهِ وَفِىْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ وَعَلٰى مِلَّةِ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ

BISMIL LAAHI WA BILLAAHI WA ILAL LAAHI WA FEE SABEELIL LAAHI WA A'LAA MILLATI RASOOLIL LAAHI SALLAL LAAHO A'LAYHI WA AALIH

In the name of Allah, by Allah, to Allah, in the way of Allah, and upon the religion of the Messenger of Allah — Allah's blessings be upon him and his Household —

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِلَيْكَ اَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِىْ وَاِلَيْكَ فَوَّضْتُ اَمْرِىْ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

ALLAAHUMMA ILAYKA ASLAMTU NAFSEE WA ILAYKA FAWWADTU AMREE WA A'LAYKA TAWAKKALTU YAA RABBAL A'ALAMEEN

O Allah, to You I have submitted myself, to You I have entrusted my affair, and upon You I rely, O Lord of the worlds.

اَللّٰهُمَّ احْفَظْنِىْ بِحِفْظِ الْاِيْمَانِ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَىَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِىْ وَعَنْ يَّمِيْنِىْ وَعَنْ شِمَالِىْ وَمِنْ فَوْقِىْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِىْ وَمِنْ قِبَلِى

ALLAAHUMMAH FAZNEE BI-HIFZIL EEMAANI MIM BAYNI YADAYYA WA MIN KHALFEE WA A'N YAMEENEE WA A'N SHIMAALEE WA MIN FAWQEE WA MIN TAHTEE WA MIN QIBALEE

O Allah, protect me with the protection of faith — from before me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, from above me, from beneath me, and from all around me,

لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ نَسْئَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ مِنْ كُلِّ سُوَّءٍ وَشَرٍّ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِ

LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANT LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAH NAS-ALUKAL A'FWA WAL A'AAFIYATA MIN KULLI SOOO-IN WA SHARRIN FID DUNYAA WAL AAKHIRAH

There is no god but You; there is no power and no strength except with Allah; we ask You for pardon and well-being from every evil and harm, in this world and the Hereafter.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَعُوْذُبِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَمِنْ ضُغْطَةِ الْقَبْرِ وَمِنْ ضِيْقِ الْقَبْرِ وَاَعُوْذُبِكَ مِنْ سَطَوَاتِ اللَّيْلِ والنَّهَارِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE A-U'ZU BIKA MIN A'ZAABIL QABRI WA MIN DAGHTATIL QABRI WA MIN DEEQIL QABRI WA A-U'ZU BIKA MIN SATAWAATIL LAYLI WAN NAHAAR

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from the squeezing of the grave, and from the narrowness of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the assaults of night and day,

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ الْمَشْعَرِ الْحَرامِ وَرَبَّ الْبَلَدِ الْحَرَامِ وَرَبَّ الْحِلِّ وَالْاِحْرَامِ اَبْلِغْ مُحَمَّدًا وَّاٰلَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِّىْ السَّلَامَ

ALLAAHUMMA RABBAL MASH-A'RIL HARAAM WA RABBAL BALADIL HARAAM WA RABBAL HILLI WAL IHRAAM ABLIGH MUHAMMADAN WA AALA MUHAMMADIN A'NNIS SALAAM

O Allah, Lord of the Sacred Site, Lord of the Sacred City, Lord of what is lawful and of the state of ihram, convey my greeting of peace to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَعُوْذُ بِدِرْعِكَ الْحَصِيْنَةِ وَاَعُوْذُ بِجَمْعِكَ اَنْ تُمِيْتَنِىْ غَرَقًا اَوْ حَرَقًا اَوْ شَرَقًا اَوْ قَوَدًا اَوْ صَبْرًا اَوْ مُسَمًّا اَوْ تَرَدِّيًا فِىْ بِئْرٍ اَوْ اَكِيْلَ السَّبُعِ اَوْ مَوْتَ الْفُجَاۤئَةِ اَوْ بِشَىْءٍ مِّنْ مَّيْتَاتِ السَّوْءِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE A-U'ZU BI-DIR-I'KAL HASEENATI WA A-U'ZU BI-JAM-I'KA AN TUMEETANEE GHARAQAN AW HARAQAN AW SHARAQAN AW QAWADAN AW SABRAN AW MUSAMMAN AW TARADDIYAN FEE BI-RIN AW AKEELAS SABU-I' AW MAWTAL FUJAAA-ATI AW BISHAY-IM MIN MAYYATAATIS SOOO-I

