Longer dua: Source: Biharul Anwar, vol. 98, page 324.

Two-Unit Prayer at the Head Side

At the side of the head, pray 2 units: recite [Surah al-Fatihah](A5) and [Surah al-Rahman](A59) in the first unit, and [Surah al-Fatihah](A5) and [Surah al-Mulk](A71) in the second.

Tasbih of Imam Ali & Lady Fatimah

After visiting him, at the head side, repeat the glorification of Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.) 1,000 times:

سُبْحَانَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ تَنْفَدُ خَزَائِنُهُ

SUBHAANAL LAZEE LAA TANFADO KHAZAAA-ENOHU

Glory be to Him Whose reserves never run out.

سُبْحَانَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ تَبِيدُ مَعَالِمُهُ

SUBHAANAL LAZEE LAA TABEEDO MA-A’ALEMOHU

Glory be to Him Whose signs are never exterminated.

سُبْحَانَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يَفْنَىٰ مَا عِنْدَهُ

SUBHAANAL LAZEE LAA YAFNAA MAA I’NDAHU

Glory be to Him Whose possessions never expire.

سُبْحَانَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يُشْرِكُ احَداً فِي حُكْمِهِ

SUBHAANAL LAZEE LAA YUSHREKO AHADAN FEE HUKMEHI

Glory be to Him Who never betakes to Himself a partner in His judgments.

سُبْحَانَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ ٱضْمِحْلاَلَ لِفَخْرِهِ

SUBHAANAL LAZEE LAD MEHLAALA LE-FAKHREHI

Glory be to Him Whose honor never vanishes.

سُبحَانَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ ٱنْقِطَاعَ لِمُدَّتِهِ

SUBHAANAL LAZEE LAN QETAA-A’ LE-MUDDATEHI

Glory be to Him Whose duration (of existence) is never interrupted.

سُبْحَانَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ إِلٰهَ غَيْرُهُ

SUBHAANAL LAZEE LAA ELAAHA GHAYROHU

Glory be to Him save Whom there is no god.

At the legs’ side, repeat the glorification of Lady Fatimah (a.s.) 1,000 times:

سُبْحَانَ ذِي ٱلْجَلاَلِ ٱلْبَاذِخِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

SUBHAANA ZIL JALAALIL BAAZEKHIL A’ZEEME

Glory be to the Lord of lofty, great majesty

سُبْحَانَ ذِي ٱلْعِزِّ ٱلشَّامِخِ ٱلْمُنِيفِ

SUBHAANA ZIL I’ZZISH SHAAMEKHIL MONEEFE

Glory be to the Lord of towering, lofty might

سُبْحَانَ ذِي ٱلْمُلْكِ ٱلْفَاخِرِ ٱلْقَدِيمِ

SUBHAANA ZIL MULKIL FAAKHERIL QADEEME

Glory be to the Lord of eternal, splendid sovereign

سُبْحَانَ ذِي ٱلْبَهْجَةِ وَٱلْجَمَالِ

SUBHAANA ZIL BAHJATE WAL JAMAALE

Glory be to the Lord of splendor and beauty

سُبْحَانَ مَنْ تَرَدَّىٰ بِٱلنُّورِ وَٱلْوَقَارِ

SUBHAANA MAN TARADDAA BIN-NOORE WAL WAQAARE

Glory be to Him Who is clad in light and dignity

سُبحَانَ مَنْ يَرَىٰ اثَرَ ٱلَّنمْلِ فِي ٱلصَّفَا

SUBHAANA MAN-Y YARAA ASARAN NAMLE FIS SAFAA

Glory be to Him Who sees the footprints of the ant on the smooth rock

وَوَقْعَ ٱلطَّيْرِ فِي ٱلْهَوَاءِ

WA WAQ-A’T TAYRE FIL HAWAAA-E

and the alighting of the bird in the air.

Then pray 2 units, reciting [Surah Ya-Sin](A40) and [Surah al-Rahman](A59).

Salawat on Imam Husayn (a.s.)

