Juz 22

33: Al-Ahzab الأحزاب, verses 31-73

وَمَنْ يَّقْنُتْ مِنْكُنَّ لِلّٰهِ وَرَسُوْلِهٖ وَتَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا نُّؤْتِهَآ اَجْرَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِۙ وَاَعْتَدْنَا لَهَا رِزْقًا كَرِيْمًا‏(31)

WA MAYN YAQNOT MINKUNNA LILLAAHE WA RASOOLEHI WA TA’MAL SAALEHAN NOATEHAA AJRAHAA MARRATAYNE, WA A-ATADNAA LAHAA RIZQAN KAREEMAA.

But whoever of you is obedient to Allah and His Apostle and acts righteously, We shall give her a twofold reward, and We will have in store for her a noble provision.

يٰنِسَآءَ النَّبِىِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَاَحَدٍ مِّنَ النِّسَآءِ اِنِ اتَّقَيْتُنَّ فَلَا تَخْضَعْنَ بِالْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ الَّذِىْ فِىْ قَلْبِهٖ مَرَضٌ وَّقُلْنَ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوْفًا ۚ‏(32)

YAA-NESAAA-AN NABIYYE LASTUNNA KA-AHADIM MENAN NESAAA-E ENIT TAQAYTUNNA FALAA TAKHZA’NA BIL-QAWLE FA-YATMA-A’L LAZEE FEE QALBEHI MARAZUNW WA QULNA QAWLAM MA’ROOFAA.

O wives of the Prophet! You are not like other women: if you are wary [of Allah], do not be complaisant in your speech, lest he in whose heart is a sickness should aspire; speak honourable words.

وَقَرْنَ فِىْ بُيُوْتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الْاُوْلٰى وَاَقِمْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتِيْنَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَاَطِعْنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ ؕ اِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللّٰهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ اَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيْرًا ۚ‏(33)

WA QARNA FEE BOYOOTEKUNNA WA LAA TABARRAJNA TABARROJAL JAAHELIYYATIL OOLAA WA AQIMNAS SALAATA WA AATEENAZ ZAKAATA WA A-TE’NAL LAAHA WA RASOOLAH, INNAMAA YOREEDUL LAAHO LEYUZHEBA A’NKOMUR RIJSA AHLAL BAYTE WA YOTAHHERAKUM TATHEERAA.

Stay in your houses and do not flaunt your finery like the former [days of pagan] ignorance. Maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and obey Allah and His Apostle. Indeed Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O People of the Household, and purify you with a thorough purification.

وَاذْكُرْنَ مَا يُتْلٰى فِىْ بُيُوْتِكُنَّ مِنْ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَالْحِكْمَةِؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ لَطِيْفًا خَبِيْرًا‏(34)

WAZKURNA MAA YUTLAA FEE BOYOOTEKUNNA MIN AAYAATIL LAAHE WAL-HIKMAH, INNAL LAAHA KAANA LATEEFAN KHABEERAA.

And remember what is recited in your homes of the signs of Allah and wisdom. Indeed Allah is all-attentive, all-aware.

اِنَّ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ وَالْمُسْلِمٰتِ وَالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتِ وَالْقٰنِتِيْنَ وَالْقٰنِتٰتِ وَالصّٰدِقِيْنَ وَالصّٰدِقٰتِ وَالصّٰبِرِيْنَ وَالصّٰبِرٰتِ وَالْخٰشِعِيْنَ وَالْخٰشِعٰتِ وَالْمُتَصَدِّقِيْنَ وَ الْمُتَصَدِّقٰتِ وَالصَّآئِمِيْنَ وَالصّٰٓئِمٰتِ وَالْحٰفِظِيْنَ فُرُوْجَهُمْ وَالْحٰفِظٰتِ وَالذّٰكِرِيْنَ اللّٰهَ كَثِيْرًا وَّ الذّٰكِرٰتِ ۙ اَعَدَّ اللّٰهُ لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةً وَّاَجْرًا عَظِيْمًا‏(35)

INNAL MUSLEMEENA WAL-MUSLEMAATE WAL-MOA’MENEENA WAL-MOAMENAATE WAL-QAANETEENA WAL-QAANETAATE WAS-SAADEQEENA WAS-SAADEQAATE WAS-SAABEREENA WAS-SAABERAATE WAL-KHAASHE-E’ENA WAL-KHAASE-A’ATE WAL-MOTASADDEQEENA WAL MOTASADDEQAATE WAS-SAAA-EMEENA WAS-SAAA-EMAATE WAL-HAAFEZEENA FOROOJAHUM WAL-HAAFEZAATE WAZ-ZAAKEREENAL LAAHA KASEERANW WAZ-ZAAKERAATE, A-A’DDAL LAAHO LAHUM MAGHFERATANW WA AJRAN A’ZEEMAA.

Indeed the muslim men and the muslim women, the faithful men and the faithful women, the obedient men and the obedient women, the truthful men and the truthful women, the patient men and the patient women, the humble men and the humble women, the charitable men and the charitable women, the men who fast and the women who fast, the men who guard their private parts and the women who guard, the men who remember Allah greatly and the women who remember [Allah greatly]—Allah holds in store for them forgiveness and a great reward.

وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَّلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ اِذَا قَضَى اللّٰهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗۤ اَمْرًا اَنْ يَّكُوْنَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ اَمْرِهِمْ ؕ وَمَنْ يَّعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلٰلًا مُّبِيْنًا‏(36)

WA MAA KAANA LE-MOAMENINW WA LAA MOAMENATIN EZAA QAZAL LAAHO WA RASOOLOHU AMRAN AY YAKOONA LAHOMUL KHEYARATO MIN AMREHIM, WA MAY YA’ASIL LAAHA WA RASOOLAHU FAQAD ZALLA ZALAALAM MOBEENAA.

A faithful man or woman may not have any option in their matter, when Allah and His Apostle have decided on a matter, and whoever disobeys Allah and His Apostle has certainly strayed into manifest error.

وَاِذْ تَقُوْلُ لِلَّذِىْۤ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ اَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ زَوْجَكَ وَاتَّقِ اللّٰهَ وَتُخْفِىْ فِىْ نَفْسِكَ مَا اللّٰهُ مُبْدِيْهِ وَتَخْشَى النَّاسَ ‌ۚ وَاللّٰهُ اَحَقُّ اَنْ تَخْشٰٮهُ ؕ فَلَمَّا قَضٰى زَيْدٌ مِّنْهَا وَطَرًا زَوَّجْنٰكَهَا لِكَىْ لَا يَكُوْنَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ حَرَجٌ فِىْۤ اَزْوَاجِ اَدْعِيَآئِهِمْ اِذَا قَضَوْا مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرًا ؕ وَكَانَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ مَفْعُوْلًا‏(37)

WA IZ TAQOOLO LIL-LAZEE AN-A’MAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AN-A’MTA A’LAYHE AMSIK A’LAYKA ZAWJAKA WAT-TAQIL LAAHA WA TUKHFEE FEE NAFSEKA MAL LAAHO MUBDEEHE WA TAKH-SHAN NAAS, WAL LAAHO AHAQQO AN TAKHSHAAH, FALAMMAA QAZAA ZAYDUM MINHAA WATARAN ZAWWAJNAAKAHAA LEKAY LAA YAKOONA A’LAL MOAMENEENA HARAJUN FEE AZWAAJE AD-E’YAAA-EHIM EZAA QAZAW MINHUNNA WATARAA, WA KAANA AMRUL LAAHE MAF-O’OLAA.

When you said to him whom Allah had blessed, and whom you [too] had blessed, ‘Retain your wife for yourself, and be wary of Allah,’ and you had hidden in your heart what Allah was to divulge, and you feared the people though Allah is worthier that you should fear Him, so when Zayd had got through with her, We wedded her to you, so that there may be no blame on the faithful in respect of the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have got through with them, and Allah’s command is bound to be fulfilled.

مَا كَانَ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ مِنْ حَرَجٍ فِيْمَا فَرَضَ اللّٰهُ لهٗ ؕ سُنَّةَ اللّٰهِ فِى الَّذِيْنَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ ؕ وَكَانَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ قَدَرًا مَّقْدُوْرَا  ۙ‏(38)

MAA KAANA A’LAN NABIYYE MIN HARAHIN FEEMAA FARAZAL LAAHO LAHU, SUNNATAL LAAHE FIL LAZEENA KHALAW MIN QABL, WA KAANA AMRUL LAAHE QADARAM MAQDOORAA.

There is no blame on the Prophet in respect of that which Allah has made lawful for him: Allah’s precedent with those who passed away earlier (and Allah’s commands are ordained by a precise ordaining),

اۨلَّذِيْنَ يُبَلِّغُوْنَ رِسٰلٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَيَخْشَوْنَهٗ وَلَا يَخْشَوْنَ اَحَدًا اِلَّا اللّٰهَ ؕ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ حَسِيْبًا‏(39)

ALLAZEENA YOBALLEGHOONA RESAALAATIL LAAHE WA YAKHSHAWNAHU WA LAA YAKHSHAWNA AHADAN ILLAL LAAH, WA KAFAA BIL LAAHE HASEEBAA.

such as deliver the messages of Allah and fear Him, and fear no one except Allah, and Allah suffices as reckoner.

مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ اَبَآ اَحَدٍ مِّنْ رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلٰكِنْ رَّسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيّٖنَ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيْمًا‏(40)

MAA KAANA MOHAMMADUN ABAA AHADIM MIR REJAALEKUM WA LAAKIR RASOOLAL LAAHE WA KHAATAMAN NABIYYEEN, WA KAANAL LAAHO BEKULLE SHAY-IN A’LEEMAA.

Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Apostle of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets, and Allah has knowledge of all things.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا اذْكُرُوْا اللّٰهَ ذِكْرًا كَثِيْرًا ۙ‏(41)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANUZ KORUL LAAHA ZIKRAN KASEERAW.

O you who have faith! Remember Allah with frequent remembrance,

وَّ سَبِّحُوْهُ بُكْرَةً وَّاَصِيْلًا‏(42)

WA SABBEHOOHO BUKRATANW WA ASEELAA.

and glorify Him morning and evening.

هُوَ الَّذِىْ يُصَلِّىْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَلٰٓئِكَتُهٗ لِيُخْرِجَكُمْ مِّنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوْرِ ؕ وَكَانَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ رَحِيْمًا‏(43)

HOWAL LAZEE YOSALLEE A’LAYKUM WA MALAAA-EKATOHU LE-YUKHREJAKUM MENAZ ZOLOMAATE ELAN NOOR, WA KAANA BIL-MOAMENEENA RAHEEMAA.

It is He who blesses you—and so do His angels—that He may bring you out from darkness into light, and He is most merciful to the faithful.

تَحِيَّتُهُمْ يَوْمَ يَلْقَوْنَهٗ سَلٰمٌۖۚ وَاَعَدَّ لَهُمْ اَجْرًا كَرِيْمًا‏(44)

TAHIYYATOHUM YAWMA YALQAWNAHU SALAANW, WA A-A’DDA LAHUM AJRAN KAREEMAA.

The day they encounter Him, their greeting will be, ‘Peace,’ and He holds in store for them a noble reward.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ اِنَّاۤ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ شَاهِدًا وَّمُبَشِّرًا وَّنَذِيْرًا ۙ‏(45)

YAA-AYYOHAN NABIYYO INNAA ARSAANAAKA SHAAHEDANW WA MOBASH-SHERANW WA NAZEERANW.

O Prophet! Indeed We have sent you as a witness, as a bearer of good news and as a warner

وَّدَاعِيًا اِلَى اللّٰهِ بِاِذْنِهٖ وَسِرَاجًا مُّنِيْرًا‏(46)

WA DAA-E’YAN ELAL LAAHE BE-IZNEHI WA SERAAJAM MONEERAA.

and as a summoner to Allah by His permission, and as a radiant lamp.

وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ بِاَنَّ لَهُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ فَضْلًا كَبِيْرًا‏(47)

WA BASH-SHERIL MOAMENEENA BE-ANNA LAHUM MENAL LAAHE FAZLAN KABEERAA.

Announce to the faithful the good news that there will be for them a great grace from Allah.

وَلَا تُطِعِ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ وَالْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ وَدَعْ اَذٰٮهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّٰهِ ؕ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَكِيْلًا‏(48)

WA LAA TO-TE-I’L KAAFEREENA WAL MONAAFEQEENA WA DA’ AZAAHUM WA TAWAKKAL A’LAL LAAH, WA KAFAA BILLAAHE WAKEELAA.

Do not obey the faithless and the hypocrites, and disregard their torments, and put your trust in Allah, and Allah suffices as trustee.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اِذَا نَكَحْتُمُ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُمُوْهُنَّ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ تَمَسُّوْهُنَّ فَمَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ عِدَّةٍ تَعْتَدُّوْنَهَا ۚ فَمَتِّعُوْهُنَّ وَسَرِّحُوْهُنَّ سَرَاحًا جَمِيْلًا‏(49)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANOO IZAA NAKAHTOMUL MOAMENAATE SUMMA TALLAQTOMOOHUNNA MIN QABLE AN TAMASSOOHUNNA FAMAA LAKUM A’LAYHINNA MIN I’DDATIN TA’TADDOONAHAA, FA-MATTE-O’OHUNNA WA SARREHOOHUNNA SARAAHAN JAMEELAA.