O Allah, I seek refuge in Your protective shield, and I seek refuge in Your gathering, that You not let me die by drowning, by burning, by choking, by execution in retaliation, under torture, by poisoning, by falling into a well, by being devoured by a wild beast, by sudden death, or by any evil manner of death,

وَلٰكِنْ اَمِتْنِىْ عَلٰى فِرَاشِىْ فِىْ طَاعَتِكَ وَطَاعَةِ رَسُوْلِكَ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ مُصِيْبًا لِلْحَقِّ غَيْرَ مُخْطِئٍ

WA LAAKIN AMITNEE A'LAA FIRAASHEE FEE TAA-A'TIKA WA TAA-A'TI RASOOLIKA SALLAL LAAHO A'LAYHI WA AALIHI MUSEEBAL LIL HAQQI GHAYRA MUKHTI

but rather let me die upon my bed, in obedience to You and to Your Messenger — Allah's blessings be upon him and his Household — attaining to the truth, not erring,

اَوْ فِىْ الصَّفِ الَّذِيْنَ نَعَّتَهُمْ فِىْ كِتَابِكَ كَاَنَّهُمْ بُنْيَانٌ مَّرْصُوْصٌ

AW FIS SAFFIL LAZEENA NA-A'TTAHUM FEE KITAABIKA KA-ANNAHUM BUNYAANUM MARSOOS

or in the ranks of those You have described in Your Book as being like a compact, solid structure.

I place myself, my children, and all that my Lord has bestowed on me under the protection of [Surah al-Falaq](A117) and [Surah al-Nas](A118).

الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ وَالْحَمْدُلِلّٰهِ مِثْلَ مَا خَلَقَ وَالْحَمْدُلِلّٰهِ مِلْاَ مَا خَلَقَ

ALHAMDU LILLAAHI A'DADA MAA KHALAQAL LAAHO WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI MISLA MAA KHALAQ WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI MIL-A MAA KHALAQ

Praise be to Allah as many as what Allah has created, and praise be to Allah the like of what He has created, and praise be to Allah filling what He has created,

وَالْحَمْدُلِلّٰهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ وَالْحَمْدُلِلّٰهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ وَالْحَمْدُلِلّٰهِ رِضَا نَفْسِهِ

WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI MIDAADA KALIMAATIHI WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI ZINATA A'RSHIHI WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI RIDAA NAFSIH

and praise be to Allah as abundant as the ink of His words, and praise be to Allah as much as the weight of His Throne, and praise be to Allah to the extent of His own good pleasure,

وَلَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ الْحَلِيْمُ الْكَرِيْمُ وَلَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ الْعَلِىُّ الْعَظِيْمُ

WA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHUL HALEEMUL KAREEM WA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHUL A'LIYYUL A'ZEEM

and there is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous, and there is no god but Allah, the Most High, the All-magnificent,

سُبْحانَ اللّٰهِ رَبِّ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِيْنَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ

SUBHAANAL LAAHI RABBIS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARDEENA WA MAA BAYNAHUMAA WA RABBIL A'RSHIL A'ZEEM

glory be to Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earths and what is between them, and Lord of the Great Throne.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنّى اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ دَرَكِ الشَّقَّاۤءِ وَمِنْ شَمَاتَةِ الْاَعْدَاۤءِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE A-U'ZU BIKA MIN DARAKISH SHAQAAA-I WA MIN SHAMAATATIL A'DAAA-I