Stand behind the tomb at the side of the two shoulders and invoke blessings upon the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and Imam al-Husayn (a.s.):

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADINW WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ ٱلْمَظْلُومِ ٱلشَّهِيدِ

WA SALLE A’LAL HOSAYNIL MAZLOOMISH SHAHEEDE

and send blessings upon al-Husayn, the wronged, the martyred,

قَتِيلِ ٱلْعَبَرَاتِ وَاسِيرِ ٱلْكُرُبَاتِ

QATEELIL A’BARAATE WA ASEERIL KOROBAATE

the victim of shed tears, and the captive of agonies

صَلاَةً نَامِيَةً زَاكِيَةً مُبَارَكَةً

SALAATAN NAAMEYATAN ZAAKEYATAM MOBAARAKATAN

with ever-increasing, pure, and sacred blessings

يَصْعَدُ اوَّلُهَا وَلاَ يَنْفَدُ آخِرُهَا

YAS-A’DO AWWALOHAA WA LAA YANFADO AAKHEROHAA

the first of which ascend and the last of which never run out;

افْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ احَدٍ

AFZALA MAA SALLAYTA A’LAA AHADIN

with the best manner that You have ever conferred upon any

مِنْ اوْلاَدِ ٱلانْبِيَاءِ وَٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

MIN AWLAADIL ANBEYAAA-E WAL MURSALEENA

of the descendants of the Prophets and Messengers,

يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالِمينَ

YAA RABBAL A’ALAMEENA

O Lord of the worlds!

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ ٱلإِمَامِ ٱلشَّهِيدِ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAL EMAAMISH SHAHEEDE

O Allah, send blessings upon the Imam, the martyr,

ٱلْمَقْتُولِ ٱلْمَظْلُومِ ٱلْمَخْذُولِ

ALMAQTOOLIL MAZLOOMIL MAKHZOOLE

the slain, the wronged, the forsaken,

وَٱلسَّيِّدِ ٱلْقَائِدِ وَٱلْعَابِدِ ٱلزَّاهِدِ

WAS SAYYEDIL QAAA-EDE WAL A’ABEDIZ ZAAHEDE

the leading master, the worshipper, the abstemious,

وَٱلْوَصِيِّ ٱلْخَلِيفَةِ ٱلإِمَامِ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ

WAL WASIYYIL KHALEEFATIL EMAAMIS SIDDEEQE

the successor, the vicegerent, the leader, the veracious,

ٱلطُّهْرِ ٱلطَّاهِرِ ٱلطَّيِّبِ ٱلْمُبَارَكِ

ATTOHRIT TAAHERIT TAYYEBIL MOBAARAKE

the pure, the immaculate, the superb, the blessed,

وَٱلرَّضِيِّ ٱلْمَرْضِيِّ وَٱلتَّقِيِّ ٱلْهَادِي ٱلْمَهْدِيِّ

WAR RAZIYYIL MARZIYYE WAT TAQIYYIL HAADIL MAHDIYYE

the amiable, the pleased, the pious, the guide, the well-guided,

ٱلزَّاهِدِ ٱلذَّائِدِ ٱلْمُجَاهِدِ ٱلْعَالِمِ

AZZAAHEDIZ ZAAA-EDIL MOJAAHEDIL A’ALEME

the abstemious, the defender (of Islam), the striver, the knowledgeable,

إِمَامِ ٱلْهُدَىٰ سِبْطِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَقُرَّةِ عَيْنِ ٱلْبَتُولِ

EMAAMIL HODAA SIBTIR RASOOLE WA QURRATE A’YNIL BATOOLE

the leader of true guidance, the grandson of the Messenger, and the delight of the eye of the Chaste Lady.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِي وَمَوْلاَيَ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA SAYYEDEE WA MAWLAAYA

O Allah, send blessings upon my master and chief

كَمَا عَمِلَ بِطَاعَتِكَ

KAMAA A’MELA BE-TAA-A’TEKA

for he acted obediently to You,

وَنَهَىٰ عَنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ

WA NAHAA A’M MA’SEYATEKA

warned against disobeying You,

وَبَالَغَ فِي رِضْوَانِكَ

WA BAALAGHA FEE RIZWAANEKA

made all efforts to attain Your pleasure,

وَاقْبَلَ عَلَىٰ إِيمَانِكَ

WA AQBALA A’LAA EEMAANEKA

warmly received belief in You,

غَيْرَ قَابِل فِيكَ عُذْراً

GHAYRA QAABELIN FEEKA U’ZRAN

rejected all excuses against You,

سِرّاً وَعَلاَنِيَةً يَدْعُو ٱلْعِبَادِ إِلَيْكَ

SIRRANW WA A’LAANEYATAN-Y YAD-U’L E’BAADE ELAYKA

called the servants to You secretly and openly,

وَيَدُلُّهُمْ عَلَيْكَ

WA YADULLOHUM A’LAYKA

showed them the way to You,

وَقَامَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

WA QAAMA BAYNA YADAYKA

undertook in obedience to You the mission

يَهْدِمُ ٱلْجَوْرَ بِٱلصَّوَابِ

YAHDEMUL JAWRA BIS-SAWAABE

of demolishing inequity with rectitude

وَيُحْيِي ٱلسُّنَّةَ بِٱلْكِتَابِ

WA YOHYIS SUNNATA BIL-KETAABE

and refreshing the traditions in the (light of the) Book.