O you who have faith! When you marry faithful women and then divorce them before you touch them, there shall be no period for you to reckon. But provide for them and release them in a graceful manner.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ اِنَّاۤ اَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ اَزْوَاجَكَ الّٰتِىْۤ اٰتَيْتَ اُجُوْرَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِيْنُكَ مِمَّاۤ اَفَآءَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكَ وَبَنٰتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنٰتِ عَمّٰتِكَ وَبَنٰتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنٰتِ خٰلٰتِكَ الّٰتِىْ هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ وَامْرَاَةً مُّؤْمِنَةً اِنْ وَّهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِىِّ اِنْ اَرَادَ النَّبِىُّ اَنْ يَّسْتَنْكِحَهَا خَالِصَةً لَّكَ مِنْ دُوْنِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ ؕ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا فَرَضْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِىْۤ اَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُهُمْ لِكَيْلَا يَكُوْنَ عَلَيْكَ حَرَجٌؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا‏(50)

YAA AYYOHAN NABIYYO INNAA AHLALNAA LAKA AZWAAJAKAL LAATEE AATAYTA OJOORAHUNNA WA MAA MALAKAT YAMEENOKA MIMMAA AFAAA-AL LAAHO A’LAYKA WA BANAATE A’MMEKA WA BANAATE A’MMAATEKA WA BANAATE KHAALEKA WA BANAATE KHAALAATEKAL LAATEE HAAJARNA MA-A’KA, WAM-RA-ATAM MOAMENATAN INW WAHABAT NAFSAHAA LINNABIYYE IN ARAADAN NABIYYO AY-YASTANKEHAHAA, KHAALESATAL LAKA MIN DOONIL MOAMENEEN, QAD A’LIMNAA MAA FARAZNAA A’LAYHIM FEE AZWAAJEHIM WA MAA MALAKAT AYMAANOHUM LE-KAYLAA YAKOONA A’LAYKA HARAJ, WA KAANAL LAAHO GHAFOORAR RAHEEMAA.

O Prophet! Indeed We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand owns, of those whom Allah gave you as spoils of war, and the daughters of your paternal uncle, and the daughters of your paternal aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncle, and the daughters of your maternal aunts who migrated with you, and a faithful woman if she offers herself to the Prophet and the Prophet desires to take her in marriage (a privilege exclusively for you, not for [the rest of] the faithful; We know what We have made lawful for them with respect to their wives and those whom their right hands own, so that there may be no blame on you ), and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

تُرْجِىْ مَنْ تَشَآءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُئْوِىْۤ اِلَيْكَ مَنْ تَشَآءُ ؕ وَمَنِ ابْتَغَيْتَ مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكَ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ اَدْنٰٓى اَنْ تَقَرَّ اَعْيُنُهُنَّ وَلَا يَحْزَنَّ وَيَرْضَيْنَ بِمَاۤ اٰتَيْتَهُنَّ كُلُّهُنَّ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِىْ قُلُوْبِكُمْ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلِيْمًا حَلِيْمًا‏(51)

TURJEE MAN TASHAAA-O MINHUNNA WA TOA-WEE ELAYKA MAN TASHAAA, WA MANIB TAGHAYTA MIMMAN A’ZALTA FALAA JONAAHA A’LAYK, ZAALEKA ADNAA AN TAQARRA A-A’YONOHUNNA WA LAA YAHZANNA WA YARZAYNA BEMAA AATAYTAHUNNA KULLOHUN, WAL LAAHO YA’LAMO MAA FEE QOLOOBEKUM, WA KAANAL LAAHO A’LEEMAN HALEEMAA.

You may put off whichever of them you wish and consort with whichever of them you wish, and there is no sin upon you [in receiving again] any [of them] whom you may seek [to consort with] from among those you have set aside [earlier]. That makes it likelier that they will be comforted and not feel unhappy, and all of them will be pleased with what you give them. Allah knows what is in your hearts, and Allah is all-knowing, all-forbearing.

لَا يَحِلُّ لَكَ النِّسَآءُ مِنْۢ بَعْدُ وَلَاۤ اَنْ تَبَدَّلَ بِهِنَّ مِنْ اَزْوَاجٍ وَّلَوْ اَعْجَبَكَ حُسْنُهُنَّ اِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِيْنُكَ‌ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ رَّقِيْبًا‏(52)

LAA YAHILLO LAKAN NESAAA-O MIM BA’DO WA LAA AN TABADDALA BEHINNA MIN AZWAAJINW WA LAW A-A’JABAKA HUSNOHUNNA ILLAA MAA MALAKAT YAMEENOK, WA KAANAL LAAHO A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IR RAQEEBAA.

Beyond that, women are not lawful for you, nor that you should change them for other wives even though their beauty should impress you, except those whom your right hand owns. Allah is watchful over all things.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تَدْخُلُوْا بُيُوْتَ النَّبِىِّ اِلَّاۤ اَنْ يُّؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ اِلٰى طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نٰظِرِيْنَ اِنٰٮهُ وَلٰكِنْ اِذَا دُعِيْتُمْ فَادْخُلُوْا فَاِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَانْتَشِرُوْا وَلَا مُسْتَاْنِسِيْنَ لِحَدِيْثٍ ؕ اِنَّ ذٰلِكُمْ كَانَ يُؤْذِى النَّبِىَّ فَيَسْتَحْىٖ مِنْكُمْ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَسْتَحْىٖ مِنَ الْحَقِّ ؕ وَاِذَا سَاَ لْتُمُوْهُنَّ مَتَاعًا فَسْئَلُوْهُنَّ مِنْ وَّرَآءِ حِجَابٍ ؕ ذٰ لِكُمْ اَطْهَرُ لِقُلُوْبِكُمْ وَقُلُوْبِهِنَّ ؕ وَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ اَنْ تُؤْذُوْا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ وَلَاۤ اَنْ تَنْكِحُوْۤا اَزْوَاجَهٗ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهٖۤ اَبَدًا ؕ اِنَّ ذٰ لِكُمْ كَانَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ عَظِيْمًا‏(53)

YAA AYYOHAL LAAZEENA AAMANOO LAA TADKHOLOO BOYOOTAN NABIYYE ILLAA AY YOAZANA LAKUM ELAA TA-A’AMIN GHAYRA NAAZEREENA ENAAH, WA LAAKIN EZAA DO-E’ETUN FADKHOLOO FA-EZAA LA-I’MTUM FANTASHEROO WA LAA MUSTAANESEENA LEHADEES, INNA ZAALEKUM KAANA YOAZIN NABIYYA FAYASTAHYEE MINKUM, WAL LAAHO LAA YASTAHYEE MENAL HAQ, WA EZAA SA-ALTOMOOHUNNA MATAA-A’N FAS-ALOOHUNNA MINW WARAAA-E HEJAAB, ZAALEKUM ATHARO LEQOLOOBEKUM WA QOLOOBEHIN, WA MAA KAANA LAKUM AN TOAZOO RASOOLAL LAAHE WA LAA AN TANKEHOO AZWAAJAHU MIM BA’DEHI ABADAA, INNA ZAALEKUM KAANA I’NDAL LAAHE A’ZEEMAA.

O you who have faith! Do not enter the Prophet’s houses for a meal until you are granted permission, without hanging around for it to be readied. But enter when you are invited, and disperse when you have taken your meal, without cozying up for chats. Such conduct on your part offends the Prophet, and he is ashamed of [asking] you [to leave]; but Allah is not ashamed of [expressing] the truth. When you ask [his] womenfolk for something, do so from behind a curtain. That is more chaste for your hearts and theirs. You should not offend the Apostle of Allah, nor may you ever marry his wives after him. Indeed that would be a grave [sin] with Allah.

اِنْ تُبْدُوْا شَيْئًا اَوْ تُخْفُوْهُ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيْمًا‏(54)

IN TUBDOO SHAYAN AW TUKHFOOHO FA-INNAL LAAHA KAANA BEKULLE SHAYIN A’LEEMAA.

Whether you disclose anything or hide it, Allah indeed knows all things.

لَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فِىْۤ اٰبَآئِهِنَّ وَلَاۤ اَبْنَآئِهِنَّ وَلَاۤ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ وَلَاۤ اَبْنَآءِ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ وَلَاۤ اَبْنَآءِ اَخَوٰتِهِنَّ وَلَا نِسَآئِهِنَّ وَلَا مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُهُنَّ ۚ وَاتَّقِيْنَ اللّٰهَ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيْدًا‏(55)

LAA JONAAHA A’LAYHINNA FEE AABAAA-EHINNA WA LAA ABNAAA-EHINNA WA LAA IKHWAANEHINNA WA LAA ABNAAA-E IKHWAANEHINNA WA LAA ABNAAA-E AKHAWAATEHINNA WA LAA NESAAA-EHINNA WA LAA MAA MALAKAT AYMAANOHUN, WAT-TAQEENAL LAAH, INNAL LAAHA KAANA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN SHAHEEDAA.

There is no sin on them [in socializing freely] with their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or the sons of their sisters, or their own womenfolk, or what their right hands own. Be wary of Allah. Indeed Allah is witness to all things.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ وَمَلٰٓئِكَتَهٗ يُصَلُّوْنَ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ ؕ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا صَلُّوْا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوْا تَسْلِيْمًا‏(56)

INNAL LAAHA WA MALAAA-EKATAHU YOSALLOONA A’LAN NABIYY, YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANOO SALLOO A’LAYHE WA SALLEMOO TASLEEMAA.

Indeed Allah and His angels bless the Prophet; O you who have faith! Invoke blessings on him and invoke Peace upon him in a worthy manner.

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يُؤْذُوْنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ لَعَنَهُمُ اللّٰهُ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِ وَاَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا مُّهِيْنًا‏(57)

INNAL LAZEENA YOAZOONAL LAAHA WA RASOOLAHU LA-A’NAHOMUL LAAHO FID DUNYAA WAL AAKHERATE WA-A-A’DDA LAHUM A’ZAABAM MOHEENAA.

Indeed those who offend Allah and His Apostle are cursed by Allah in the world and the Hereafter, and He has prepared a humiliating punishment for them.

وَالَّذِيْنَ يُؤْذُوْنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتِ بِغَيْرِ مَا اكْتَسَبُوْا فَقَدِ احْتَمَلُوْا بُهْتَانًا وَّاِثْمًا مُّبِيْنًا‏(58)

WAL LAZEENA YOAZOONAL MOA’MENEENA WAL MOAMENAATE BEGHAYRE MAKTASABOO FAQADEH TAMALOO BOHTAANANW WA ISMAM MOBEENAA.

Those who offend faithful men and women undeservedly, certainly bear the guilt of slander and flagrant sin.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ قُلْ لِّاَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنٰتِكَ وَنِسَآءِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ يُدْنِيْنَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ جَلَابِيْبِهِنَّ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ اَدْنٰٓى اَنْ يُّعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ ؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا‏(59)

YAA AYYOHAN NABIYYO QUL LE-AZWAAJEKA WA BANAATEKA WA NESAAA-IL MOAMENEENA YUDNEENA A’LAYHINNA MIN JALAABEEBEHIN, ZAALEKA ADNAA AY YOA’RAFNA FALAA YOAZAYN, WA KAANAL LAAHO GHAFOORAR RAHEEMAA.

O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the faithful to draw closely over themselves their chadors [when going out]. That makes it likely for them to be recognized and not be troubled, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

لَئِنْ لَّمْ يَنْتَهِ الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ وَ الَّذِيْنَ فِى قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّرَضٌ وَّالْمُرْجِفُوْنَ فِى الْمَدِيْنَةِ لَنُغْرِيَنَّكَ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ لَا يُجَاوِرُوْنَكَ فِيْهَاۤ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا ۛۚ ۖ‏(60)

LAIL LAM YANTAHIL MONAAFEQOONA WAL LAZEENA FEE QOLOOBEHIM MARAZUNW WAL MURJEFOONA FIL MADEENATE LANUGHREYANNAKA BEHIM SUMMA LAA YOJAAWEROONAKA FEEHAA ILLAA QALEELAM.

If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a sickness, and the rumourmongers in the city do not desist, We will prompt you [to take action] against them; then they will not be your neighbours in it except briefly.

مَّلْعُوْنِيْنَ ‌ۛۚ اَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوْۤا اُخِذُوْا وَقُتِّلُوْا تَقْتِيْلًا‏(61)

MAL-O’ONEEN, AYNAMAA SOQEFOO OKHEZOO WA QUTTELOO TAQTEELAA.

Accursed, they will be seized wherever they are confronted and slain violently:

سُنَّةَ اللّٰهِ فِى الَّذِيْنَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلُۚ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللّٰهِ تَبْدِيْلًا‏(62)

SUNNATAL LAAHE FIL LAZEENA KHALAW MIN QABL, WA LAN TAJEDA LESUNNATIL LAAHE TABDEELAA.

Allah’s precedent with those who passed away before, and you will never find any change in Allah’s precedent.

يَسْئَلُكَ النَّاسُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِؕ قُلْ اِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِؕ وَمَا يُدْرِيْكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ تَكُوْنُ قَرِيْبًا‏(63)

YAS-ALOKAN NAASO A’NIS SAA-AH, QUL INNAMAA I’LMOHAA I’NDAL LAAH, WA MAA YUDREEKA LA-A’LLAS SAA-A’TA TAKOONO QAREEBAA.

The people question you concerning the Hour. Say, ‘Its knowledge is only with Allah.’ What do you know, maybe the Hour is near.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَعَنَ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ وَاَعَدَّ لَهُمْ سَعِيْرًا ۙ‏(64)

INNAL LAAHA LA-A’NAL KAAFEREENA WA A-A’DDA LAHUM SA-E’ERAA.