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the depths of misery and from the gloating of enemies,

وَاَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ وَالْوَقْرِ وَاَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ سُوَّءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِى الْاَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ وَالْوَلَدِ

WA A-U'ZU BIKA MINAL FAQRI WAL WAQRI WA A-U'ZU BIKA MIN SOOO-IL MANZARI FIL AHLI WAL MAALI WAL WALAD

and I seek refuge in You from poverty and from deafness of heart, and I seek refuge in You from an evil turn of fortune in family, wealth, and children.

Then recite salawat on the Holy Prophet and his Household 10 times.

Dua after Maghrib & Fajr ×7

After the Maghrib and Fajr prayers, recite 7 times:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAH

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful; there is no power and no strength except with Allah.

Morning & Evening Praise and Verses

In the morning and evening, recite twice:

اَلْحَمْدُ لِرَبِّ الصَّبَاحِ اَلْحَمْدُ لِفَالِقِ الْاِصْبَاحِ

ALHAMDU LI-RABBIS SABAAH ALHAMDU LI-FAALIQIL ISBAAH

Praise be to the Lord of the morning; praise be to the Cleaver of the dawn.

Then say this praise of Allah:

اَلْحَمْدُلِلّٰهِ الَّذِىْ اَذْهَبَ اللَّيْلَ بِقُدْرَتِهِ وَجَاۤءَ بِالنَّهَارِ بِرَحْمَتِهِ وَنَحْنُ فِىْ عَافِيَةٍ

ALHAMDU LILLAAHIL LAZEE AZHABAL LAYLA BI-QUDRATIHI WA JAAA-A BIN NAHAARI BI-RAHMATIHI WA NAHNU FEE A'AAFIYAH

Praise be to Allah, Who has taken away the night by His power and brought the day by His mercy, and we are in well-being.

Then recite [Ayat al-Kursi](A4), the last four verses of [Surah al-Hashr](A63) (59:21-24), the first ten verses of Surah al-Saffat, and the following verses and doxological statements:

وَالصَّاۤفَّاتِ صَفًّا

WAS SAAA-FFAATI SAFFAA

By those ranged in ranks,

فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا

FAZ ZAAJIRAATI ZAJRAA

and those who drive away with a driving,

فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا

FAT TAALIYAATI ZIKRAA

and those who recite a reminder;

اِنَّ اِلٰهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ

INNA ILAAHAKUM LAWAAHID

verily your God is indeed One,

رَبُّ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ

RABBUS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARDI WA MAA BAYNAHUMAA WA RABBUL MASHAARIQ

Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the points of sunrise.

اِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاۤءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِيْنَةِ الْكَوَاكِبِ

INNAA ZAYYANNAS SAMAAA-AD DUNYAA BI-ZEENATIL KAWAAKIB

Verily We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars,

وَحِفْظًا مِّنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَّارِدٍ

WA HIFZAM MIN KULLI SHAYTAANIM MAARID

and made it a safeguard against every rebellious devil,

لَّا يَسَّمَّعُوْنَ اِلَى الْمَلَاِ الْاَعْلٰى وَيُقْذَفُوْنَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ

LAA YASSAMMA-U'NA ILAL MALA-IL A'LAA WA YUQZAFOONA MIN KULLI JAANIB

so they may not listen to the exalted assembly, and are pelted from every side,

دُحُوْرًا وَّلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَّاصِبٌ

DUHOORAW WA LAHUM A'ZAABUW WAASIB

being driven off, and for them is an unceasing punishment;

اِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَاَتْبَعَهٗ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ

ILLAA MAN KHATIFAL KHATFATA FA-ATBA-A'HU SHIHAABUN THAAQIB

except one who snatches a snatch, and a piercing flame pursues him.

وَسُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُوْنَ وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ وَالْحَمْدُلِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

WA SUBHAANA RABBIKA RABBIL I'ZZATI A'MMAA YASIFOON WA SALAAMUN A'LAL MURSALEENA WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI RABBIL A'ALAMEEN

And glorified is your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they attribute to Him; and peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

فَسُبْحَانَ الِلّٰهِ حِيْنَ تُمْسُوْنَ وَحِيْنَ تُصْبِحُوْنَ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِى السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَعَشِيًّا وَّحِيْنَ تُظْهِرُوْنَ

FASUBHAANAL LAAHI HEENA TUMSOONA WA HEENA TUSBIHOONA WA LAHUL HAMDU FIS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARDI WA A'SHIYYAW WA HEENA TUZHIROON

So glory be to Allah when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning, and unto Him is praise in the heavens and the earth, at nightfall and at noon,

يُخْرِجُ الْحَىَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَىِّ وَيُحْيِى الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَكَذٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُوْنَ

YUKHRIJUL HAYYA MINAL MAYYITI WA YUKHRIJUL MAYYITA MINAL HAYYI WA YUHYIL ARDA BA'DA MAWTIHAA WA KAZAALIKA TUKHRAJOON

He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and revives the earth after its death; and even so shall you be brought forth.

سُبُّوْحٌ قُدُّوْسٌ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّ الْمَلَاۤئِكَةِ وَالرُّوْحِ

SUBBOOHUN QUDDOOSUR RABBUNAA WA RABBUL MALAAA-IKATI WAR ROOH

All-glorious, All-holy is our Lord, and the Lord of the angels and the Spirit.

سَبَقَتْ رَحْمَتُكَ غَضَبَكَ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

SABAQAT RAHMATUKA GHADABAK LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANT

Your mercy has preceded Your wrath; there is no god but You.

سُبْحَانَكَ اِنِّىْ ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِىْ فَاغْفِرْ لِىْ وَارْحَمْنِىْ وَتُبْ عَلَىَّ اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ

SUBHAANAKA INNEE ZALAMTU NAFSEE FAGHFIR LEE WARHAMNEE WA TUB A'LAYYA INNAKA ANTAT TAWWAABUR RAHEEM

Glory be to You; verily I have wronged myself, so forgive me, have mercy on me, and accept my repentance; verily You are the Most Relenting, the Most Merciful.

Dua Asbahtu ala Ahdika

Recite in the mornings:

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ اَحْمَدُكَ وَاَسْتَعِيْنُكَ وَاَنْتَ رَبِّىْ وَاَنَا عَبْدُكَ

ALLAAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU AHMADUKA WA ASTA-E'ENUKA WA ANTA RABBEE WA ANAA A'BDUK

O Allah, to You is praise; I praise You and I seek Your help; You are my Lord and I am Your servant,

اَصْبَحْتُ عَلٰى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ وَاُوْمِنُ بِوَعْدِكَ وَاُوْفِىْ بِعَهْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ

ASBAHTU A'LAA A'HDIKA WA WA'DIKA WA U-MINU BI-WA'DIKA WA OOFEE BI-A'HDIKA MAS TATA'T

I have entered this morning upon Your covenant and Your promise, as far as I am able; I believe in Your promise and I fulfill Your covenant as much as I can,

وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ

WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHI WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAHU WA ASH-HADU ANNA MUHAMMADAN A'BDUHU WA RASOOLUH

and there is no power and no strength except with Allah, alone, with no partner unto Him, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.