فَعَاشَ فِي رِضْوَانِكَ مَكْدُوداً

FA-A’ASHA FEE RIZWAANEKA MAKDOODAN

So, he lived in fatigue for the sake of Your pleasure

وَمَضَىٰ عَلَىٰ طَاعَتِكَ وَفِي اوْلِيَائِكَ مَكْدُوحاً

WA MAZAA A’LAA TAA-A’TEKA WA FEE AWLEYAAA-EKA MAKDOOHAN

and passed away in obedience to You, working hard for the sake of Your Intimate Servants.

وَقَضَىٰ إِلَيْكَ مَفْقُوداً

WA QAZAA ELAYKA MAFQOODAN

He thus joined You missed (by the believers).

لَمْ يَعْصِكَ فِي لَيْلٍ وَلاَ نَهَارٍ

LAM YA’SEKA FEE LAYLINW WA LAA NAHAARIN

He never disobeyed You; neither at night nor in day;

بَلْ جَاهَدَ فِيكَ ٱلْمُنَافِقِينَ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ

BAL JAAHADA FEEKAL MONAAFEQEENA WAL KUFFAARA

rather, he, for Your sake, strove against the hypocrites and the unbelievers.

اَللَّهُمَّ فَٱجْزِهِ خَيْرَ جَزَاءِ ٱلصَّادِقِينَ ٱلابْرَارِ

ALLAAHUMMA FAJZEHI KHAYRA JAZAAA-IS SAADEQEENAL ABRAARE

So, O Allah, (please) award him with the best reward of the veracious and the righteous

وَضَاعِفْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ وَلِقَاتِلِيهِ ٱلْعِقَابَ

WA ZAA-I’F A’LAYHEMUL A’ZAABA WA LE-QAATELEEHIL E’QAABA

and multiply the chastisement and the punishment for those who slew him.

فَقَدْ قَاتَلَ كَرِيماً وَقُتِلَ مَظْلُوماً وَمَضَىٰ مَرْحُوماً

FAQAD QAATALA KAREEMANW WA QOTELA MAZLOOMANW WA MAZAA MARHOOMAN

Verily, he fought with nobility, was slain wrongly, and passed away enjoying mercy.

يَقُولُ انَا ٱبْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدٍ

YAQOOLO ANABNO RASOOLIL LAAHE MOHAMMADIN

He said to them, “I am the son of Allah’s Messenger Muhammad

وَٱبْنُ مَنْ زَكَّىٰ وَعَبَدَ

WABNO MAN ZAKKAA WA A’BADA

and the son of him who gave alms and served Allah.

فَقَتَلُوهُ بِٱلْعَمْدِ ٱلْمُعْتَمَدِ

FAQATALOOHO BIL-A’MDIL MO’TAMADE

Yet, they slew him clearly intentionally.

قَتَلُوهُ عَلَىٰ ٱلإِيمَانِ

QATALOOHO A’LAL EEMAANE

They slew him because of his faith;

وَاطَاعُوٱ فِي قَتْلِهِ ٱلشَّيْطَانَ

WA ATAA-O’ FEE QATLEHISH SHAYTAANA

therefore, they obeyed Satan

وَلَمْ يُرَاقِبُوٱ فِيهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنَ

WA LAM YORAAQEBO FEEHIR RAHMAANA

and never cared for the All-beneficent Lord.

اَللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِي وَمَوْلاَيَ

ALLAAHUMMA FASALLE A’LAA SAYYEDEE WA MAWLAAYA

So, O Allah, (please) send upon my master and chief

صَلاَةً تَرْفَعُ بِهَا ذِكْرَه

SALAATAN TARFA-O’ BEHAA ZIKRAHU

such blessings by which You raise his eminence,

وَتُظْهِرُ بِهَا امْرَهُ

WA TUZHERO BEHAA AMRAHU

make prevalent his issue,

وَتُعَجِّلُ بِهَا نَصْرَهُ

WA TO-A’JJELO BEHAA NASRAHU

and hasten his victory.