Indeed Allah has cursed the faithless and prepared for them a blaze,

خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَاۤ اَبَدًا ۚ لَا يَجِدُوْنَ وَلِيًّا وَّلَا نَصِيْرًا ۚ‏(65)

KHAALEDEENA FEEHAA ABADAA, LAA YAJEDOONA WALIYYANW WA LAA NASEERAA.

in which they will remain forever, and will not find any guardian or helper.

يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوْهُهُمْ فِى النَّارِ يَقُوْلُوْنَ يٰلَيْتَنَاۤ اَطَعْنَا اللّٰهَ وَاَطَعْنَا الرَّسُوْلَا‏(66)

YAWMA TOQALLABO WOJOOHOHUM FIN NAARE YAQOOLOONA YAALAYTANAA A-TA’NAL LAAHA WA A-TA’NAR RASOOLA.

The day when their faces are turned about in the Fire, they will say, ‘We wish we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Apostle!’

وَقَالُوْا رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّاۤ اَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَآءَنَا فَاَضَلُّوْنَا السَّبِيْلَا‏(67)

WA QAALOO RABBANA INNAA A-TA’NAA SAADATANAA WA KOBARAAA-ANAA FA-AZALLOONAS SABEELAA.

They will say, ‘Our Lord! We obeyed our leaders and elders, and they led us astray from the way.’

رَبَّنَاۤ اٰتِهِمْ ضِعْفَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ وَالْعَنْهُمْ لَعْنًا كَبِيْرًا‏(68)

RABBANAA AATEHIM ZE’FAYNE MENAL A’ZAABE WAL-A’NHUM LA’NAN KABEERAA.

Our Lord! Give them a double punishment and curse them with a mighty curse.’

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تَكُوْنُوْا كَالَّذِيْنَ اٰذَوْا مُوْسٰى فَبَرَّاَهُ اللّٰهُ مِمَّا قَالُوْا ؕ وَكَانَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَجِيْهًا ؕ‏(69)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMAANO LAA TAKOONOO KALLAZEENA AAZAW MOOSAA FABARRA-AHUL LAAHO MIMMAA QAALOO, WA KAANA I’NDAL LAAHE WAJEEHAA.

O you who have faith! Do not be like those who offended Moses, whereat Allah cleared him of what they alleged, and he was distinguished in Allah’s sight.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَقُوْلُوْا قَوْلًا سَدِيْدًا ۙ‏(70)

YAA AYYOHAL LAZEENA AAMANUT TAQUL LAAHA WA QOOLOO QAWLAN SADEEDAY.

O you who have faith! Be wary of Allah, and speak upright words.

يُّصْلِحْ لَكُمْ اَعْمَالَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوْبَكُمْؕ وَمَنْ يُّطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيْمًا‏(71)

YUSLEH LAKUM A-A’MAALAKUM WA YAGHFIR LAHUM ZONOOBAKUM, WA MAY YOTE-I’L LAAHA WA RASOOLAHU FAQAD FAAZA FAWZAN A’ZEEMAA.

He will rectify your conduct for you and forgive you your sins. Whoever obeys Allah and His Apostle will certainly achieve a great success.

اِنَّا عَرَضْنَا الْاَمَانَةَ عَلَى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَالْجِبَالِ فَاَبَيْنَ اَنْ يَّحْمِلْنَهَا وَاَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَ حَمَلَهَا الْاِنْسَانُؕ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ ظَلُوْمًا جَهُوْلًا ۙ‏(72)

INNAA A’RAZNAL AMAANATA A’LAS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZE WAL JEBAALE FA-ABYNA AY YAHMILNAHAA WA ASHFAQNA MINHA WA HAMALAHAL INSAAN, INNAHU KAANA ZALOOMAN JAHOOLAL.

Indeed We presented the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they refused to undertake it and were apprehensive of it; but man undertook it. Indeed he is most unjust and ignorant.

لِّيُعَذِّبَ اللّٰهُ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ وَالْمُنٰفِقٰتِ وَالْمُشْرِكِيْنَ وَالْمُشْرِكٰتِ وَيَتُوْبَ اللّٰهُ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتِؕ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِيْمًا‏(73)

LE-YO-A’ZZEBAL LAAHUL MONAAFEQEENA WAL-MONAAFEQAATE WAL-MUSHREKEENA WAL-MUSHREKAATE WA YATOOBAL LAAHO A’LAL MOAMENEENA WAL MOA-MENAAT, WA KAANAL LAAHO GHAFOORAR RAHEEMAA.

Allah will surely punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the polytheists, men and women, and Allah will turn clemently to the faithful, men and women, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

34: Saba سبإ

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىْ لَهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ ؕ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيْمُ الْخَبِيْرُ‏(1)

AL-HAMDO LILLAAHIL LAZEE LAHU MAA FIS SAMAAWAATE WA MAA FIL ARZE WA LAHUL HAMDO FIL AAKHERAH, WA HOWAL HAKEEMUL KHABEER.

All praise belongs to Allah to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. To Him belongs all praise in the Hereafter, and He is the All-wise, the All-aware.

يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِى الْاَرْضِ وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ وَمَا يَعْرُجُ فِيْهَا ؕ وَهُوَ الرَّحِيْمُ الْغَفُوْرُ‏(2)

YA’LAMO MAA YALEJO FIL ARZE WA MAA YAKHROJO MINHAA WA MAA YANZELO MENAS SAMAAA-E WA MAA YA’ROJO FEEHAA, WA HOWAR RAHEEMUL GHAFOOR.

He knows whatever enters into the earth and whatever emerges from it, and whatever descends from the sky and whatever ascends into it, and He is the All-merciful, the All-forgiving.

وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَا تَاْتِيْنَا السَّاعَةُ ؕ قُلْ بَلٰى وَرَبِّىْ لَتَاْتِيَنَّكُمْۙ عٰلِمِ الْغَيْبِ ۚ لَا يَعْزُبُ عَنْهُ مِثْقَالُ ذَرَّةٍ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَلَا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَلَاۤ اَصْغَرُ مِنْ ذٰ لِكَ وَلَاۤ اَكْبَرُ اِلَّا فِىْ كِتٰبٍ مُّبِيْنٍۙ‏(3)

WA QAALAL LAZEENA KAFAROO LAA TAATEENAS SAA-A’H, QUL BALAA WA RABBEE LATAATEYANNAKUM, A’ALEMIL GHAYB, LAA YA’ZOBO A’NHO MISQAALO ZARRATIN FIS SAMAAWAATE WA LAA FIL ARZE WA LAA ASGHARO MIN ZAALEKA WA LAA AKBARO ILLAA FEE KETAABIM MOBEEN.

The faithless say, ‘The Hour will not overtake us.’ Say, ‘Yes, indeed it will surely overtake you, by my Lord,’ the Knower of the Unseen; not [even] an atom’s weight escapes Him in the heavens or in the earth, nor [is there] anything smaller than that nor bigger, but it is in a manifest Book,

لِّيَجْزِىَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوْا الصّٰلِحٰتِؕ اُولٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَّرِزْقٌ كَرِيْمٌ‏(4)

LE-YAJZEYAL LAZEENA AAMANOO WA A’MELUS SAALEHAAT, OOLAAA-EKA LAHUM MAGHFERATUNW WA RIZQUN KAREEM.

that He may reward those who have faith and do righteous deeds.’ For such there will be forgiveness and a noble provision.

وَالَّذِيْنَ سَعَوْ فِىْۤ اٰيٰتِنَا مُعٰجِزِيْنَ اُولٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مِّنْ رِّجْزٍ اَلِيْمٌ‏(5)

WAL LAZEENA SA-A’W FEE AAYAATENAA MO-A’AJEZEENA OOLAAA-EKA LAHUM A’ZAABUM MIR RIJZIN ALEEM.

But those who contend with Our signs seeking to frustrate [their purpose], for such is a painful punishment due to defilement.

وَيَرَى الَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوا الْعِلْمَ الَّذِىْۤ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ هُوَ الْحَقَّ ۙ وَيَهْدِىْۤ اِلٰى صِرَاطِ الْعَزِيْزِ الْحَمِيْدِ‏(6)

WA YARAL LAZEENA OOTUL I’LMAL LAZEE UNZELA ELAYKA MIR RABBEKA HOWAL HAQQA, WA YAHDEE ELAA SERAATIL A’ZEEZIL HAMEED.

Those who have been given knowledge see that what has been sent down to you from your Lord is the truth and [that] it guides to the path of the All-mighty, the All-laudable.

وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا هَلْ نَدُلُّكُمْ عَلٰى رَجُلٍ يُّنَبِّئُكُمْ اِذَا مُزِّقْتُمْ كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍۙ اِنَّكُمْ لَفِىْ خَلْقٍ جَدِيْدٍۚ‏(7)

WA QAALAL LAZEENA KAFAROO HAL NADULLOKUM A’LAA RAJOLIN-Y YONABBE-OKUM EZAA MUZZIQTUM KULLA MOMAZZAQIN, INNAKUM LAFEE KHALQIN JADEED.

The faithless say, ‘Shall we show you a man who will inform you [that] when you have been totally rent to pieces you will indeed have a new creation?

اَ فْتَرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِبًا اَمْ بِهٖ جِنَّةٌ ؕ بَلِ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ فِى الْعَذَابِ وَالضَّلٰلِ الْبَعِيْدِ‏(8)

AFTARAA A’LAL LAAHE KAZEBAN AM BEHI JINNAH, BALIL LAZEENA LAA YOAMENOONA BIL-AAKHERATE FIL A’ZAABE WAZ ZALAALIL BA-E’ED.

Has he fabricated a lie against Allah, or is there a madness in him?’ Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter languish in punishment and extreme error.

اَفَلَمْ يَرَوْا اِلٰى مَا بَيْنَ اَيْدِيْهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ وَالْاَرْضِ ؕ اِنْ نَّشَاْ نَخْسِفْ بِهِمُ الْاَرْضَ اَوْ نُسْقِطْ عَلَيْهِمْ كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ ؕ اِنَّ فِىْ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِّكُلِّ عَبْدٍ مُّنِيْبٍ‏(9)

AFALAM YARAW ELAA MAA BAYNA AYDEEHIM WA MAA KHALFAHUM MENAS SAMAAA-E WAL ARZ, IN NASHAA NAKHSIF BEHEMUL ARZA AW NUSQIT A’LAYHIM KESAFAM MENAS SAMAAA, INNA FEE ZAALEKA LA-AAYATAL LE-KULLE A’BDIM MONEEB.

Have they not regarded that which is before them and that which is behind them of the sky and the earth? If We like, We can make the earth swallow them, or let a fragment from the sky fall on them. There is indeed a sign in that for every penitent servant.

وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا دَاوٗدَ مِنَّا فَضْلًا ؕ يٰجِبَالُ اَوِّبِىْ مَعَهٗ وَالطَّيْرَ ۚ وَاَلَنَّا لَهُ الْحَدِيْدَ ۙ‏(10)

WA LAQAD AATAYNAA DAAWOODA MINNAA FAZLAA, YAA JEBAALO AWWEBEE MA-A’HU WAT TAYR, WA ALANNAA LAHUL HADEED.

Certainly We gave David our grace: ‘O mountains and birds, chime in with him!’ And We made iron soft for him,

اَنِ اعْمَلْ سٰبِغٰتٍ وَّقَدِّرْ فِى السَّرْدِ وَاعْمَلُوْا صَالِحًا ؕ اِنِّىْ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ بَصِيْرٌ‏(11)

ANE’MAL SAABEGHAATINW WA QADDIR FIS SARDE WA’MALOO SAALEHAA, INNEE BEMAA TA’MALOONA BASEER.

saying, ‘Make easy coats of mail, and keep the measure in arranging [the links], and act righteously. Indeed I watch what you do.’

وَلِسُلَيْمٰنَ الرِّيْحَ غُدُوُّهَا شَهْرٌ وَّرَوَاحُهَا شَهْرٌۚ وَ اَسَلْنَا لَهٗ عَيْنَ الْقِطْرِؕ وَمِنَ الْجِنِّ مَنْ يَّعْمَلُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ بِاِذْنِ رَبِّهِؕ وَمَنْ يَّزِغْ مِنْهُمْ عَنْ اَمْرِنَا نُذِقْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ السَّعِيْرِ‏(12)

WA LE-SOLAYMAANAR REEHA GHODUWWOHAA SHAHRUNW WA RAWAAHOHAA SHAHR, WA ASALNAA LAHU A’YNAL QITR, WA MENAL JINNE MAN-Y YA’MALO BAYNA YADAYHE BE-IZNE RABBEH, WA MAN-Y YAZIGH MINHUM A’N AMRENAA NOZIQHO MIN A’ZAABIS SA-E’ER.

And for Solomon [We subjected] the wind: its morning course was a month’s journey and its evening course was a month’s journey. We made a fount of [molten] copper flow for him, and [We placed at his service] some of the jinn who would work for him by the permission of his Lord, and if any of them swerved from Our command, We would make him taste the punishment of the Blaze.

يَعْمَلُوْنَ لَهٗ مَا يَشَآءُ مِنْ مَّحَارِيْبَ وَتَمَاثِيْلَ وَجِفَانٍ كَالْجَوَابِ وَقُدُوْرٍ رّٰسِيٰتٍ ؕ اِعْمَلُوْۤا اٰلَ دَاوٗدَ شُكْرًا ؕ وَقَلِيْلٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِىَ الشَّكُوْرُ‏(13)

YA’MALOONA LAHU MAA YASHAAA-O MIM MAHAAREEBA WA TAMAASEELA WA JEFAANIN KAL-JAWAABE WA QODOORIR RAASEYAAT, E-E’MALOO AALA DAAWOODA SHUKRAA, WA QALEELUM MIN E’BAADEYASH SHAKOOR.