اَصْبَحْتُ عَلٰى فِطْرَةِ الْاِسْلَامِ وَكَلِمَةِ الْاِخْلَاصِ وَمِلَّةِ اِبْرَهِيْمَ وَدِيْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَوَاتُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْهِمَا وَاٰلِهِمَا

ASBAHTU A'LAA FITRATIL ISLAAMI WA KALIMATIL IKHLAASI WA MILLATI IBRAAHEEMA WA DEENI MUHAMMADIN SALAWAATUL LAAHI A'LAYHIMAA WA AALIHIMAA

I have entered this morning upon the natural disposition of Islam, the word of sincerity, the religion of Ibrahim, and the faith of Muhammad — Allah's blessings be upon them both and their Households,

عَلٰى ذٰلِكَ اُحْيِىْ وَاَمُوْتُ اِنْشَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ

A'LAA ZAALIKA UHYAA WA AMOOTU IN SHAAA-AL LAAH

upon this I live and upon this I die, if Allah wills.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اَحْيِنِىْ مَا اَحْيَيْتَنِىْ وَاَمِتْنِىْ اِذَا اَمَتَّنِىْ عَلٰى ذٰلِكَ وَابْعَثْنِىْ اِذَا بَعَثْتَنِىْ عَلٰى ذٰلِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA AHYINEE MAA AHYAYTANEE WA AMITNEE IZAA AMATTANEE A'LAA ZAALIKA WAB-A'THNEE IZAA BA-A'THTANEE A'LAA ZAALIK

O Allah, keep me alive upon this for as long as You keep me alive, cause me to die upon this when You cause me to die, and raise me up upon this when You raise me up.

اَبْتَغِىْ بِذٰلِكَ رِضْوَانَكَ وَاتِّبَاعَ سَبِيْلِكَ اِلَيْكَ اَلْجَاْتُ ظَهْرِىْ وَاِلَيْكَ فَوَّضْتُ اَمْرِىْ

ABTAGHEE BI-ZAALIKA RIDWAANAKA WAT TIBAA-A' SABEELIK ILAYKA ALJA-TU ZAHREE WA ILAYKA FAWWADTU AMREE

I seek, in this, Your good pleasure and the following of Your path; to You I have leaned my back, and to You I have entrusted my affair.

اٰلُ مُحَمَّدٍ اَئِمَّتِىْ لَيْسَ لِىْ اَئِمَّةٌ غَيْرُهُمْ بِهِمْ اَئْتَمُّ وَاِيَّاهُمْ اَتَوَلِّىْ وَبِهِمْ اَقْتَدِىْ

AALU MUHAMMADIN A-IMMATEE LAYSA LEE A-IMMATUN GHAYRUHUM BIHIM A-TAMMU WA IYYAAHUM ATAWALLAA WA BIHIM AQTADEE

The Household of Muhammad are my Imams; I have no Imams other than them; by them I am led, them alone I take as my guardians, and them I follow.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُمْ اَوْلِيَاۤئِىْ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِ وَاجْعَلْنِىْ اُوَالِىْ اَوْلِيَاۤئَهُمْ وَاُعَادِىْ اَعْدَاۤئَهُمْ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِ

ALLAAHUMMAJ-A'LHUM AWLIYAAA-EE FID DUNYAA WAL AAKHIRATI WAJ-A'LNEE UWAALEE AWLIYAAA-AHUM WA U-A'ADEE A'DAAA-AHUM FID DUNYAA WAL AAKHIRAH

O Allah, make them my guardians in this world and the Hereafter, and make me befriend their friends and oppose their enemies in this world and the Hereafter,

وَاَلْحِقْنِىْ بِالصَّالِحِيْنَ وَاٰبَاۤئِىْ مَعَهُمْ

WA ALHIQNEE BIS SAALIHEENA WA AABAAA-EE MA-A'HUM

and join me with the righteous, and my forefathers together with them.