وَٱخْصُصْهُ بِافْضَلِ قِسَمِ ٱلْفَضَائِلِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَامَةِ

WAKH SUS-HO BE-AFZALE QESAMIL FAZAAA-ELE YAWMAL QEYAAMATE

And (please) endue him on the Resurrection day with the best of Your favors,

وَزِدْهُ شَرَفاً فِي اعَلىٰ عِلِّيِّينَ

WA ZID-HO SHARAFAN FEE A-A’LAA I’LLIYYEENA

increase his honor to the highest degree of the Supreme Rank,

وَبَلِّغْهُ اعَلَىٰ شَرَفِ ٱلْمُكَرَّمِينَ

WA BALLIGH-HO A-A’LAA SHARAFIL MOKARRAMEENA

take him higher to the highest rank of the honored ones,

وَٱرْفَعْهُ مِنْ شَرَفِ رَحْمَتِكَ

WAR FA’HO MIN SHARAFE RAHMATEKA

raise him in the honor of Your mercy

فِي شَرَفِ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ

FEE SHARAFIL MOQARRABEENA

to the honor of the most favorable ones

فِي ٱلرَّفيعِ ٱلاعَلىٰ

FIR RAFEE-I’L A-A’LAA

in the Highest Level,

وَبَلِّغْهُ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ وَٱلْمَنْزِلَةَ ٱلْجَلِيلَةَ

WA BALLIGH-HUL WASEELATA WAL MANZELATAL JALEELATA

grant him the right of mediation, the loftiest position,

وَٱلْفَضْلَ وَٱلْفَضِيلَةَ

WAL FAZLA WAL FAZEELATA

the superiority, the excellence,

وَٱلْكِرَامَةَ ٱلْجَزِيلَةَ

WAL KERAAMATAL JAZEELATA

and the abundant privilege.

اَللَّهُمَّ فَٱجْزِهِ عَنَّا افْضَلَ مَا جَازَيْتَ إِمَاماً عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ

ALLAAHUMMA FAJZEHI A’NNAA AFZALA MAA JAAZAYTA EMAAMAN A’R RA-I’YYATEHI

O Allah, (please) award him on behalf of us with the most excellent reward that You have ever given to a leader on behalf of his subjects

وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِي وَمَوْلاَيَ كُلَّمَا ذُكِرَ

WA SALLE A’LAA SAYYEDEE WA MAWLAAYA KULLAMAA ZOKERA

and bless my master and chief whenever he is mentioned

وَكُلَّمَا لَمْ يُذْكَرْ

WA KULLAMAA LAM YUZKAR

and whenever he is not.

يَا سَيِّدِي وَمَوْلاَيَ

YAA SAYYEDEE WA MAWLAAYA

O my master and chief,

ادْخِلْنِي فِي حِزْبِكَ وَزُمْرَتِكَ

ADKHILNEE FEE HIZBEKA WA ZUMRATEKA

include me with your party and group

وَٱسْتَوْهِبْنِي مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَرَبِّي

WAS TAWHIBNEE MIR RABBEKA WA RABBEE

and ask my and your Lord to release me as grant from Him to you,

فَإِنَّ لَكَ عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ جَاهاً وَقَدْراً

FA-INNA LAKA I’NDAL LAAHE JAAHANW WA QADRAN

for you verily enjoy a special esteem and value with Allah

وَمَنْزِلَةً رَفيعَةً

WA MANZELATAR RAFEE-A’TAN

as well as a lofty standing:

إِنْ سَالْتَ اعْطِيتَ

IN SA-ALTA O’TEETA

if you ask, He gives you

وَإِنْ شَفَعْتَ شُفِّعْتَ

WA IN SHAFA’TA SHUFFE’TA

and if you intercede, He admits your intercession.

اللَّهَ اللَّهَ فِي عَبْدِكَ وَمَوْلاَكَ

ALLAAHAL LAAHA FEE A’BDEKA WA MAWLAAKA

By Allah I ask you to regard me, your slave and servant.

لاََ تُخَلِّنِي عِنْدَ ٱلشَّدَائِدِ وَٱلاهْوَالِ

LAA TOKHALLENEE I’NDASH SHADAAA-EDE WAL AHWAALE

Do not desert me at the time of ordeals and horrors

لِسُوءِ عَمَلِي وَقَبِيحِ فِعْلِي وَعَظِيمِ جُرْمِي

LE-SOO-E A’MALEE WA QABEEHE FE’LEE WA A’ZEEME JURMEE

because of my evildoing, misconduct, and enormous offenses.

