Nafilah of Zuhr

Text and Translation

The Supererogatory Noon Prayer consists of eight units. In the first two units, make the intention, utter the Takbir statement seven times with [the supplications dedicated to these statements](E104), and pray Almighty Allah to protect you against Satan the accursed:

اَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيْمِ

AO'OZO BILLAAHE MENASH SHAYTAANIR RAJEEM

I pray for Allah’s protection from Satan, the accursed.

Recite [Surah al-Faatehah](A5) and [Surah al-Tawheed](A116) in the first unit and [Surah al-Faatehah](A5) and [Surah al-Kafirun](A113) (No. 109) in the second.

Upon accomplishment, repeat the Takbir statements three times, recite [Tasbih al-Zahra](I9), and then recite this supplicatory prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ ضَعِيْفٌ

ALLAAHUMMA INNE ZA-E’EFUN

O Allah, I am weak;

فَقَوِّ فِيْ رِضَاكَ ضَعْفِيْ

FAQAWWE FEE REZAAKA ZA’FEE

so, (please) strengthen my weakness in the course of Your pleasure,

وَخُذْ اِلَى الْخَيْرِ بِنَاصِيَتِيْ

WA KHUZ ELAL KHAYRE BENAASEYATEE

lead my forelock to goodness,

وَاجْعَلِ الْاِيْمَانَ مُنْتَهٰى رِضَائِيْ

WAJ A’LIL EEMAANA MUNTAHAA REZAA-EE

cause faith to be the utmost of my pleasure,

وَبَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْمَا قَسَمْتَ لِيْ

WA BAARIK LEE FEEMAA QASAMTA LEE

bless for me that which You have decided for me,

وَبَلِّغْنِيْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ كُلَّ الَّذِيْ اَرْجُوْ مِنْكَ

WA BALLIGHNEE BE-RAHMATEKA KULLAL LAZEE ARJOO MINKA

make me attain, by means of Your mercy, all that which I wish from You,

وَاجْعَلْ لِيْ وُدًّا

WAJ A’L LEE WUDDAN

and appoint love for me,

وَسُرُوْرًا لِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

WA SOROORAL MOAMENEENA

delight for the believers,

وَعَهْدًا عِنْدَكَ

WA A’HDAN I’NDAKA

and a covenant with You.