Dua Not to Be Neglected

In the morning and evening, never neglect to recite:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَصْبَحْتُ اَسْتَغْفِرُكَ فِىْ هٰذَا الصَّبَاحِ وَفِىْ هٰذَا الْيَوْمِ لِاَهْلِ رَحْمَتِكَ وَاَبْرَءُ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ اَهْلِ لَعْنَتِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ASBAHTU ASTAGHFIRUKA FEE HAAZAS SABAAHI WA FEE HAAZAL YAWMI LI-AHLI RAHMATIKA WA ABRA-O ILAYKA MIN AHLI LA'NATIK

O Allah, I have entered this morning seeking Your forgiveness, in this morning and this day, for the people of Your mercy, and I disown before You the people of Your curse,

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَصْبَحْتُ اَبْرَءُ اِلَيْكَ فِىْ هٰذَا الْيَوْمِ وَفِىْ هٰذَا الصَّبَاحِ مِمَّنْ نَحْنُ بَيْنَ ظَهْرِانِيْهِمْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِيْنَ وَمِمَّا كَانُوْا يَعْبُدُوْنَ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَاسِقِيْنَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ASBAHTU ABRA-O ILAYKA FEE HAAZAL YAWMI WA FEE HAAZAS SABAAHI MIMMAN NAHNU BAYNA ZAHRAANEEHIM MINAL MUSHRIKEENA WA MIMMAA KAANOO YA'BUDOONA INNAHUM KAANOO QAWMA SOOO-IN FAASIQEEN

O Allah, I have entered this morning disowning before You, this day and this morning, those polytheists among whom we dwell and what they worship; they were indeed an evil, transgressing people.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ مَا اَنْزَلْتَ مِنَ السَّمَاۤءِ اِلَى الْاَرْضِ فِىْ هٰذَا الصَّبَاحِ وَفِىْ هٰذَا الْيَوْمِ بَرَكَةً عَلٰى اَوْلِيَاۤئِكَ وَعِقَابًا عَلٰى اَعْدَاۤئِكَ

ALLAAHUMMAJ-A'L MAA ANZALTA MINAS SAMAAA-I ILAL ARDI FEE HAAZAS SABAAHI WA FEE HAAZAL YAWMI BARAKATAN A'LAA AWLIYAAA-IKA WA I'QAABAN A'LAA A'DAAA-IK

O Allah, make what You send down from the sky to the earth, this morning and this day, a blessing upon Your friends and a punishment upon Your enemies,

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَالِ مَنْ وَالَاكَ وَعَادِ مَنْ عَادَاكَ اَللّٰهُمَّ اخْتِمْ لِىْ بِالْاَمْنِ وَالْاِيْمَانِ كُلَّمَا طَلَعَتْ شَمْسٌ اَوْ غَرَبَتْ

ALLAAHUMMA WAALI MAY WAALAAKA WA A'ADI MAN A'ADAAK ALLAAHUMMAKH TIM LEE BIL AMNI WAL EEMAANI KULLAMAA TALA-A'T SHAMSUN AW GHARABAT

O Allah, befriend whoever befriends You and oppose whoever opposes You; O Allah, seal my life with security and faith, every time the sun rises or sets,

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْلِىْ وَلِوَالِدَىَّ وَارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِىْ صَغِيْرًا

ALLAAHUMMAGH FIRLEE WA LI-WAALIDAYYA WARHAMHUMAA KAMAA RABBAYAANEE SAGHEERAA

O Allah, forgive me and my parents, and have mercy on them as they brought me up when I was little,

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَالْمُسْلِمِيْنَ وَالْمُسْلِمَاتِ اَلْاَحْيَاۤءِ مِنْهُمْ وَالْاَمْوَاتِ اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَهُمْ وَمَثْوٰيهُمْ

ALLAAHUMMAGH FIR LIL MU'MINEENA WAL MU'MINAATI WAL MUSLIMEENA WAL MUSLIMAATIL AHYAAA-I MINHUM WAL AMWAAT ALLAAHUMMA INNAKA TA'LAMU MUTAQALLABAHUM WA MATHWAAHUM

O Allah, forgive the believing men and women and the Muslim men and women, the living among them and the dead; O Allah, verily You know their movement and their resting place,