فَإِنَّكَ امَلِي وَرَجَائِي

FA-INNAKA AMALEE WA RAJAAA-EE

You are verily my hope and my wish,

وَثِقَتِي وَمُعْتَمَدِي

WA SEQATEE WA MO’TAMADEE

I have confidence in you, I rely upon you,

وَوَسِيلَتِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكَ

WA WASEELATEE ELAL LAAHE RABBEE WA RABBEKA

and you are my means to Allah, my and your Lord.

لَمْ يَتَوَسَّلِ ٱلْمُتَوَسِّلُونَ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ

LAM YATAWASSALIL MOTAWASSELOONA ELAL LAAHE

No means that has been made to Allah

بِوَسِيلَة هِيَ اعْظَمُ حَقّاً

BE-WASEELATIN HEYA A-A’ZAMO HAQQAN

is greater in status,

وَلاَ اوْجَبُ حُرْمَةً

WA LAA AWJABO HURMATAN

more incumbent in sanctity,

وَلاَ اجَّلُ قَدْراً

WA LAA AJALLO QADRAN

or loftier in eminence

عِنْدَهُ مِنْكُمْ اهْلَ ٱلْبَيْتِ

I’NDAHU MINKUM AHLAL BAYTE

than yours, the Ahl al-Bayt, in the sight of Allah.

لاََ خَلَّفَنِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْكُمْ بِذُنُوبِي

LAA KHALLAFANEYAL LAAHO A’NKUM BE-ZONOOBEE

May Allah never cause me to lag behind you because of my sins

وَجَمَعَنِي وَإِيَّاكُمْ فِي جَنَّةِ عَدْنٍ

WA JAMA-A’NEE WA IYYAAKUM FEE JANNATE A’DNIN

and may He join me with you in the perpetual abode of Paradise

ٱلَّتِي اعَدَّهَا لَكُمْ وَلاِوْلِيَائِكُمْ

ALLATEE A-A’DDAHAA LAKUM WA LE-AWLEYAAA-EKUM

that He has prepared for you and your loyalists.

إِنَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْغَافِرِينَ وَارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

INNAHU KHAYRUL GHAAFEREENA WA ARHAMUR RAAHEMEENA

Verily, He is the best of all those who may forgive and the most merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللَّهُمَّ ابْلِغْ سَيِّدِي وَمَوْلاَيَ

ALLAAHUMMA ABLIGH SAYYEDEE WA MAWLAAYA

O Allah, (please) convey to my master and chief

تَحِيَّةً كَثِيرَةً وَسَلاَماً

TAHIYYATAN KASEERATANW WA SALAAMAN

abundant greetings and salutations

وَٱرْدُدْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلسَّلاَمَ

WAR DUD A’LAYNAA MINHUS SALAAMA

and convey to us his response to our greetings.

إِنَّكَ جَوَادٌ كَرِيمٌ

INNAKA JAWAADUN KAREEMUN

You are verily All-magnanimous and All-generous.

وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ كُلَّمَا ذُكِرَ ٱلسَّلاَمُ

WA SALLE A’LAYHE KULLAMAA ZOKERAS SALAAMO

And bless him whenever blessing is mentioned

وَكُلَّمَا لَمْ يُذْكَرْ يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

WA KULLAMAA LAM YUZKAR YAA RABBAL A’ALAMEENA

and whenever it is not mentioned, O Lord of the worlds!

Dua Allahumma Qad Tara Makani

Pray earnestly to Almighty Allah at the shrine: turn to Him, repent before Him and present your needs. The supplications of al-Sahifah al-Sajjadiyyah are the most preferable.

Raise your hands towards the sky and recite:

اَللَّهُمَّ قَدْ تَرَىٰ مَكَانِي

ALLAAHUMMA QAD TARAA MAKAANEE

O Allah, You do see my place,

وَتَسْمَعُ كَلاَمِي

WA TASMA-O’ KALAAMEE

hear my words,

وَتَرَىٰ مَقَامِي وَتَضَرُّعِي

WA TARAA MAQAAMEE WA TAZARRO-E’E

and see my situation, imploration,

وَمَلاَذِي بِقَبْرِ حُجَّتِكَ وَٱبْنِ نَبِيِّكَ

WA MALAAZEE BE-QABRE HUJJATEKA WABNE NABIYYEKA

and seeking shelter with the tomb of Your Argument and Your Prophet’s son.

وَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ يَا سَيِّدِي حَوَائِجِي

WA QAD A’LIMTA YAA SAYYEDEE HAWAAA-EJEE

You, O my Master, have already known my needs

وَلاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْكَ حَالِي

WA LAA YAKHFAA A’LAYKA HAALEE

and none of my manners can be hidden from You.

وَقَدْ تَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِٱبْنِ رَسُولِكَ

WA QAD TAWAJJAHTO ELAYKA BIBNE RASOOLEKA

I am now turning my face towards You in the name of Your Prophet’s son,

وَحُجَّتِكَ وَامِينِكَ

WA HUJJATEKA WA AMEENEKA

Your Argument, and Your trustee.

وَقَدْ اتَيْتُكَ مُتَقَرِّباً بِهِ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلىٰ رَسُولِكَ

WA QAD ATAYTOKA MOTAQARREBAN BEHI ELAYKA WA ELAA RASOOLEKA

I have come to You seeking nearness to You in his name and in the name of Your Messenger.

فَٱجْعَلْنِي بِهِ عِنْدَكَ وَجِيهاً

FAJ-A’LNEE BEHI I’NDAKA WAJEEHAN

So, (please), in his name, make me worthy of regard with You

فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ

FID DUNYAA WAL AAKHERATE WA MENAL MOQARRABEENA

in this world and in the Hereafter and (make me) of those drawn near to You.

وَاعْطِنِي بِزِيَارَتِي امَلِي

WA A-A’TENEE BE-ZEYAARATEE AMALEE

And grant me, due to this visit of mine, what I hope,

وَهَبْ لِي مُنَايَ

WA HAB LEE MONAAYA

endue me with my wish,

وَتَفَضَّلْ عَلَيَّ بِشَهْوَتِي وَرَغْبَتِي

WA TAFAZZAL A’LAYYA BE-SHAHWATEE WA RAGHBATEE

favor me with my desire and aspiration,

وَٱقْضِ لِي حَوَائِجِي

WAQ ZE LEE HAWAAA-EJEE

settle for me my needs,

وَلاَ تَرُدَّنِي خَائِباً

WA LAA TARUDDANEE KHAAA-EBAN

do not reject me with disappointment,

وَلاَ تَقْطَعْ رَجَائِي

WA LAA TAQTA’ RAJAAA-EE

do not cut off my hope (in You),

وَلاَ تُخَيِّبْ دُعَائِي

WA LAA TOKHAYYIB DO-A’A-EE

do not let down my prayer,

وَعَرِّفْنِي ٱلإِجَابَةِ فِي جَمِيعِ مَا دَعَوْتُكَ

WA A’RRIFNIL EJAABATE FEE JAMEE-E’ MAA DA-A’WTOKA

show me proofs of Your response to all that which I prayed You for,

مِنْ امْرِ ٱلدِّينِ وَٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ

MIN AMRID DEENE WAD DUNYAA WAL AAKHERATE

including the affairs of my religion, worldly life, and the Hereafter,

وَٱجْعَلْنِي مِنْ عِبَادِكَ

WAJ A’LNEE MIN E’BAADEKA

include me with Your servants

ٱلَّذِينَ صَرَفْتَ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْبَلاَيَا وَٱلامْرَاضَ

ALLAZEENA SARAFTA A’NHOMUL BALAAYAA WAL AMRAAZA

from whom You have warded off misfortunes, diseases,

وَٱلْفِتَنَ وَٱلاعْرَاضَ

WAL FETANA WAL A-A’RAAZA

seditious matters, and calamities;

مِنَ ٱلذِّينَ تُحْيِيهِمْ فِي عَافِيَةٍٍ

MENAL LAZEENA TOHYEEHIM FEE A’AFEYATIN

those whom You make live in wellbeing,

وَتُميتُهُمْ فِي عَافِيَةٍ

WA TOMEETOHUM FEE A’AFEYATIN

cause to die in wellbeing,

وَتُدْخِلُهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ فِي عَافِيَةٍ

WA TUDKHELOHOMUL JANNATA FEE A’AFEYATIN

allow to enter Paradise in wellbeing,

وَتُجِيرُهُمْ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ فِي عَافِيَةٍ

WA TOJEEROHUM MENAN NAARE FEE A’AFEYATIN

and save from Hellfire in wellbeing;