They built for him as many temples as he wished, and figures, basins like cisterns, and caldrons fixed [in the ground]. ‘O House of David, act thankfully, and few of My servants are grateful.’

فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَوْتَ مَا دَلَّهُمْ عَلٰى مَوْتِهٖۤ اِلَّا دَآ بَّةُ الْاَرْضِ تَاْ كُلُ مِنْسَاَتَهُ ۚ فَلَمَّا خَرَّ تَبَيَّنَتِ الْجِنُّ اَنْ لَّوْ كَانُوْا يَعْلَمُوْنَ الْغَيْبَ مَا لَبِثُوْا فِى الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِيْنِ ؕ‏(14)

FALAMMAA QAZAYNAA A’LAYHIL MAWTA MAA DALLAHUM A’LAA MAWTEHI ILLAA DAABBATUL ARZE TAAKOLO MINSA-ATAH, FALAMMAA KHARRA TABAYYANATIL JINNO AL LAW KAANOO YA’LAMOONAL GHAYBA MAA LABESOO FIL A’ZAABIL MOHEEN.

When We decreed death for him, nothing apprised them of his death except a worm which gnawed away at his staff. And when he fell down, [the humans] realized that had the jinn known the Unseen, they would not have remained in a humiliating torment.

لَقَدْ كَانَ لِسَبَاٍ فِىْ مَسْكَنِهِمْ اٰيَةٌ ۚ جَنَّتٰنِ عَنْ يَّمِيْنٍ وَّشِمَالٍ ؕ کُلُوْا مِنْ رِّزْقِ رَبِّكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوْا لَهٗ ؕ بَلْدَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ وَّرَبٌّ غَفُوْرٌ‏‏(15)

LAQAD KAANA LE-SABA-EIN FEE MASKANEHIM AAYAH, JANNATAANE A’N-Y YAMEENINW WA SHEMAAL, KOLOO MIR RIZQE RABBEKUM WASH KOROO LAH, BALDATUN TAYYEBATUNW WA RABBUN GHAFOOR.

There was certainly a sign for Sheba in their habitation: two gardens, to the right and to the left. ‘Eat of the provision of your Lord and give Him thanks: a good land and an all-forgiving Lord!’

فَاَعْرَضُوْا فَاَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَيْلَ الْعَرِمِ وَبَدَّلْنٰهُمْ بِجَنَّتَيْهِمْ جَنَّتَيْنِ ذَوَاتَىْ اُكُلٍ خَمْطٍ وَّاَثْلٍ وَّشَىْءٍ مِّنْ سِدْرٍ قَلِيْلٍ‏(16)

FA-A-A’RAZOO FA-ARSALNAA A’LAYHIM SAYLAL A’REME WA BADDALNAAHUM BE-JANNATAYHIM JANNATAYNE ZAWAATAY OKOLIN KHAMTINW WA ASLINW WA SHAY-IM MIN SIDRIN QALEEL.

But they disregarded [the path of Allah], so We unleashed upon them a violent flood and replaced their two gardens with two gardens bearing bitter fruit, tamarisk, and sparse lote trees.

ذٰ لِكَ جَزَيْنٰهُمْ بِمَا كَفَرُوْا ؕ وَهَلْ نُجٰزِىْۤ اِلَّا الْكَفُوْرَ‏(17)

ZAALEKA JAZAYNAAHUM BEMAA KAFAROO, WA HAL NOJAAZEE ILLAL KAFOOR.

We requited them with that for their ingratitude. Do We not requite ingrates?

وَجَعَلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ الْقُرَى الَّتِىْ بٰرَكْنَا فِيْهَا قُرًى ظَاهِرَةً وَّقَدَّرْنَا فِيْهَا السَّيْرَ ؕ سِيْرُوْا فِيْهَا لَيَالِىَ وَاَيَّامًا اٰمِنِيْنَ‏(18)

WA JA-A’LNAA BAYNAHUM WA BAYNAL QORAL LATEE BAARAKNAA FEEHAA QORAN ZAAHERATANW WA QADDARNAA FEEHAS SAYR, SEEROO FEEHAA LAYAALEYA WA AYYAAMAN AAMENEEN.

We had placed between them and the towns which We had blessed hamlets prominent [from the main route], and We had ordained the course through them: ‘Travel through them in safety, night and day.’

فَقَالُوْا رَبَّنَا بٰعِدْ بَيْنَ اَسْفَارِنَا وَظَلَمُوْۤا اَنْفُسَهُمْ فَجَعَلْنٰهُمْ اَحَادِيْثَ وَمَزَّقْنٰهُمْ كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍ ؕ اِنَّ فِىْ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُوْرٍ‏(19)

FA-QAALOO RABBANAA BAA-I’D BAYNA ASFAARENAA WA ZALAMOO ANFOSAHUM FA-JA-A’LNAAHUM AHAADEESA WA MAZZAQNAAHUM KULLA MOMAZZAQ, INNA FEE ZAALEKA LA-AAYAATIL LE-KULLE SABBAARIN SHAKOOR.

But they said, ‘Our Lord! Make the stages between our journeys far apart,’ and they wronged themselves. So We turned them into folktales and caused them to disintegrate totally. There are indeed signs in that for every patient and grateful [servant].

وَلَقَدْ صَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِمْ اِبْلِيْسُ ظَنَّهٗ فَاتَّبَعُوْهُ اِلَّا فَرِيْقًا مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ‏(20)

WA LAQAD SADDAQA A’LAYHIM IBLEESO ZANNAHU FAT-TABA-O’OHO ILLAA FAREEQAM MENAL MOAMENEEN.

Certainly Iblis had his conjecture come true about them. So they followed him—all except a part of the faithful.

وَمَا كَانَ لَهٗ عَلَيْهِمْ مِّنْ سُلْطٰنٍ اِلَّا لِنَعْلَمَ مَنْ يُّؤْمِنُ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ مِمَّنْ هُوَ مِنْهَا فِىْ شَكٍّ ؕ وَ رَبُّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَفِيْظٌ‏(21)

WA MAA KAANA LAHU A’LAYHIM MIN SULTAANIN ILLAA LE-NA’LAMA MAN-Y YOAMENO BIL-AAKHERATE MIMMAN HOWA MINHAA FEE SHAK, WA RABBOKA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN HAFEEZ.

He had no authority over them, but that We may ascertain those who believe in the Hereafter from those who are in doubt about it, and your Lord is watchful over all things.

قُلِ ادْعُوا الَّذِيْنَ زَعَمْتُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِۚ لَا يَمْلِكُوْنَ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَلَا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِيْهِمَا مِنْ شِرْكٍ وَّمَا لَهٗ مِنْهُمْ مِّنْ ظَهِيْرٍ‏(22)

QOLID U’L LAZEENA ZA-A’MTUM MIN DOONIL LAAH, LAA YAMLEKOONA MISQAALA ZARRATIN FIS SAMAAWAATE WA LAA FIL ARZE WA MAA LAHUM FEEHEMAA MIN SHIRKINW WA MAA LAHU MINHUM MIN ZAHEER.

Say, ‘Invoke those whom you claim [to be gods] besides Allah! They do not control [even] an atom’s weight in the heavens or the earth, nor do they have any share in [either of] them, nor is any of them His helper.’

وَلَا تَنْفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ عِنْدَهٗۤ اِلَّا لِمَنْ اَذِنَ لَهٗ ؕ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا فُزِّعَ عَنْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ قَالُوْا مَاذَا ۙ قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ ؕ قَالُوا الْحَقَّ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِىُّ الْكَبِيْرُ‏(23)

WA LAA TANFA-U’SH SHAFAA-A’TO I’NDAHU ILLAA LEMAN AZENA LAH, HATTAA EZAA FUZZE-A’ A’N QOLOOBEHIM QAALOO MAAZAA, QAALA RABBOKUM, QAALUL HAQ, WA HOWAL A’LIYYUL KABEER.

Intercession is of no avail with Him, except for those whom He permits. When fear is lifted from their hearts, they say, ‘What did your Lord say?’ They say, ‘The truth, and He is the All-exalted, the All-great.’

قُلْ مَنْ يَّرْزُقُكُمْ مِّنَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِؕ قُلِ اللّٰهُ ۙ وَ اِنَّاۤ اَوْ اِيَّاكُمْ لَعَلٰى هُدًى اَوْ فِىْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ‏(24)

QUL MAN-Y YARZOQOKUM MENAS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZ, QOLIL LAAHO, WA INNAA AW IYYAAKUM LA-A’LAA HODAN AW FEE ZALAALIM MOBEEN.

Say, ‘Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?’ Say, ‘Allah! Indeed either we or you are rightly guided or in manifest error.’

قُلْ لَّا تُسْئَلُوْنَ عَمَّاۤ اَجْرَمْنَا وَلَا نُسْئَلُ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُوْنَ‏(25)

QUL LAA TUS-ALOONA A’MMAA AJRAMNAA WA LAA NUS-ALO A’MMAA TA’MALOON.

Say, ‘You will not be questioned about our guilt, nor shall we be questioned about what you do.’

قُلْ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا رَبُّنَا ثُمَّ يَفْتَحُ بَيْنَنَا بِالْحَقِّ ؕ وَهُوَ الْفَتَّاحُ الْعَلِيْمُ‏(26)

QUL YAJMA-O’ BAYNANAA RABBONAA SUMMA YAFTAHO BAYNANAA BIL-HAQ, WA HOWAL FATTAAHUL A’LEEM.

Say, ‘Our Lord will bring us together, then He will judge between us with justice, and He is the All-knowing Judge.’

قُلْ اَرُوْنِىَ الَّذِيْنَ اَ لْحَقْتُمْ بِهٖ شُرَكَآءَ كَلَّا ؕ بَلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ‏(27)

QUL AROONEYAL LAZEENA ALHAQTUM BEHI SHORAKAAA-A KALLAA, BAL HOWAL LAAHUL A’ZEEZUL HAKEEM.

Say, ‘Show me those whom you associate with Him as partners.’ No! [They can never show any such partner]. Indeed, He is Allah, the All-mighty, the All-wise.

وَمَاۤ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ اِلَّا كَآفَّةً لِّلنَّاسِ بَشِيْرًا وَّنَذِيْرًا وَّلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ‏(28)

WA MAA ARSALNAAKA ILLAA KAAFFATAL LIN-NAASE BASHEERANW WA NAZEERANW WA LAAKINNA AKSARAN NAASE LAA YA’LAMOON.

We did not send you except as a bearer of good news and warner to all mankind, but most people do not know.

وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَتٰى هٰذَا الْوَعْدُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ‏(29)

WA YAQOOLOONA MATAA HAAZAL WA’DO IN KUNTUM SAADEQEEN.

They say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?’

قُلْ لَّكُمْ مِّيْعَادُ يَوْمٍ لَّا تَسْتَاْخِرُوْنَ عَنْهُ سَاعَةً وَّلَا تَسْتَقْدِمُوْنَ‏(30)

QUL LAKUM MEE-A’ADO YAWMIL LAA TASTAAKHEROONA A’NHO SAA-A’TANW WA LAA TASTAQDEMOON.

Say, ‘Your promised hour is a day that you shall neither defer nor advance by an hour.’

وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَنْ نُّؤْمِنَ بِهٰذَا الْقُرْاٰنِ وَلَا بِالَّذِىْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِؕ وَلَوْ تَرٰٓى اِذِ الظّٰلِمُوْنَ مَوْقُوْفُوْنَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْۖۚ يَرْجِعُ بَعْضُهُمْ اِلٰى بَعْضِ اۨلْقَوْلَ‌ۚ يَقُوْلُ الَّذِيْنَ اسْتُضْعِفُوْا لِلَّذِيْنَ اسْتَكْبَرُوْا لَوْلَاۤ اَنْتُمْ لَكُنَّا مُؤْمِنِيْنَ‏(31)

WA QAALAL LAZEENA KAFAROO LAN NOAMENA BEHAAZAL QUR-AANE WA LAA BILLAZEE BAYNA YADAYH, WA LAW TARAA EZIZ ZAALEMOONA MAWQOOFOONA I’NDA RABBEHIM, YARJE-O’ BA’ZOHUM ELAA BA’ZENIL QAWL, YAQOOLUL LAZEENAS TUZ-E’FOO LILLAZEENAS TAKBAROO LAWLAA ANTUM LAKUNNAA MOAMENEEN.

The faithless say, ‘We will never believe in this Quran, nor in what was [revealed] before it.’ But if you were to see when the wrongdoers will be made to stop before their Lord casting the blame on one another. Those who were abased will say to those who were arrogant, ‘Had it not been for you, we would surely have been faithful.’

قَالَ الَّذِيْنَ اسْتَكْبَرُوْا لِلَّذِيْنَ اسْتُضْعِفُوْۤا اَنَحْنُ صَدَدْنٰكُمْ عَنِ الْهُدٰى بَعْدَ اِذْ جَآءَكُمْ بَلْ كُنْتُمْ مُّجْرِمِيْنَ‏(32)

QAALAL LAZEENAS TAKBAROO LILLAZEENAS TUZ-E’FOO ANAHNO SADADNAAKUM A’NIL HODAA BA’DA IZ JAAA-AKUM BAL KUNTUM MUJREMEEN.

Those who were arrogant will say to those who were abased, ‘Did we keep you from guidance after it had come to you? No, you were guilty [yourselves].’

وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ اسْتُضْعِفُوْا لِلَّذِيْنَ اسْتَكْبَرُوْا بَلْ مَكْرُ الَّيْلِ وَ النَّهَارِ اِذْ تَاْمُرُوْنَنَاۤ اَنْ نَّكْفُرَ بِاللّٰهِ وَنَجْعَلَ لَهٗۤ اَنْدَادًا ؕ وَاَسَرُّوا النَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَاَوُا الْعَذَابَ ؕ وَجَعَلْنَا الْاَغْلٰلَ فِىْۤ اَعْنَاقِ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا ؕ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ‏(33)

WA QAALAL LAZEENAS TUZ-E’FOO LILLAZEENAS TAKBAROO BAL MAKRUL LAYLE WAN NAHAARE IZ TAAMOROONANAA AN NAKFORA BIL-LAAHE WA NAJ-A’LA LAHU ANDAADAA, WA ASARRUN NADAAMATA LAMMAA RA-AWUL A’ZAAB, WA JA-A’LNAL AGHLAALA FEE A-A’NAAQIL LAZEENA KAFAROO, HAL YUJZAWNA ILLAA MAA KAANOO YA’MALOON.

Those who were abased will say to those who were arrogant, ‘No, [it was your] night and day plotting, when you prompted us to forswear Allah and to set up equals to Him.’ They will hide their remorse when they sight the punishment, and We will put iron collars around the necks of the faithless. Shall they not be requited for what they used to do?

وَمَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا فِىْ قَرْيَةٍ مِّنْ نَّذِيْرٍ اِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوْهَاۤ ۙاِنَّا بِمَاۤ اُرْسِلْتُمْ بِهٖ كٰفِرُوْنَ‏(34)

WA MAA ARSALNAA FEE QARYATIM MIN NAZEERIN ILLAA QAALA MUTRAFOOHAA, INNAA BEMAA URSILTUM BEHI KAAFEROON.

We did not send a warner to any town without its affluent ones saying, ‘We indeed disbelieve in what you have been sent with.’

وَ قَالُوْا نَحْنُ اَكْثَرُ اَمْوَالًا وَّاَوْلَادًا ۙ وَّمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِيْنَ‏(35)

WA QAALOO NAHNO AKSARO AMWAALANW WA AWLAADANW, WA MAA NAHNO BE-MO-A’ZZABEEN.

They say, ‘We have greater wealth and more children, and we will not be punished!’

قُلْ اِنَّ رَبِّىْ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ‏(36)

QUL INNA RABBEE YABSOTUR RIZQA LEMAN-Y YASHAAA-O WA YAQDERO WA LAAKINNA AKSARAN NAASE LAA YA’LAMOON.

Say, ‘Indeed my Lord expands the provision for whomever He wishes and He tightens it, but most people do not know.’

وَمَاۤ اَمْوَالُكُمْ وَلَاۤ اَوْلَادُكُمْ بِالَّتِىْ تُقَرِّبُكُمْ عِنْدَنَا زُلْفٰٓى اِلَّا مَنْ اٰمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَاُولٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ جَزَآءُ الضِّعْفِ بِمَا عَمِلُوْا وَهُمْ فِى الْغُرُفٰتِ اٰمِنُوْنَ‏(37)

WA MAA AMWAALOKUM WA LAA AWLAADOKUM BILLATEE TOQARREBOKUM I’NDANAA ZULFAA ILLAA MAN AAMANA WA A’MELA SAALEHAA, FA-OOLAAA-EKA LAHUM JAZAAA-UZ ZE’FE BEMAA A’MELOO WA HUM FIL GHOROFAATE AAMENOON.

It is not your wealth, nor your children, that will bring you close to Us in nearness, excepting those who have faith and act righteously. It is they for whom there will be a twofold reward for what they did, and they will be secure in lofty abodes.

وَ الَّذِيْنَ يَسْعَوْنَ فِىْۤ اٰيٰتِنَا مُعٰجِزِيْنَ اُولٰٓئِكَ فِى الْعَذَابِ مُحْضَرُوْنَ‏(38)

WAL LAZEENA YAS-A’WNA FEE AAYAATENAA MO-A’AJEZEENA OOLAAA-EKA FIL A’ZAABE MOHZAROON.

As for those who contend with Our signs seeking to frustrate [their purpose], they will be brought to the punishment.

قُلْ اِنَّ رَبِّىْ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهٖ وَيَقْدِرُ لَهٗ ؕ وَمَاۤ اَنْفَقْتُمْ مِّنْ شَىْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهٗ ۚ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرّٰزِقِيْنَ‏(39)

QUL INNA RABBEE YABSOTUR RIZQA LEMAN-Y YASHAAA-O MIN E’BAADEHI WA YAQDERO LAH, WA MAA ANFAQTUM MIN SHAY-IN FAHOWA YUKHLEFOH, WA HOWA KHAYRUR RAAZEQEEN.

Say, ‘Indeed my Lord expands the provision for whomever of His servants that He wishes and tightens it, and He will repay whatever you may spend, and He is the best of providers.’

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيْعًا ثُمَّ يَقُوْلُ لِلْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ اَهٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ اِيَّاكُمْ كَانُوْا يَعْبُدُوْنَ‏(40)

WA YAWMA YAHSHOROHUM JAMEE-A’N SUMMA YAQOOLO LIL-MALAAA-EKATE AHAA-OLAAA-E IYYAAKUM KAANOO YA’BODOON.

On the day He will muster them all together, He will say to the angels, ‘Was it you that these used to worship?’

قَالُوْا سُبْحٰنَكَ اَنْتَ وَلِيُّنَا مِنْ دُوْنِهِمْۚ بَلْ كَانُوْا يَعْبُدُوْنَ الْجِنَّ ۚ اَكْثَرُهُمْ بِهِمْ مُّؤْمِنُوْنَ‏(41)

QAALOO SUBHAANAKA ANTA WALIYYONAA MIN DOONEHIM, BAL KAANOO YA’BODOONAL JIN, AKSAROHUM BEHIM MOAMENOON.

They will say, ‘Immaculate are You! You are our wali, not they! No, they used to worship the jinn; most of them had faith in them.’

فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يَمْلِكُ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ نَّفْعًا وَّلَا ضَرًّا ؕ وَنَقُوْلُ لِلَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا ذُوْقُوْا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الَّتِىْ كُنْتُمْ بِهَا تُكَذِّبُوْنَ‏(42)

FALYAWMA LAA YAMLEKO BA’ZOKUM LE-BA’ZIN NAF-A’NW WA LAA ZARRAA, WA NAQOOLO LILLAZEENA ZALAMOO ZOOQOO A’ZAABAN NAARIL LATEE KUNTUM BEHAA TOKAZZEBOON.

‘Today you have no power to benefit or harm one another,’ and We shall say to those who did wrong, ‘Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny.’

وَاِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيٰتُنَا بَيِّنٰتٍ قَالُوْا مَا هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا رَجُلٌ يُّرِيْدُ اَنْ يَّصُدَّكُمْ عَمَّا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ اٰبَآؤُكُمْ‌ ۚ وَقَالُوْا مَا هٰذَاۤ اِلَّاۤ اِفْكٌ مُّفْتَرً ىؕ وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ ۙ اِنْ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِيْنٌ‏(43)

WA EZAA TUTLAA A’LAYHIM AAYAATONAA BAYYENAATIN QAALOO MAA HAAZAA ILLAA RAJOLUN-Y YOREEDO AN-Y YASUDDAKUM A’MMAA KAANA YA’BODO AABAAA-OKUM, WA QAALOO MAA HAAZAA ILLAA IFKUM MUFTARAA, WA QAALAL LAZEENA KAFAROO LIL-HAQQE LAMMAA JAAA-AHUM, IN HAAZAA ILLAA SEHRUM MOBEEN.

When Our manifest signs are recited to them, they say, ‘This is just a man who desires to keep you from what your fathers used to worship.’ And they say, ‘This is nothing but a fabricated lie.’ The faithless say of the truth when it comes to them: ‘This is nothing but plain magic,’

وَمَاۤ اٰتَيْنٰهُمْ مِّنْ كُتُبٍ يَّدْرُسُوْنَهَا وَمَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَاۤ اِلَيْهِمْ قَبْلَكَ مِنْ نَّذِيْرٍؕ‏(44)

WA MAA AATAYNAAHUM MIN KOTOBIN-Y YADROSOONAHAA WA MAA ARSALNAA ELAYHIM QABLAKA MIN NAZEER.

though We did not give them any scriptures that they might have studied, nor did We send them any warner before you.

وَكَذَّبَ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْۙ وَمَا بَلَغُوْا مِعْشَارَ مَاۤ اٰتَيْنٰهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوْا رُسُلِىْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيْرِ‏(45)

WA KAZZABAL LAZEENA MIN QABLEHIM, WA MAA BALAGHOO ME’SHAARA MAA AATAYNAAHUM FA-KAZZABOO ROSOLEE, FAKAYFA KAANA NAKEER.

Those who were before them had also denied—and these have not attained one-tenth of what We had given them—they impugned My apostles, so how was My rebuttal!

قُلْ اِنَّمَاۤ اَعِظُكُمْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ ۚ اَنْ تَقُوْمُوْا لِلّٰهِ مَثْنٰى وَفُرَادٰى ثُمَّ تَتَفَكَّرُوْا مَا بِصَاحِبِكُمْ مِّنْ جِنَّةٍ ؕ اِنْ هُوَ اِلَّا نَذِيْرٌ لَّكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيْدٍ‏(46)

QUL INNAMAA A-E’ZOKUM BE-WAAHEDAH, AN TAQOOMOO LILLAAHE MASNAA WA FORAADAA SUMMA TATAFAKKAROO, MAA BE-SAAHEBEKUM MIN JINNAH, IN HOWA ILLAA NAZEERUL LAKUM BAYNA YADAY A’ZAABIN SHADEED.

Say, ‘I give you just a single advice: that you rise up for Allah’s sake, in pairs or singly, and then reflect: there is no madness in your companion; he is just a warner to you before [the befalling of] a severe punishment.’

قُلْ مَا سَاَ لْتُكُمْ مِّنْ اَجْرٍ فَهُوَ لَكُمْ ؕ اِنْ اَجْرِىَ اِلَّا عَلَى اللّٰهِ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيْدٌ‏(47)

QUL MAA SA-ALTOKUM MIN AJRIN FAHOWA LAKUM, IN AJREYA ILLAA A’LAL LAAH, WA HOWA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN SHAHEED.

Say, ‘Whatever reward I may have asked you is for your own good. My [true] reward lies only with Allah, and He is witness to all things.’

قُلْ اِنَّ رَبِّىْ يَقْذِفُ بِالْحَقِّ‌ۚ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوْبِ‏(48)

QUL INNA RABBEE YAQZEFO BIL-HAQ, A’LLAAMUL GHOYOOB.

Say, ‘Indeed my Lord hurls the truth. [He is] the knower of all that is Unseen.’

قُلْ جَآءَ الْحَقُّ وَمَا يُبْدِئُ الْبَاطِلُ وَمَا يُعِيْدُ‏(49)

QUL JAAA-AL HAQQO WA MAA YUBDE-UL BAATELO WA MAA YO-E’ED.

Say, ‘The truth has come, and falsehood neither originates nor restores [anything].’

قُلْ اِنْ ضَلَلْتُ فَاِنَّمَاۤ اَضِلُّ عَلٰى نَفْسِىْ ۚ وَاِنِ اهْتَدَيْتُ فَبِمَا يُوْحِىْۤ اِلَىَّ رَبِّىْ ؕ اِنَّهٗ سَمِيْعٌ قَرِيْبٌ‏(50)

QUL IN ZALALTO FA-INNAMAA AZILLO A’LAA NAFSEE, WA ENEH TADAYTO FABEMAA YOOHEE ELAYYA RABBEE, INNAHU SAMEE-U’N QAREEB.

Say, ‘If I go astray, my going astray is only to my own harm, and if I am rightly guided that is because of what my Lord has revealed to me. Indeed He is all-hearing and nearmost.’

وَلَوْ تَرٰٓى اِذْ فَزِعُوْا فَلَا فَوْتَ وَاُخِذُوْا مِنْ مَّكَانٍ قَرِيْبٍۙ‏(51)

WA LAW TARAA IZ FAZE-O’O FALAA FAWTA WA OKHEZOO MIM MAKAANIN QAREEB.

Were you to see them when they will be stricken with terror, without any escape, and are seized from a close quarter.

وَّقَالُوْۤا اٰمَنَّا بِهٖ‌ ۚ وَاَنّٰى لَهُمُ التَّنَاوُشُ مِنْ مَّكَانٍۢ بَعِيْدٍ ۖۚ‏(52)

WA QAALOO AAMANNAA BEH, WA ANNAA LAHOMUT TANAAWOSHO MIM MAKAANIM BA-E’ED.

They will say, ‘We believe in it [now]!’ But how can they attain it from a far-off place,

وَّقَدْ كَفَرُوْا بِهٖ مِنْ قَبْلُۚ وَيَقْذِفُوْنَ بِالْغَيْبِ مِنْ مَّكَانٍۢ بَعِيْدٍ‌‏(53)

WA QAD KAFAROO BEHI MIN QABL, WA YAQZEFOONA BIL-GHAYBE MIM MAKAANIM BA-E’ED.

when they denied it in the past—shooting at something invisible from a far-off place—

وَحِيْلَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ مَا يَشْتَهُوْنَ كَمَا فُعِلَ بِاَشْيَاعِهِمْ مِّنْ قَبْلُؕ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا فِىْ شَكٍّ مُّرِيْبٍ‏(54)

WA HEELA BAYNAHUM WA BAYNA MAA YASHTAHOONA KAMAA FO-E’LA BE-ASHYAA-E’HIM MIN QABL, INNAHUM KAANOO FEE SHAKKIM MOREEB.

and a barrier is set between them and what they desire, as was done aforetime with their likes, who had remained in grave doubt?