اَللّٰهُمَّ احْفَظْ اِمَامَ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ بِحِفْظِ الْاِيْمَانِ وَانْصُرْهُ نَصْرًا عَزِيْزًا وَافْتَحْ لَهُ فَتْحًا يَّسِيْرًا وَاجْعَلْ لَهُ وَلَنَا مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ سُلْطَانًا نَصِيْرًا

ALLAAHUMMAH FAZ IMAAMAL MUSLIMEENA BI-HIFZIL EEMAANI WAN SURHU NASRAN A'ZEEZAW WAFTAH LAHU FATHAY YASEERAW WAJ-A'L LAHU WA LANAA MIL LADUNKA SULTAANAN NASEERAA

O Allah, protect the leader of the Muslims with the protection of faith, grant him a mighty victory, and open for him an easy triumph, and grant him and us, from Yourself, an authority that gives aid.

اَللّٰهُمَّ الْعَنْ فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا وَالْفِرَقَ الْمُخْتَلِفَةَ عَلٰى رَسُوْلِكَ وَوُلَاةِ الْاَمْرِ بَعْدَ رَسُوْلِكَ وَالْاَئِمَّةِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَشِيْعَتِهِمْ

ALLAAHUMMAL A'N FULAANAN WA FULAANAW WAL FIRAQAL MUKHTALIFATA A'LAA RASOOLIKA WA WULAATIL AMRI BA'DA RASOOLIKA WAL A-IMMATI MIM BA'DIHI WA SHEE-A'TIHIM

O Allah, curse so-and-so and so-and-so, and the factions who disputed against Your Messenger, the rightful leaders after Your Messenger, the Imams after him, and their followers,

وَاَسْئَلُكَ الزِّيَادَةَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ وَالْاِقْرَارَ بِمَا جاۤءَ بِهِ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَالتَّسْلِيْمَ لِاَمْرِكَ وَالْمُحَافَظَةَ عَلٰى مَا اَمَرْتَ بِهِ لَا اَبْتَغِىْ بِهِ بَدَلًا وَّلَا اَشْتَرِىْ بِهٖ ثَمَنًا قَلِيْلًا

WA AS-ALUKAZ ZIYAADATA MIN FADLIKA WAL IQRAARA BIMAA JAAA-A BIHI MIN I'NDIKA WAT TASLEEMA LI-AMRIKA WAL MUHAAFAZATA A'LAA MAA AMARTA BIHI LAA ABTAGHEE BIHI BADALAW WA LAA ASHTAREE BIHI THAMANAN QALEELAA

and I ask You for an increase from Your bounty, for acknowledgment of what he brought from You, for submission to Your command, and for safeguarding what You have commanded — seeking no substitute for it and selling it for no small price.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اهْدِنِىْ فِيْمَنْ هَدَيْتَ وَقِنِىْ شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ اِنَّكَ تَقْضِىْ وَلَا يُقْضٰى عَلَيْكَ وَلَايَذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ تَبَارَكْتَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ

ALLAAHUMMAH DINEE FEEMAN HADAYTA WA QINEE SHARRA MAA QADAYTA INNAKA TAQDEE WA LAA YUQDAA A'LAYKA WA LAA YAZILLU MAN WAALAYTA TABAARAKTA WA TA-A'ALAYT

O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed; verily You decree and no one decrees over You, and none whom You befriend is ever humiliated; blessed and exalted are You.

سُبْحَانَكَ رَبَّ الْبَيْتِ تَقَبَّلْ مِنِّىْ دُعَاۤئِىْ وَمَا تَقَرَّبْتُ بِهِ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَضَاعِفْهُ لِىْ اَضْعَافًا كَثِيْرَةً

SUBHAANAKA RABBAL BAYTI TAQABBAL MINNEE DU-A'AA-EE WA MAA TAQARRABTU BIHI ILAYKA MIN KHAYRIN FA-DAA-I'FHU LEE AD-A'AAFAN KASEERAH

Glory be to You, Lord of the House; accept from me my supplication, and whatever good by which I have drawn near to You, multiply it for me many times over,

وَاٰتِنَا مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ اَجْرًا عَظِيْمًا رَبِّ مَا اَحْسَنَ مَا اَبْلَيْتَنِىْ وَاَعْظَمَ مَا اَعْطَيْتَنِىْ وَاَطْوَلَ مَا عَافَيْتَنِىْ وَاَكْثَرَ مَا سَتَرْتَ عَلَىَّ

WA AATINAA MIL LADUNKA AJRAN A'ZEEMAA RABBI MAA AHSANA MAA ABLAYTANEE WA A'ZAMA MAA A'TAYTANEE WA ATWALA MAA A'AAFAYTANEE WA AKTHARA MAA SATARTA A'LAYYA

and grant us, from Yourself, a great reward. My Lord, how excellent is that with which You have tried me, how great is what You have given me, how long is the well-being You have granted me, and how much You have concealed of my faults;

فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ يَا اِلٰهِىْ كَثِيْرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا عَلَيْهِ مِلْاَ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمِلْاَ الْاَرْضِ وَمِلْاَ مَا شَاۤءَ رَبِّىْ وَرَضِىَ وَكَمَا يَنْبَغِىْ لِوَجْهِ رَبِّىْ ذِى الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ

FALAKAL HAMDU YAA ILAAHEE KASEERAN TAYYIBAM MUBAARAKAN A'LAYHI MIL-AS SAMAAWAATI WA MIL-AL ARDI WA MIL-A MAA SHAAA-A RABBEE WA RADIYA WA KAMAA YANBAGHEE LI-WAJHI RABBEE ZIL JALAALI WAL IKRAAM

so to You is praise, O my God, abundant, goodly, and blessed praise, filling the heavens, filling the earth, and filling whatever my Lord wills and is pleased with, and as befits the Countenance of my Lord, Possessor of Majesty and Honor.

Dawn Dhikr: Tahlil, Salawat, Tasbih

At dawn, recite 10 times:

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِىْ وَيُمِيْتُ وَهُوَ حَىُّ لَايَمُوْتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAHU LAHUL MULKU WA LAHUL HAMDU YUHYEE WA YUMEETU WA HUWA HAYYUL LAA YAMOOT BI-YADIHIL KHAYR WA HUWA A'LAA KULLI SHAY-IN QADEER

There is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner unto Him; His is the dominion and His is praise; He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-living, never dying; in His hand is all good, and He has power over all things.

Then repeat the invocation of blessings upon the Holy Prophet and his Household ten times. Then repeat the glorification (tasbih) thirty-five times:

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ

SUBHAANAL LAAH

Glory be to Allah.

Then repeat the profession of Oneness (tahlil) thirty-five times:

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ

LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAH

There is no god but Allah.

Then repeat the praise (tahmid) thirty-five times:

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ

ALHAMDU LILLAAH

Praise be to Allah.

Dua Allahu Allahu Rabbi

In the morning and evening, recite:

اَللهُ اَللهُ اَللهُ رَبِّىِ الرَّحْمٰنُ الرَّحِيْمُ لَا اُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا

ALLAAHO ALLAAHO ALLAAHO RABBIYAR RAHMAANUR RAHEEM LAA USHRIKU BIHI SHAY-AA

Allah, Allah, Allah is my Lord, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful; I associate nothing with Him.

Then submit your requests.

Dua of the Impregnable Shield

In the morning and evening, recite 3 times each:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِىْ فِىْ دِرْعِكَ الْحَصِيْنَةِ الَّتِىْ تَجْعَلُ فِيْهَا مَنْ تُرِيْدُ

ALLAAHUMMAJ-A'LNEE FEE DIR-I'KAL HASEENATIL LATEE TAJ-A'LU FEEHAA MAN TUREED

O Allah, place me within Your protective shield, in which You place whomever You will.