وَوَفِّقْ لِي بِمَنٍّ مِنْكَ

WA WAFFIQ LEE BEMANNIM MINKA

and, out of Your favor, lead me

صَلاَحَ مَا اؤَمِلَّ فِي نَفْسِي

SALAAHA MAA O-AMMELO FEE NAFSEE

to the achievement of what I hope for regarding myself,

وَاهْلِي وَوُلْدِي وَإِخْوَانِي وَمَالِي

WA AHLEE WA WULDEE WA IKHWAANEE WA MAALEE

my wife, my sons, my brethren-in-faith, my properties,

وَجَمِيعِ مَا انْعَمْتَ بِهِ عَلَيَّ

WA JAMEE-E’ MAA AN-A’MTA BEHI A’LAYYA

and whatever bliss You have endowed me;

يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمينَ

YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEENA

O most merciful of all those who show mercy!

Dua of the Oppressed

If you have been wronged by an oppressor, pray with this supplication in the holy shrine of Imam al-Husayn (a.s.):

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اعْتَزُّ بِدِينِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE A-A’TAZZO BE-DEENEKA

O Allah, I obtain my dignity from following Your religion

وَاكْرُمُ بِهِدَايَتِكَ

WA AKROMO BE-HEDAAYATEKA

and I am honored because of You have guided me,

وَ… يُذِلُّنِي بِشَرِّهِ

WA YOZILLONEE BE-SHARREHI

but [so-and-so] is humiliating me by his evil,

وَيُهِينُنِي بِاذِيَّتِهِ

WA YOHEENONEE BE-AZIYYATEHI

insulting me by harming me,

وَيُعِيبُنِي بِوَلاَءِ اوْلِيَائِكَ

WA YO-E’EBONEE BE-WALAAA-E AWLEYAAA-EKA

imputing dishonor to me because I am loyal to Your Representatives,

وَيَبْهَتُنِي بِدَعْوَاهُ

WA YABHATONEE BE-DA’WAAHO

and charging me with false claims.

وَقَدْ جِئْتُ إِلَىٰ مَوْضِعِ ٱلدُّعَاءِ

WA QAD JEATO ELAA MAWZE-I’D DO-A’A-E

I have come to the center of supplication

وَضَمَانِكَ ٱلإِجَابَةَ

WA ZAMAANEKAL EJAABATA

and the guarantee of response.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADINW WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household

وَاعِدْنِي عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ٱلسَّاعَةَ

WA A-I’DNEE A’LAYHIS SAA-A’TAS SAA-A’TA

and support me against him at this very hour! At this very hour!

Then throw yourself on the grave and say:

مَوْلاَيَ إِمَامِي

MAWLAAYA EMAAMEE

O my master and leader,

مَظْلُومٌ ٱسْتَعْدَىٰ عَلَىٰ ظَالِمِهِ

MAZLOOMONIS TA’DAA A’LAA ZAALEMEHI

(I have been) oppressed and (I am) seeking your support against him who has oppressed me.

ٱلنَّصْرَ ٱلنَّصْرَ

ANNASRAN NASRA

Grant me support! Grant me support!

The last statement may be repeated as many times as one breath may take.

Short Dua at the Head Side

At the side of Imam al-Husayn’s head, for the granting of requests, recite:

يَا ابَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

YAA ABAA A’BDIL LAAHE

O Abu-`Abdullah,

اشْهَدُ انَّكَ تَشْهَدُ مَقَامِي

ASH-HADO ANNAKA TASH-HADO MAQAAMEE

I bear witness that you can now see my situation

وَتَسْمَعُ كَلاَمِي

WA TASMA-O’ KALAAMEE

and hear my words

وَانَّكَ حَيٌّ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ تُرْزَقُ

WA ANNAKA HAYYUN I’NDA RABBEKA TURZAQO

and that you are alive with Your Lord and you are receiving sustenance from Him.

فَٱسْالْ رَبَّكَ وَرَبِّي فِي قَضَاءِ حَوَائِجِي

FAS-AL RABBAKA WA RABBEE FEE QAZAAA-E HAWAAA-EJEE

So (please) ask your and my Lord to grant me my requests.

