Merits

In his book of Jamal al-Usbu', Sayyid Ibn Tawus has recorded a special prayer and supplication for each of the Holy Imams (a.s.), to be offered on Fridays.

This prayer consists of two units in each of which [Surah al-Fatihah](A5) is recited once and [Surah al-Tawhid](A116) is repeated seventy times.

Text and Translation

Upon concluding the prayer, say the following supplication:

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ الْاَرْوَاحِ الْفَانِيَةِ

ALLAAHUMMA RABBAL ARWAAHIL FAANIYAH

O Allah, Lord of the souls passing away

وَالْاَجْسَادِ الْبَالِيَةِ

WAL AJSAADIL BAALIYAH

and the rotten corpses!

اَسْاَلُكَ بِطَاعَةِ الْاَرْوَاحِ الرَّاجِعَةِ اِلٰى اَجْسَادِهَا

AS'ALUKA BITAA'ATIL ARWAAHIR RAAJI'ATI ILAA AJSAADIHAA

I beseech You in the name of the obedience of the souls that are restored to their bodies

وَبِطَاعَةِ الْاَجْسَادِ الْمُلْتَئِمَةِ بِعُرُوْقِهَا

WA BITAA'ATIL AJSAADIL MULTA'IMATI BI-U'ROOQIHAA

and the obedience of the corpses that join their veins

وَبِكَلِمَتِكَ النَّافِذَةِ بَيْنَهُمْ

WA BIKALIMATIKAN NAAFIDHATI BAYNAHUM

and in the name of Your Word that is effective on them

وَاَخْذِكَ الْحَقَّ مِنْهُمْ

WA AKHDHIKAL HAQQA MINHUM

and in the name of Your judging justly among them;

وَالْخَلَائِقُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

WAL KHALAA'IQU BAYNA YADAYK

while the [other] creatures are standing before You

يَنْتَظِرُوْنَ فَصْلَ قَضَائِكَ

YANTAZIROONA FASLA QADAA'IK

awaiting the decisions of Your judgment,

وَيَرْجُوْنَ رَحْمَتَكَ وَيَخَافُوْنَ عِقَابَكَ

WA YARJOONA RAHMATAKA WA YAKHAAFOONA I'QAABAK

hoping for Your mercy, and fearing Your punishment;

صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMAD

(please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَاجْعَلِ النُّوْرَ فِيْ بَصَرِيْ

WAJ'ALIN NOORA FEE BASAREE

place light in my sight,

وَالْيَقِيْنَ فِيْ قَلْبِيْ

WAL YAQEENA FEE QALBEE

strong belief in my heart,

وَذِكْرَكَ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ عَلٰى لِسَانِيْ

WA DHIKRAKA BIL LAYLI WAN NAHAARI A'LAA LISAANEE

and reference to You night and day on my tongue,

وَعَمَلًا صَالِحاً فَارْزُقْنِيْ

WA A'MALAN SAALIHAN FARZUQNEE

and provide me with a righteous deed.