35: Fatir فاطر

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful

اَ لْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ فَاطِرِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ جَاعِلِ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ رُسُلًا اُولِىْۤ اَجْنِحَةٍ مَّثْنٰى وَثُلٰثَ وَرُبٰعَ ؕ يَزِيْدُ فِى الْخَلْقِ مَا يَشَآءُ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ‏(1)

AL-HAMDO LILLAAHE FAATERIS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZE JAA-E’LIL MALAAA-EKATE ROSOLAN OOLEE AJNEHATIM MASNAA WA SOLAASA WA ROBAA’, YAZEEDO FIL KHALQE MAA YASHAAA, INNAL LAAHA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEER.

All praise belongs to Allah, originator of the heavens and the earth, maker of the angels [His] messengers, possessing wings, two, three or four [of them]. He adds to the creation whatever He wishes. Indeed Allah has power over all things.

مَا يَفْتَحِ اللّٰهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِنْ رَّحْمَةٍ فَلَا مُمْسِكَ لَهَاۚ وَمَا يُمْسِكْ ۙ فَلَا مُرْسِلَ لَهٗ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهؕ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ‏(2)

MAA YAFTAHIL LAAHO LIN-NAASE MIR RAHMATIN FALAA MUMSEKA LAHAA, WA MAA YUMSIK, FALAA MURSELA LAHU MIM BA’DEH, WA HOWAL A’ZEEZUL HAKEEM.

Whatever mercy Allah unfolds for the people, no one can withhold it; and whatever He withholds no one can release it except Him, and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَتَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْؕ هَلْ مِنْ خَالِقٍ غَيْرُ اللّٰهِ يَرْزُقُكُمْ مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ وَالْاَرْضِؕ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۖ فَاَنّٰى تُؤْفَكُوْنَ‏(3)

YAA AYYOHAN NAASUZ KOROO NE’MATAL LAAHE A’LAYKUM, HAL MIN KHAALEQIN GHAYRUL LAAHE YARZOQOKUM MENAS SAMAAA-E WAL ARZ, LAA ELAAHA ILLAA HOO, FA-ANNAA TOAFAKOON.

O mankind! Remember Allah’s blessing upon you! Is there any creator other than Allah who provides for you from the sky and the earth? There is no god except Him. So where do you stray?

وَاِنْ يُّكَذِّبُوْكَ فَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌ مِّنْ قَبْلِكَؕ وَاِلَى اللّٰهِ تُرْجَعُ الْاُمُوْرُ‏(4)

WA IN-Y YOKAZZEBOOKA FAQAD KUZZEBAT ROSOLUM MIN QABLEK, WA ELAL LAAHE TURJA-U’L OMOOR.

If they impugn you, certainly [other] apostles were impugned before you, and all matters are returned to Allah.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَاوَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُمْ بِاللّٰهِ الْغَرُوْرُ‏(5)

YAA AYYOHAN NAASO INNA WA’DAL LAAHE HAQQUN FALAA TAGHURRANNAKOMUL HAYAATUD DUNYAA, WA LAA YAGHURRANNAKUM BIL-LAAHIL GHAROOR.

O mankind! Allah’s promise is indeed true. So do not let the life of the world deceive you, nor let the Deceiver deceive you concerning Allah.

اِنَّ الشَّيْطٰنَ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ فَاتَّخِذُوْهُ عَدُوًّا ؕ اِنَّمَا يَدْعُوْا حِزْبَهٗ لِيَكُوْنُوْا مِنْ اَصْحٰبِ السَّعِيْرِؕ‏(6)

INNASH SHAYTAANA LAKUM A’DUWWUN FAT-TAKHEZOOHO A’DUWWAA, INNAMAA YAD-O’O HIZBAHU LE-YAKOONOO MIN ASHAABIS SA-E’ER.

Satan is indeed your enemy, so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his confederates so that they may be among the inmates of the Blaze.

اَ لَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيْدٌ ؕ وَّالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوْا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَّاَجْرٌ كَبِيْرٌ‏(7)

LAZEENA KAFAROO LAHUM A’ZAABUN SHADEED, WAL LAZEENA AAMANOO WA A’MELUS SAALEHAATE LAHUM MAGHFERATUNW WA AJRUN KABEER.

There is a severe punishment for the faithless; but for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, there will be forgiveness and a great reward.

اَفَمَنْ زُيِّنَ لَهٗ سُوْٓءُ عَمَلِهٖ فَرَاٰهُ حَسَنًا ؕ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُضِلُّ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ وَيَهْدِىْ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ ‌ۖ  فَلَا تَذْهَبْ نَفْسُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسَرٰتٍ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلِيْمٌۢ بِمَا يَصْنَعُوْنَ‏(8)

AFAMAN ZUYYENA LAHU SOO-O A’MALEHI FA-RA-AAHO HASANAA, FA-INNAL LAAHA YOZILLO MAN-Y YASHAAA-O WA YAHDEE MAN-Y YASHAAA, FALAA TAZHAB NAFSOKA A’LAYHIM HASARAAT, INNAL LAAHA A’LEEMUM BEMAA YASNA-O’ON.

Is someone the evil of whose conduct is presented as decorous to him, so he regards it as good.... Indeed Allah leads astray whomever He wishes, and guides whomever He wishes. So do not fret yourself to death regretting for them. Indeed Allah knows best what they do.

وَاللّٰهُ الَّذِىْۤ اَرْسَلَ الرِّيٰحَ فَتُثِيْرُ سَحَابًا فَسُقْنٰهُ اِلٰى بَلَدٍ مَّيِّتٍ فَاَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ؕ كَذٰلِكَ النُّشُوْرُ‏(9)

WAL LAAHUL LAZEE ARSALAR REYAAHA FA-TOSEERO SAHAABAN FA-SUQNAAHO ELAA BALADIM MAYYETIN FA-AHYAYNAA BEHIL ARZA BA’DA MAWTEHAA, KAZAALEKAN NOSHOOR.

It is Allah who sends the winds and they raise a cloud; then We drive it toward a dead land and with it revive the earth after its death. Likewise will be the resurrection [of the dead].

مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيْدُ الْعِزَّةَ فَلِلّٰهِ الْعِزَّةُ جَمِيْعًا ؕ اِلَيْهِ يَصْعَدُ الْكَلِمُ الطَّيِّبُ وَالْعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ يَرْفَعُهٗ ؕ وَ الَّذِيْنَ يَمْكُرُوْنَ السَّيِّاٰتِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيْدٌ ؕ وَمَكْرُ اُولٰٓئِكَ هُوَ يَبُوْرُ‏(10)

MAN KAANA YOREEDUL I’ZZATA FALILLAAHIL I’ZZATO JAMEE-A’A, ELAYHE YAS-A’DUL KALEMUT TAYYEBO WAL A’MALUS SAALEHO YARFA-O’H, WAL LAZEENA YAMKOROONAS SAYYE-AATE LAHUM A’ZAABUN SHADEED, WA MAKRO OOLAAA-EKA HOWA YABOOR.

Whoever seeks honour [should know that] honour entirely belongs to Allah. To Him ascends the good word, and He elevates righteous conduct; as for those who devise evil schemes, there is a severe punishment for them, and their plotting shall come to naught.

وَاللّٰهُ خَلَقَكُمْ مِّنْ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَكُمْ اَزْوَاجًا ؕ وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ اُنْثٰى وَلَا تَضَعُ اِلَّا بِعِلْمِهؕ وَمَا يُعَمَّرُ مِنْ مُّعَمَّرٍ وَّلَا يُنْقَصُ مِنْ عُمُرِهٖۤ اِلَّا فِىْ كِتٰبٍؕ اِنَّ ذٰلِكَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ يَسِيْرٌ‏(11)

WAL LAAHO KHALAQAKUM MIN TORAABIN SUMMA MIN NUTFATIN SUMMA JA-A’LAKUM AZWAAJAA, WA MAA TAHMELO MIN UNSAA WA LAA TAZA-O’ ILLAA BE-I’LMEH, WA MAA YO-A’MMARO MIM MO-A’MMARINW WA LAA YUNQASO MIN O’MOREHI ILLAA FEE KETAAB, INNA ZAALEKA A’LAL LAAHE YASEER.

Allah created you from dust, then from a drop of [seminal] fluid, then He made you mates. No female conceives or delivers except with His knowledge, and no elderly person advances in years, nor is anything diminished of his life, but it is [recorded] in a Book. That is indeed easy for Allah.

وَمَا يَسْتَوِىْ الْبَحْرٰنِ ‌ۖ  هٰذَا عَذْبٌ فُرَاتٌ سَآئِغٌ شَرَابُهٗ وَ هٰذَا مِلْحٌ اُجَاجٌ ؕ وَمِنْ كُلٍّ تَاْكُلُوْنَ لَحْمًا طَرِيًّا وَّتَسْتَخْرِجُوْنَ حِلْيَةً تَلْبَسُوْنَهَا ۚ وَتَرَى الْفُلْكَ فِيْهِ مَوَاخِرَ لِتَبْتَغُوْا مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ‏(12)

WA MAA YASTAWIL BAHRAAN, HAAZAA A’ZBUN FORAATUN SAAA-EGHUN SHARAABOHU WA HAAZAA MILHUN OJAAJ, WA MIN KULLIN TAAKOLOONA LAHMAN TARIYYANW WA TASTAKHREJOONA HILYATAN TALBASOONAHAA, WA TARAL FULKA FEEHE MAWAAKHERA LE-TABTAGHOO MIN FAZLEHI WA LA-A’LLAKUM TASHKOROON.

Not alike are the two seas: this one sweet and agreeable, pleasant to drink, and that one briny and bitter, and from each you eat fresh meat and obtain ornaments, which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through them, that you may seek of His bounty, and so that you may give thanks.

يُوْلِجُ الَّيْلَ فِى النَّهَارِ وَيُوْلِجُ النَّهَارَ فِى الَّيْلِ ۙ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ ‌ۖ  كُلٌّ يَّجْرِىْ لِاَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ؕ ذٰ لِكُمُ اللّٰهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ ؕ وَالَّذِيْنَ تَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِهٖ مَا يَمْلِكُوْنَ مِنْ قِطْمِيْرٍؕ‏(13)

YOOLEJUL LAYLA FIN NAHAARE WA YOOLEJUN NAHAARA FIL LAYLE, WA SAKH-KHARASH SHAMSA WAL QAMAR, KULLUN-Y YAJREE LE-AJALIM MOSAMMAA, ZAALEKOMUL LAAHO RABBOKUM LAHUL MULK, WAL LAZEENA TAD-O’ONA MIN DOONEHI MAA YAMLEKOONA MIN QITMEER.

He makes the night pass into the day and makes the day pass into the night, and He has disposed the sun and the moon, each moving for a specified term. That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs all sovereignty. As for those whom you invoke besides Him, they do not control so much as the husk of a date stone.

اِنْ تَدْعُوْهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُوْا دُعَآءَكُمْ‌ ۚ وَلَوْ سَمِعُوْا مَا اسْتَجَابُوْا لَكُمْ ؕ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ يَكْفُرُوْنَ بِشِرْكِكُمْ ؕ وَلَا يُنَبِّئُكَ مِثْلُ خَبِيْرٍ‏(14)

IN TAD-O’OHUM LAA YASMA-O’O DO-A’AA-AKUM, WA LAW SAME-O’O MAS TAJAABOO LAKUM, WA YAWMAL QEYAAMATE YAKFOROONA BE-SHIRKEKUM, WA LAA YONABBE-OKA MISLO KHABEER.

If you invoke them they will not hear your invocation, and even if they heard they cannot respond to you, and on the Day of Resurrection they will forswear your polytheism, and none can inform you like the One who is all-aware.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اَنْتُمُ الْفُقَرَآءُ اِلَى اللّٰهِۚ وَاللّٰهُ هُوَ الْغَنِىُّ الْحَمِيْدُ‏(15)

YAA AYYOHAN NAASO ANTOMUL FOQARAAA-O ELAL LAAH, WAL LAAHO HOWAL GHANIYYUL HAMEED.

O mankind! You are the ones who stand in need of Allah, and Allah—He is the All-sufficient, the All-laudable.

اِنْ يَّشَاْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَاْتِ بِخَلْقٍ جَدِيْدٍۚ‏(16)

INY YASHAA-A YUZHIBKUM WA YAA-TE BEKHALQIN JADEED.

If He wishes, He will take you away, and bring about a new creation;

وَمَا ذٰ لِكَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ بِعَزِيْزٍ‏(17)

WA MAA ZAALEKA A’LAL LAAHE BE-A’ZEEZ.

and that is not a hard thing for Allah.

وَ لَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِّزْرَ اُخْرَىٰ ؕ وَاِنْ تَدْعُ مُثْقَلَةٌ اِلٰى حِمْلِهَا لَا يُحْمَلْ مِنْهُ شَىْءٌ وَّلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبٰى ؕ اِنَّمَا تُنْذِرُ الَّذِيْنَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالْغَيْبِ وَاَقَامُوا الصَّلٰوةَ ؕ وَمَنْ تَزَكّٰى فَاِنَّمَا يَتَزَكّٰى لِنَفْسِهٖ ؕ وَاِلَى اللّٰهِ الْمَصِيْرُ‏(18)

WA LAA TAZERO WAAZERATUNW WIZRA UKHRAA, WA IN TAD-O’ MUSQALATUN ELAA HIMLEHAA LAA YOHMAL MINHO SHAY-UNW WA LAW KAANA ZAA QURBAA, INNAMAA TUNZERUL LAZEENA YAKHSHAWNA RABBAHUM BIL-GHAYBE WA AQAAMUS SALAAH, WA MAN TAZAKKAA FA-INNAMAA YATAZAKKAA LE-NAFSEH, WA ELAL LAAHIL MASEER.

No bearer shall bear another’s burden, and should someone heavily burdened call [another] to carry it, nothing of it will be carried [by anyone] even if he should be a near relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord in secret and maintain the prayer. Whoever purifies himself, purifies only for his own sake, and to Allah is the return.

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى الْاَعْمٰى وَالْبَصِيْرُ ۙ‏(19)

WA MAA YASTAWIL A-A’MAA WAL BASEER.

The blind one and the seer are not equal,

وَلَا الظُّلُمٰتُ وَلَا النُّوْرُۙ‏(20)

WA LAZ ZOLOMAATO WA LAN NOOR.

nor darkness and light;

وَلَا الظِّلُّ وَلَا الْحَرُوْرُۚ‏(21)

WA LAZ ZILLO WA LAL HAROOR.

nor shade and torrid heat;

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى الْاَحْيَآءُ وَلَا الْاَمْوَاتُ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُسْمِعُ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ ۚ وَمَاۤ اَنْتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَّنْ فِى الْقُبُوْرِ‏(22)

WA MAA YASTAWIL AHYAAA-O WA LAL AMWAAT, INNAL LAAHA YUSME-O’ MAN-Y YASHAAA, WA MAA ANTA BE-MUSME-I’M MAN FIL QOBOOR.

nor are the living equal to the dead. Indeed Allah makes whomever He wishes to hear, and you cannot make those who are in the graves hear you.

اِنْ اَنْتَ اِلَّا نَذِيْرٌ‏(23)

IN ANTA ILLAA NAZEER.

You are but a warner.

اِنَّاۤ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيْرًا وَّنَذِيْرًاؕ وَاِنْ مِّنْ اُمَّةٍ اِلَّا خَلَا فِيْهَا نَذِيْرٌ‏(24)

INNAA ARSALNAAKA BIL-HAQQE BASHEERANW WA NAZEERAA, WA IM MIN UMMATIN ILLAA KHALAA FEEHAA NAZEER.

Indeed We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of good news and as a warner; and there is not a nation but a warner has passed in it.

وَاِنْ يُّكَذِّبُوْكَ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ‌ۚ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنٰتِ وَبِالزُّبُرِ وَبِالْكِتٰبِ الْمُنِيْرِ‏(25)

WA IN-Y YOKAZZEBOOKA FAQAD KAZZABAL LAZEENA MIN QABLEHIM, JAAA-ATHUM ROSOLOHUM BIL-BAYYENAATE WA BIZ-ZOBORE WA BIL-KETAABIL MONEER.

If they impugn you, those before them have impugned [likewise]: their apostles brought them manifest proofs, [holy] writs, and illuminating scriptures.

ثُمَّ اَخَذْتُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيْرِ‏(26)

SUMMA AKHAZTUL LAZEENA KAFAROO FAKAYFA KAANA NAKEER.

Then I seized the faithless. So how was My rebuttal!

اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ اَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً‌ۚ فَاَخْرَجْنَا بِهٖ ثَمَرٰتٍ مُّخْتَلِفًا اَلْوَانُهَاؕ وَمِنَ الْجِبَالِ جُدَدٌۢ بِيْضٌ وَّحُمْرٌ مُّخْتَلِفٌ اَلْوَانُهَا وَغَرَابِيْبُ سُوْدٌ‏(27)

ALAM TARA ANNAL LAAHA ANZALA MENAS SAMAAA-E MAAA-AA, FA-AKHRAJNAA BEHI SAMARAATIM MUKHTALEFAN ALWAANOHAA, WA MENAL JEBAALE JODADUM BEEZUNW WA HUMRUM MUKHTALEFUN ALWAANOHAA WA GHARAABEEBO SOOD.

Have you not regarded that Allah sends down water from the sky, with which We produce fruits of diverse hues. And in the mountains are stripes, white and red, of diverse hues, and [others] pitch black?

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ وَالدَّوَآبِّ وَالْاَنْعَامِ مُخْتَلِفٌ اَ لْوَانُهٗ كَذٰلِكَ ؕ اِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللّٰهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمٰٓؤُا ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَزِيْزٌ غَفُوْرٌ‏(28)

WA MENAN NAASE WAD DAWAABBE WAL AN-A’AME MUKHTALEFUN ALWAANOHU KAZAALEK, INNAMAA YAKHSHAL LAAHA MIN E’BAADEHIL O’LAMAAA, INNAL LAAHA A’ZEEZUN GHAFOOR.

And of humans and beasts and cattle there are likewise diverse hues. Only those of Allah’s servants having knowledge fear Him. Indeed Allah is all-mighty, all-forgiving.

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ يَتْلُوْنَ كِتٰبَ اللّٰهِ وَاَقَامُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاَنْفَقُوْا مِمَّا رَزَقْنٰهُمْ سِرًّا وَّعَلَانِيَةً يَّرْجُوْنَ تِجَارَةً لَّنْ تَبُوْرَۙ‏(29)

INNAL LAZEENA YATLOONA KETAABAL LAAHE WA AQAAMUS SALAATA WA ANFAQOO MIMMAA RAZAQNAAHUM SIRRANW WA A’LAANEYATAN-Y YARJOONA TEJAARATAL LAN TABOOR.

Indeed those who recite the Book of Allah and maintain the prayer, and spend secretly and openly out of what We have provided them, expect a commerce that will never go bankrupt,

لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ اُجُوْرَهُمْ وَيَزِيْدَهُمْ مِّنْ فَضْلِهٖ ؕ اِنَّهٗ غَفُوْرٌ شَكُوْرٌ‏(30)

LE-YOWAFFEYAHUM OJOORAHUM WA YAZEEDAHUM MIN FAZLEH, INNAHU GHAFOORUN SHAKOOR.

so that He may pay them their full reward and enhance them out of His bounty. Indeed He is all-forgiving, all-appreciative.

وَالَّذِىْۤ اَوْحَيْنَاۤ اِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْكِتٰبِ هُوَ الْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِعِبَادِهٖ لَخَبِيْرٌۢ بَصِيْرٌ‏(31)

WAL LAZEE AWHAYNAA ELAYKA MENAL KETAABE HOWAL HAQQO MOSADDEQAL LEMAA BAYNA YADAYH, INNAL LAAHA BE-E’BAADEHI LA-KHABEERUM BASEER.

That which We have revealed to you of the Book is the truth, confirming what was [revealed] before it. Indeed Allah is all-aware, all-seeing about His servants.

ثُمَّ اَوْرَثْنَا الْكِتٰبَ الَّذِيْنَ اصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَاۚ فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهٖ‌ۚ وَمِنْهُمْ مُّقْتَصِدٌ‌ۚ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌۢ بِالْخَيْرٰتِ بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِؕ ذٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْكَبِيْرُؕ‏(32)

SUMMA AWRASNAL KETAABAL LAZEENAS TAFAYNAA MIN E’BAADENAA, FAMINHUM ZAALEMUL LE-NAFSEH, WA MINHUM MUQTASED, WA MINHUM SAABEQUM BIL-KHAYRAATE BE-IZNIL LAAH, ZAALEKA HOWAL FAZLUL KABEER.

Then We made those whom We chose from Our servants heirs to the Book. Yet some of them are those who wrong themselves, and some of them are average, and some of them are those who take the lead in all the good works by Allah’s will. That is the greatest grace [of Allah]!

جَنّٰتُ عَدْنٍ يَّدْخُلُوْنَهَا يُحَلَّوْنَ فِيْهَا مِنْ اَسَاوِرَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَّلُؤْلُؤًا ۚ وَلِبَاسُهُمْ فِيْهَا حَرِيْرٌ‏(33)

JANNAATO A’DNIN-Y YADKHOLOONAHAA YOHALLAWNA FEEHAA MIN ASAAWERA MIN ZAHABINW WA LOALO-AA, WA LEBAASOHUM FEEHAA HAREER.

Gardens of Eden, which they will enter, adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl, and their garments therein will be of silk.

وَقَالُوا الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىْۤ اَذْهَبَ عَنَّا الْحَزَنَ ؕ اِنَّ رَبَّنَا لَغَفُوْرٌ شَكُوْرُ ۙ‏(34)

WA QAALUL HAMDO LILLAAHIL LAZEE AZHABA A’NNAL HAZAN, INNA RABBANAA LA-GHAFOORUN SHAKOOR.

They will say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, who has removed all grief from us. Indeed Our Lord is all-forgiving, all-appreciative,

اۨلَّذِىْۤ اَحَلَّنَا دَارَ الْمُقَامَةِ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ‌ۚ لَا يَمَسُّنَا فِيْهَا نَصَبٌ وَّلَا يَمَسُّنَا فِيْهَا لُغُوْبٌ‏(35)

LAZEE AHALLANAA DAARAL MOQAAMATE MIN FAZLEH, LAA YAMASSONAA FEEHAA NASABUNW WA LAA YAMASSONAA FEEHAA LOGHOOB.

who has settled us in the everlasting abode by His grace. In it we are untouched by toil, and untouched by fatigue.’

وَالَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَهُمْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ‌ۚ لَا يُقْضٰى عَلَيْهِمْ فَيَمُوْتُوْا وَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمْ مِّنْ عَذَابِهَا ؕ كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِىْ كُلَّ كَفُوْرٍۚ‏(36)

WAL LAZEENA KAFAROO LAHUM NAARO JAHANNAM, LAA YUQZAA A’LAYHIM FA-YAMOOTOO WA LAA YOKHAFFAFO A’NHUM MIN A’ZAABEHAA, KAZAALEKA NAJZEE KULLA KAFOOR.

As for the faithless, there is for them the fire of hell: they will neither be done away with so that they may die, nor shall its punishment be lightened for them. Thus do We requite every ingrate.

وَهُمْ يَصْطَرِخُوْنَ فِيْهَا ‌ۚ رَبَّنَاۤ اَخْرِجْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا غَيْرَ الَّذِىْ كُنَّا نَعْمَلُؕ اَوَلَمْ نُعَمِّرْكُمْ مَّا يَتَذَكَّرُ فِيْهِ مَنْ تَذَكَّرَ وَجَآءَكُمُ النَّذِيْرُؕ فَذُوْقُوْا فَمَا لِلظّٰلِمِيْنَ مِنْ نَّصِيْرٍ‏(37)

WA HUM YASTAREKHOONA FEEHAA, RABBANAA AKHRIJNAA NA’MAL SAALEHAN GHAYRAL LAZEE KUNNAA NA’MAL, AWA LAM NO-A’MMIRKUM MAA YATAZAKKARO FEEHE MAN TAZAKKARA WA JAAA-AKOMUN NAZEER, FA-ZOOQOO FAMAA LIZ-ZAALEMEENA MIN NASEER.

They shall cry therein for help: ‘Our Lord! Bring us out, so that we may act righteously—differently from what we used to do!’ ‘Did We not give you a lifelong enough that one who is heedful might take admonition? And [moreover] the warner had [also] come to you. Now taste [the consequence of your deeds], for the wrongdoers have no helper.’

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عٰلِمُ غَيْبِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِؕ اِنَّهٗ عَلِيْمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوْرِ‏(38)

INNAL LAAHA A’ALEMO GHAYBIS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZ, INNAHU A’LEEMUM BE-ZAATIS SODOOR.

Indeed Allah is the knower of the Unseen of the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He knows well what is in the breasts.

هُوَ الَّذِىْ جَعَلَكُمْ خَلٰٓئِفَ فِى الْاَرْضِ ؕ فَمَنْ كَفَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ كُفْرُهٗ ؕ وَلَا يَزِيْدُ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ كُفْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ اِلَّا مَقْتًا ۚ وَلَا يَزِيْدُ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ كُفْرُهُمْ اِلَّا خَسَارًا‏(39)

HOWAL LAZEE JA-A’LAKUM KHALAAA-EFA FIL ARZ, FAMAN KAFARA FA-A’LAYHE KUFROH, WA LAA YAZEEDUL KAAFEREENA KUFROHUM I’NDA RABBEHIM ILLAA MAQTAA, WA LAA YAZEEDUL KAAFEREENA KUFROHUM ILLAA KHASAARAA.

It is He who made you successors on the earth. So whoever is faithless, his unfaith is to his own detriment. The unfaith of the faithless does not increase them with their Lord [in anything] except disfavour, and their unfaith increases the faithless in nothing except loss.

قُلْ اَرَءَيْتُمْ شُرَكَآءَكُمُ الَّذِيْنَ تَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ ؕ اَرُوْنِىْ مَاذَا خَلَقُوْا مِنَ الْاَرْضِ اَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ‌ ۚ اَمْ اٰتَيْنٰهُمْ كِتٰبًا فَهُمْ عَلٰى بَيِّنَتٍ مِّنْهُ ۚ بَلْ اِنْ يَّعِدُ الظّٰلِمُوْنَ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا اِلَّا غُرُوْرًا‏(40)

QUL ARA-AYTUM SHORAKAAA-AKOMUL LAZEENA TAD-O’ONA MIN DOONIL LAAH, AROONEE MAAZAA KHALAQOO MENAL ARZE AM LAHUM SHIRKUN FIS SAMAAWAAT, AM AATAYNAAHUM KETAABAN FAHUM A’LAA BAYYENATIM MINH, BAL IN-Y YA-E’DUZ ZAALEMOONA BA’ZOHUM BA’ZAN ILLAA GHOROORAA.

Say, ‘Tell me about your ‘partners’ whom you invoke besides Allah? Show me what [part] of the earth have they created. Have they any share in the heavens?’ Have We given them a scripture so that they stand on a manifest proof from it? No, the wrongdoers do not promise one another [anything] except delusion.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُمْسِكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ اَنْ تَزُوْلَا ۚوَلَئِنْ زَالَتَاۤ اِنْ اَمْسَكَهُمَا مِنْ اَحَدٍ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِهٖ ؕ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ حَلِيْمًا غَفُوْرًا‏(41)

INNAL LAAHA YUMSEKUS SAMAAWAATE WAL ARZA AN TAZOOLAA, WA LA-IN ZAALATAA IN AMSAKAHOMAA MIN AHADIM MIM BA’DEH, INNAHU KAANA HALEEMAN GHAFOORAA.

Indeed Allah sustains the heavens and the earth lest they should fall apart, and if they were to fall apart, there is none who can sustain them except Him. Indeed He is all-forbearing, all-forgiving.

وَاَ قْسَمُوْا بِاللّٰهِ جَهْدَ اَيْمَانِهِمْ لَئِنْ جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيْرٌ لَّيَكُوْنُنَّ اَهْدٰى مِنْ اِحْدَى الْاُمَمِۚ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيْرٌ مَّا زَادَهُمْ اِلَّا نُفُوْرًا ۙ‏(42)

WA AQSAMOO BIL-LAAHE JAHDA AYMAANEHIM LA-IN JAAA-AHUM NAZEERUL LAYAKOONUNNA AHDAA MIN EHDAL OMAM, FALAMMAA JAAA-AHUM NAZEERUM MAA ZAADAHUM ILLAA NOFOORAA.

They had sworn by Allah with solemn oaths that if a warner were to come to them, they would be better guided than any of the nations. But when a warner came to them, it only increased their distance [from the truth],

اۨسْتِكْبَارًا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَمَكْرَ السَّيِّئِؕ وَلَا يَحِيْقُ الْمَكْرُ السَّيِّئُ اِلَّا بِاَهْلِهٖ ؕ فَهَلْ يَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَّا سُنَّتَ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ ۚ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اللّٰهِ تَبْدِيْلًا ۚ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اللّٰهِ تَحْوِيْلًا‏(43)

ISTIKBAARAN FIL ARZE WA MAKRAS SAYYE, WA LAA YAHEEQUL MAKRUS SAYYE-O ILLAA BE-AHLEH, FAHAL YANZOROONA ILLAA SUNNATAL AWWALEEN, FALAN TAJEDA LE-SUNNATIL LAAHE TABDEELAA, WA LAN TAJEDA LE-SUNNATIL LAAHE TAHWEELAA.

due to their domineering [conduct] in the land and their devising of evil schemes; and evil schemes beset only their authors. So do they await anything except the precedent of the ancients? Yet you will never find any change in Allah’s precedent, and you will never find any revision in Allah’s precedent.

اَوَلَمْ يَسِيْرُوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوْا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ وَكَانُوْۤا اَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً ؕ وَمَا كَانَ اللّٰهُ لِيُعْجِزَهٗ مِنْ شَىْءٍ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَلَا فِى الْاَرْضِ ؕ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ عَلِيْمًا قَدِيْرًا‏(44)

AWA LAM YASEEROO FIL ARZE FA-YANZOROO KAYFA KAANA A’AQEBATUL LAZEENA MIN QABLEHIM WA KAANOO ASHADDA MINHUM QUWWAH, WA MAA KAANAL LAAHO LE-YO’JEZAHU MIN SHAY-IN FIS SAMAAWAATE WA LAA FIL ARZ, INNAHU KAANA A’LEEMAN QADEERAA.

Have they not travelled over the land so that they may observe how was the fate of those who were before them? They were more powerful than them, and Allah is not to be frustrated by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is all-knowing, all-powerful.

وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ اللّٰهُ النَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُوْا مَا تَرَكَ عَلٰى ظَهْرِهَا مِنْ دَآ بَّةٍ وَّلٰكِنْ يُّؤَخِّرُهُمْ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّىۚ فَاِذَا جَآءَ اَجَلُهُمْ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهٖ بَصِيْرًا‏(45)

WA LAW YO-AAKHEZUL LAAHUN NAASA BEMAA KASABOO MAA TARAKA A’LAA ZAHREHAA MIN DAABBATINW WA LAAKIN-Y YO-AKH-KHEROHUM ELAA AJALIM MOSAMMAA, FA-EZAA JAAA-A AJALOHUM FA-INNAL LAAHA KAANA BE-E’BAADEHI BASEERAA.

Were Allah to take humans to task because of what they have earned, He would not leave any living being on its back. But He respites them until a specified time, and when their time comes, [He retributes them in accordance with their works], for Allah has been watching His servants.

36: Ya-Sin يس, verses 1-27

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful

يٰسٓ ۚ‏(1)

YAASEEN.

Ya Seen!

وَالْقُرْاٰنِ الْحَكِيْمِ ۙ‏(2)

WAL QURAANIL HAKEEM.

By the Wise Quran,

اِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَۙ‏(3)

INNAKA LAMENAL MURSALEEN.

you are indeed one of the apostles,

عَلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيْمٍؕ‏(4)

A’LAA SERAATIM MUSTAQEEM.

on a straight path.

تَنْزِيْلَ الْعَزِيْزِ الرَّحِيْمِ ۙ‏(5)

TANZEELAL A’ZEEZIR RAHEEM.

[It is a scripture] sent down gradually from the All-mighty, the All-merciful

لِتُنْذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّاۤ اُنْذِرَ اٰبَآؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غٰفِلُوْنَ‏(6)

LE-TUNZERA QAWMAM MAA UNZERA AABAA-OHUM FAHUM GHAAFELUN.

that you may warn a people whose fathers were not warned, so they are oblivious.

لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلٰٓى اَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ‏(7)

LAQAD HAQQAL QAWLO A’LAA AKSAREHIM FAHUM LAA YOAMENOON.

The word has certainly become due against most of them, so they will not have faith.

اِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِىْۤ اَعْنَاقِهِمْ اَغْلٰلًا فَهِىَ اِلَى الْاَ ذْقَانِ فَهُمْ مُّقْمَحُوْنَ‏(8)

INNAA JA-A’LNAA FEE A-A’NAAQEHIM AGHLAALAN FAHEYA ELAL AZQAANE FAHUM MUQMAHOON.

Indeed We have put iron collars around their necks, which are up to the chins, so their heads are upturned.

وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْۢ بَيْنِ اَيْدِيْهِمْ سَدًّا وَّمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَاَغْشَيْنٰهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُوْنَ‏(9)

WA JA-A’LNAA MIM BAYNE AYDEEHIM SADDANW WA MIN KHALFEHIM SADDAN FA-AGHSHAYNAAHUM FAHUM LAA YUBSEROON.

And We have put a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, then We have blind-folded them, so they do not see.

وَسَوَآءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَاَنْذَرْتَهُمْ اَمْ لَمْ تُنْذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ‏(10)

WA SAWAAA-UN A’LAYHIM A-ANZARTAHUM AM LAM TUNZIRHUM LAA YOAMENUN.

It is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not have faith.

اِنَّمَا تُنْذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِىَ الرَّحْمٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِۚ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَّاَجْرٍ كَرِيْمٍ‏(11)

INNAMAA TUNZERO MANIT-TABA-A’Z ZIKRA WA KHASEYAR RAHMAANA BIL-GHAYBE FA-BASH-SHIRHO BE MAGHFERATINW WA AJRIN KAREEM.

You can only warn someone who follows the Reminder and fears the All-beneficent in secret; so give him the good news of forgiveness and a noble reward.

اِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْىِ الْمَوْتٰى وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوْا وَاٰثَارَهُمْؕؔ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ اَحْصَيْنٰهُ فِىْۤ اِمَامٍ مُّبِيْنٍ‏(12)

INNAA NAHNO NOHYIL MAWTAA WA NAKTOBO MAA QADDAMOO WA AASAARAHUM, WA KULLA SHAY-IN AHSAYNAAHO FEE EMAAMIM MOBEEN.

Indeed it is We who revive the dead and write what they have sent ahead and their effects [which they left behind], and We have figured everything in a manifest Imam.

وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَّثَلًا اَصْحٰبَ الْقَرْيَةِ ۘ اِذْ جَآءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُوْنَۚ‏(13)

WAZ RIB LAHUM MASALAN ASHAABAL QARYATE, IZ-JAA-A-HAL MURSALOON.

Cite for them the example of the inhabitants of the town when the apostles came to it.

اِذْ اَرْسَلْنَاۤ اِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوْهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوْۤا اِنَّاۤ اِلَيْكُمْ مُّرْسَلُوْنَ‏(14)

IZ ARSALNAA ELAYHEMUS NAYNE FA-KAZZABOOHOMAA FA-A’ZZAZNAA BE SAALESIN FA-QAALOO INNAA ELAYKUM MURSALOONA.

When We sent to them two [apostles], they impugned both of them. Then We reinforced them with a third, and they said, ‘We have indeed been sent to you.’

قَالُوْا مَاۤ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا ۙ وَمَاۤ اَنْزَلَ الرَّحْمٰنُ مِنْ شَىْءٍۙ اِنْ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا تَكْذِبُوْنَ‏(15)

QAALOO MAA ANTUM ILLAA BASHARUM MISLONAA, WA MAA ANZALAR RAHMAANO MIN SHAY-IN IN ANTUM ILLAA TAKZEBOON.

They said, ‘You are no other than human beings like us, and the All-beneficent has not sent down anything, and you are only lying.’

قَالُوْا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ اِنَّاۤ اِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُوْنَ‏(16)

QAALOO RABBONAA YA’LAMO INNA ELAYKUM LA-MURSALOON.

They said, ‘Our Lord knows that we have indeed been sent to you,

وَمَا عَلَيْنَاۤ اِلَّا الْبَلٰغُ الْمُبِيْنُ‏(17)

WA MAA A’LAYNAA ILLAL BALAAGHUL MOBEEN.

and our duty is only to communicate in clear terms.’

قَالُوْۤا اِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْۚ لَئِنْ لَّمْ تَنْتَهُوْا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ‏(18)

QAALOO INNAA TATAYYARNAA BEKUM, LA-IL-LAM TANTAHOO LA-NAR- JOMANNAKUM WA LAYAMASSANNAKUM MINNAA A’ZAABUN ALEEM.

They said, ‘Indeed we take you for a bad omen. If you do not desist we will stone you, and surely a painful punishment will visit you from us.’

قَالُوْا طٰۤئِرُكُمْ مَّعَكُمْؕ اَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْ ؕ بَلْ اَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُوْنَ‏(19)

QAALOO TAAA-EROKUM MA-A’KUM, A-IN ZUKKIRTUM, BAL ANTUM QAWMUM MUSREFOON.

They said, ‘Your bad omens attend you. What! If you are admonished.... Indeed, you are an unrestrained lot.’

وَجَآءَ مِنْ اَقْصَا الْمَدِيْنَةِ رَجُلٌ يَّسْعٰى قَالَ يٰقَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِيْنَۙ‏(20)

WA JAA-A MIN AQSAL MADEENATE RAJOLUN-Y YAS-A’A QAALA YAA-QAWMIT TABE-U’L MURSALEENAT.

There came a man hurrying from the city outskirts. He said, ‘O my people! Follow the apostles!

اتَّبِعُوْا مَنْ لَّا يَسْئَلُكُمْ اَجْرًا وَّهُمْ مُّهْتَدُوْنَ‏(21)

TABEOO’ MAL LAA YAS-ALOKUM AJRANW WA HUM MOHTADOON.

Follow them who do not ask you any reward and they are rightly guided.

وَمَا لِىَ لَاۤ اَعْبُدُ الَّذِىْ فَطَرَنِىْ وَاِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُوْنَ‏(22)

WA MAA LEYA LAA A-A’BODUL LAZEE FATARANEE WA ELAYHE TURJA-O’ON.

Why should I not worship Him who has originated me, and to whom you shall be brought back?

ءَاَ تَّخِذُ مِنْ دُوْنِهٖۤ اٰلِهَةً اِنْ يُّرِدْنِ الرَّحْمٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّىْ شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَّلَا يُنْقِذُوْنِۚ‏(23)

A-AT-TAKHEZO MIN DOONEHI AALEHATAN INY-YORIDNIR RAHMAANO BE-ZURRIL LAA TUGHNE A’NNEE SHAFAA-A’TOHUM SHAY-ANW WA LAA YUNQEZOON.

Shall I take gods besides Him? If the All-beneficent desired to cause me any distress, their intercession will not avail me in any way, nor will they rescue me.

اِنِّىْۤ اِذًا لَّفِىْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ‏(24)

INNEE EZAL LAFEE ZALAALIM MOBEEN.

Indeed, then I would be in manifest error.

اِنِّىْۤ اٰمَنْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُوْنِؕ‏(25)

INNEE AAMANTO BE-RABBEKUM FAS-MA-O’ON.

Indeed I have faith in your Lord, so listen to me.’

قِيْلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَؕ قَالَ يٰلَيْتَ قَوْمِىْ يَعْلَمُوْنَۙ‏(26)

QEELAD-KHOLIL JANNAH, QAALA YAA LAYTA QAWMEE YA’LAMOONA.

He was told, ‘Enter paradise!’ He said, ‘Alas! Had my people only known

بِمَا غَفَرَلِىْ رَبِّىْ وَجَعَلَنِىْ مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِيْنَ‏(27)

BEMAA GHAFARA-LEE RABBEE WA JA-A’LANEE MENAL MUKRAMEEN.

for what my Lord forgave me and made me one of the honoured ones!’