Longer Dua at the Head Side

Pray 2 units: after [Surah al-Fatihah](A5), recite [Surah al-Anbiya](A25) in the first unit and [Surah al-Hashr](A63) in the second. In the qunoot, recite:

لاإِلهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ الْحَليمُ الْكَريمُ ،

LAA ELAAHA ILLAL LAAHUL HALEEMUL KAREEMO

There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous,

لاإِلهَ إِلاَّاللهُ الْعَلِىُّ الْعَظيمُ ،

LAA ELAAHA ILLAL LAAHUL A’LIYYUL A’ZEEMO

There is no god but Allah, the Most High, the Great,

لاإِلهَ إِلاَّاللهُ رَبُّ السَّماواتِ السَّبْعِ ،

LAA ELAAHA ILLAL LAAHO RABBUS SAMAAWAATIS SAB-E’

There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the seven heavens,

والاَْرَضينَ السَّبْعِ ،

WAL ARAZEENAS SAB-E’

And of the seven earths,

وَما فيهِنَّ ،

WA MAA FEEHINNA

And whatever is in them,

وما بَيْنَهُنَّ ،

WA MAA BAYNAHUNNA

And whatever is between them,

خِلافاً لاَِعْدآئِهِ ،

KHELAAFAL LE-A-A’DAAA-EHI

Opposing His enemies,

وَتَكْذيباً لِمَنْ عَدَلَ بِهِ ،

WA TAKZEEBAL LEMAN A’DALA BEHI

And denying those who equate anything with Him,

وَإِقْراراً لِرُبُوبِيَّتِهِ ،

WA IQRAARAL LE-ROBOOBIYYATEHI

And acknowledging His lordship,

وَخُضُوعاً لِعِزَّتِهِ ،

WA KHOZOO-A’L LE-I’ZZATEHI

And submitting to His might,

الاَْوَّلُ بِغَيْرِ أَوَّل ،

AL-AWWALO BE-GHAYRE AWWALIN

The First without a beginning,

والاْخِرُ إِلى غَيْرِ اخِر ،

WAL AAKHERO ELAA GHAYRE AAKHERIN

And the Last without an end,

الظّاهِرُ عَلى كُلِّ شَىْء بِقُدْرَتِهِ ،

AZZAAHERO A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IM BE-QUDRATEHI

The Manifest above everything by His power,

الْباطِنُ دُونَ كُلِّ شَىْء بِعِلْمِهِ وَلُطْفِهِ ،

ALBAATENO DOONA KULLE SHAY-IM BE-I’LMEHI WA LUTFEHI

The Hidden beyond everything by His knowledge and subtlety,

لا تَقِفُ الْعُقُولُ عَلى كُنْهِ عَظَمَتِهِ ،

LAA TAQEFUL O’QOOLO A’LAA KUNHE A’ZAMATEHI

Minds cannot comprehend the essence of His greatness,

ولاتُدْرِكُ الاَْوْهامُ حَقيقَةَ ماهِيَّتِهِ ،

WA LAA TUDREKUL AWHAAMO HAQEEQATA MAAHIYYATEHI

And imaginations cannot perceive the reality of His nature,

ولاتَتَصَوَّرُ الاَْنْفُسُ مَعانِىَ كَيْفِيَّتِهِ ،

WA LAA TATASAWWARUL ANFOSO MA-A’ANEYA KAYFIYYATEHI

And souls cannot conceive the meanings of His how-ness,

مُطَّلِعاً عَلَى الضَّمآئِرِ ،

MUTTALE-A’N A’LAZ ZAMAAA-ERE

Aware of the consciences,

عارِفاً بِالسَّرآئِرِ ،

A’AREFAM BIS-SARAAA-ERE

Knowing the secrets,

يَعْلَمُ خآئِنَةَ الاَْعْيُنِ ،

YA’LAMO KHAAA-ENATAL A-A’YONE

He knows the betrayal of the eyes,

وَما تُخْفِى الصُّدُورُ ،

WA MAA TUKHFIS SODOORO

And what the breasts conceal,

أَللّٰهُمَّ إِنّي اُشْهِدُك َ عَلى تَصْديقي رَسُولَك َ ،

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE USH-HEDOKA A’LAA TASDEEQEE RASOOLAKA

O Allah, I bear witness to my belief in Your Messenger,

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَالِهِ ،

SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI

Peace be upon him and his family,

وَإيماني بِهِ ،

WA EEMAANEE BEHI

And my faith in him,

After completing the Salat , recite tasbeeh of Hazrat Sayyada s.a. and then go in prostration and recite the following forty times:
